Viz's fifth volume comes out today, according to Amazon. This volume should cover the rest of the Lenora battle and, judging from the cover, start the battle against Burgh.

Have you guys had a chance to pick it up yet?

Actually, If I'm correct, Burgh's Gym battle won't be in this volume. He appears in Nacrene City because he's been having artist's block or something.

(Still waiting for my book to come in the mail...)

Edit: Ok, got my book.

Chapter titles are as following.

Adventure 14 - Defeating Stoutland - Black vs Lenora part 2.
Adventure 15 - The Mystery of the Missing Fossil - Black and Burgh vs Team Plasma
Adventure 16 - A Direct Attack and A Daunting Defense - Black vs Janitor Geoff
Adventure 17 - Lost in the Big City - Tep vs Zorua

There's another 16 page chapter coming up (the Musical one where the Goods Cases haven't arrived yet), so I guess whatever volume that's in will contain four chapter as well.

Anyway, the Kinokuniya where I pick up Viz's graphic novels didn't have this one in yet, so I haven't had a chance to pick up my copy. Any translation oddities / edits worth mentioning?

Why yes, actually.

I noticed an art change from the original Japanese version.

Elesa looks less anorexic and younger, and Lenora looks more lighter, and what the hell is up with Drayden's facial hair?

Wow, I hadn't noticed the Kamitsure edit.

As for the darkness thing...the Viz version has always been darker than the Japanese version, for whatever reason. Even though it's gotten a lot better since the first two volumes, there are still some panels that are had to make out because Viz has their printer settings too dark.

You know how some things are changed from serialisation to tankabon? Perhaps that change was one of them - in that the Japanese gave Viz Media those materials instead of the serialised one. No reason for Viz Media to edit them.

I still need to get volumes 4 and 5 >>

Did Viz leave in the Nintendo DS in Adventure 17? It should be right before Tepig and Zorua run down the stairs.

Edit: Nevermind...I was able to pick up a copy today. They left it in.

You're probably right. I'm sure we'll see these same edits in the graphic novel collections they put out in Japan.

Speaking of Nintendo DS's.

You know those people (that I assume are Game Freak employees) that Zorua caused havoc for?

The male employees were the same ones we saw in Hoenn in volume 20 that were attacked by Courtney. The girl wasn't there the last time...

Yeah, that's supposed to be the Game Freak headquarters. It's kind of faint, but you can see the company's logo when Black enters the building.

I'm guessing they're all based on real people who work there?

That would be cool. :3 And I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case; stuff like that is why Special is called Special. xD
