This is my first time doing this, so pardon me if I did something wrong. Please tell me if I made a mistake. I decided to make an Adventures thread as I wanted Adventures to get more appreciation, as there were so many anime threads. Anyways, here's the rules.

Oh yayyy PokeSpe my beloved. :bulbaLove:

I feel like it fits a very particular niche for me as a very character driven series with a strong sense of continuity. I feel like Kusaka really kind of spearheaded the idea of taking these blank canvases of characters in the main series games and rolling in with his own ideas about them. Idk without him we would have such character driven stories in the games now. (Maybe that's a reach lol.)

Also. They are still extremely popular. We constantly have to reorder them for the library lol.

Pokespe's my favourite manga ever! I haven't read that much manga tbf but I have read a lot of comics and it stands as one of my favourites.
My ranking:
GSC > Yellow > DPP > Emerald > FRLG > HGSS > ORAS > SwSh > SM > BW > XY > RGB > RS > SV > B2W2

Silver's best boy imo, although he's my third fave character behind Blue ♀️ and Yellow lol

Do you think that they will only show Professor Sada or Professor Turo, or will they show both?

Turo's only been shown so far, it'd be kinda late to introduce Sada now but it's technically possible.
So I'm gonna go with a maybe, just because Pokespe's almost never missed out on adapting a character.
I don't know if they ever have unless I'm forgetting someone

I was one of the people that said "people only like this because it has game characters and is more edgy" but after giving it a chance I understood what make it good and engaging. It's the same Pokemon world from the anime and the games with life revolving around Pokemon but with a spice...villain arcs that are completely expanded and re-worked with battles that go on endlessly, as well as foreshadowing for future arcs and recurring elements that make it feel more connected than your standard Pokemon adventure. Definitely worth a read. Here's some random thoughts on the arcs I read:
  • Red & Blue: A great start. The artstyle is ready good and it tells a good story from beginning to end. The handling of Giovanni is very interesting.
  • Yellow: The mystery gives it an interesting twist as well as the villains' identities, though it feels like Yellow is not too strong of a lead.
  • Gold & Silver: Amazing, it's what anime Johto should have been, an exploration of its Pokemon, its features and its landmarks that continues the Kanto story, a gym leaders tournament, and a climax that moves your heartstrings.
  • Ruby & Sapphire: Best arc. Ruby & Sapphire bounce off each other extremely well and have fantastic chemistry and personalities, the story is always moving and while the climax has a couple of flaws it's great enough.
  • Fire Red & Leaf Green: Red development! Giovanni development! Excellent use of Deoxys and the Sevii Islands! Do you need more?
  • Emerald: The protagonist can be unlikeable as the way he wins things it's extremely convenient, but eventually you connect with him, and features an story that celebrates the manga thus far.
  • Diamond & Pearl: The beginning didn't really connect with me, none of the leads were likeable (what they did with Lucas felt atrocious) but as it went on it showed the real drama and consequences of Team Galactic's actions as well as the trio's friendship growing stronger so you have no option but to root for them.
  • Platinum: Once again a lukewarm beginning, the positive side to Battle Frontiers being erased from the games is that we don't have to put up with the protagonist cumberstomping and rushing through everything. Second half is cool, a simple but fun resolution to the unresolved plots from the previous chapter.

I sadly couldn't go on because Norma's Spanish edition became harder to find and the others do not look that good, but I plan on doing it eventually. It's a shame sub games like Let's Go and Legends Arceus did not get an arc and I hope it can be as popular as it once was, it needs some investment from the company. Not in the form of an anime (it would slap but I just don't see it happening) but in the form of more writers and more creative freedom.

Thoughts on the Masked Man? He's my favourite Pokemon villain
10/10 Grade A villain. coming from someone who thinks Adventures is only above average (that could always change though!) Masked Man was awesome, and without spoilers the mask reveal was just as sick.

