Pokemon is an enduring interest of mine, and no matter what, I keep coming back to BMGf. The RP section's practically been my home for the extent of my time here, so why don't you check out my latest offering? I've recently finished watching (and fallen in love with) Sword Art Online, so the concept of this RP might just be a wee bit familiar if you've also seen that anime...

POKEMON ADVENTURES ONLINE
Plot:
In the near future, the latest revolution in gaming technology is at hand: the NerveGear, a helmet-like device capable of truly immersing its users in virtual worlds. By interfacing with its user's nervous system, the NerveGear allows one to experience the virtual as if it were real, simulating all five senses. While every genre of gaming has been swept off its feet by the NerveGear's capabilities, the gaming world's focus is on the most ambitious project yet: virtual-reality MMOs. For the first time since the rise of massively multiplayer online games, players can truly live alternate lives in altogether different worlds.
Not one to be left behind in the gaming world, Nintendo has worked tirelessly with the makers of the NerveGear, to produce the most anticipated MMO in the history of the genre (while utterly crushing the competition): Pokemon Adventures Online. Though millions wait eagerly for the launch of Pokemon Adventures Online (or PAO, as countless Internet denizens refer to it), the game is only just entering its final testing phase, after the success of an earlier closed beta. Ten thousand lucky individuals (selected randomly from an applicant pool of millions of Pokemon fans of all ages) have been chosen.
The last test is meant to test only the quality of the game: immersion, battling, social interaction, and so on. All the game's features have been successfully implemented, but sadly--in order to maintain excitement for the final release--only content from the first five generations of the franchise will be included (though rumors abound Kalos and her accompanying Generation VI Pokemon may be included in a second phase of testing).
You are one of the lucky ten thousand. Tomorrow is the launch of the completed Pokemon Adventures Online. Are you prepared for the greatest experience of your life?

Gameplay:
As a "Full-Dive" VRMMO--that is, one that fully immerse a player's mind and senses in the world of the game--Pokemon Adventures Online is as real and freeform as the real world. So like any normal journey RP, you're not limited by the rules of a normal Pokemon game. You can swim without Surf, squeeze past Cut trees, actually sneak off the beaten path into the wilds, and so on. Of course, if this RP's title didn't give it away, the game