I'm curious how many people here have read the whole manga and if so, do you think it's gone downhill?
I feel like one of the only people to read the whole thing and enjoy almost all of it, I don't like B2W2 (the second half's cool but I'm not a fan of the first half bc Blake acts pretty creepy imo, okay arc overall), but I enjoy every other arc.
However I've seen a lot of people say it's gone downhill, idk from when, I assume ORAS onwards since those are the arcs I've seen people talk negatively on (well those and Emerald).

Edit: Nvm just remembered some people dislike RS and FRLG too, idk why for FRLG but I get RS

I really need to read the whole thing and am planning to do so when I have the brain space for it. For now I only read some chapters of SV, Sun and Moon and sword and shield. In that order lol. Should I start from the beggining, or do I lose much by reading it however I please?

Started reading one of the official books for the scarlet/violet arc and it was kinda weird...the translation was very literal, so all the dialogue felt very flat and stilted. made for a weird and uninteresting reading experience... a shame, because the scarlet/violet arc looks pretty fun : (

I've only read the RGBY and GSC sagas of Adventures and haven't read them in a while. However, I am still VERY fond of the manga. From the characters, to the action, to the twists it takes on the world of Pokémon, I love it. It absolutely deserves an animated adaptation.

I do. I don't think it's been going straight down hill persay, but I think it does fluctuate, HEAVILY. Red through Yellow as great, even if I hate Green with a passion(apparently her name is Blue in japanese, so let me clarify, the Girl with the Blastoise I hate her so much), I think the whole GSC arc was my favorite, I only read a little bit of RSE and FRLG but it seemed alright, DPP was ok, HGSS was great, BW was amazing in my opinion, and B2W2 is where it crashed and burned. Blake was okay Ig, but Whitley? WHITLEY??? I could write an entre essay on why I hate Whitley, but then the thing that caps it off? That Delphox in XY that was really cool, had good backstory and was showing signs of character development? Forget her. Let's just give her to Whitley or no apparent reason and never talk about her again. Whitley rant over. I stopped after XY btw, is it worth trying to read SM forward? I've seen snippets of SV and it looks really good.

The only manga I remember reading was the one about the Eevee brothers. I’ve read the Ultra Recon Squad appears in the manga and since they were cut from the anime I’ve been wanting to read the chapters where they appeared. Do they play a significant role in the manga or is it just a small appearance?

It's a fairly big role from my memory but they appear pretty late in the SM manga.
You can read the SM arc without reading past arcs by the way, two characters reappear but nothing's spoiled

I recommend reading it in order because RGB to ORAS has a lot of continuity, so the story's more enjoyable that way. That being said, you probably could read it in a random order and still enjoy it, but I imagine some parts would be less satisfying or confusing. It'd be kinda like reading Jojo out of order.

I've only read a fan translation and I liked it personally, maybe try one of those.

I'm a bit biased towards the manga lol, but I'd say so. But be prepared that technically ORAS (ORAS is before SM) onwards don't have full fledged endings yet because they're not collected in volumes.
Basically the manga gets changes in volume releases, some minor and some major but usually the endings are greatly expanded upon.
Imo it's not too noticeable for ORAS or SwSh, I thought the endings in the magazine
worked and was solid but SM's ending feels abrupt.
I still recommend them though and I also recommend going back to the two arcs you haven't finished, they're a bit divisive but I still think they're worth reading. I really enjoy them personally, RS ranks on the lower side for me, but I still love every arc that isn't B2W2 lol.
But I also love Blue ♀️ (Blastoise girl), so our tastes might be really different. I also think Whitley's okay, she's not bad to me but she doesn't really add much to the arc.

phew writing all that took a lot of effort lol

Okay, thanks! I think what I'll end up doing is rereading my favorite arcs(you don't need to tell me twice to read and GSC lol), catch the ones I missed, like RSE and FRLG, and then move on from where I left off with XY. Which would be either SM, or ORAS. Wdym this is my excuse to read Yellow and GSC again? Preposterous!
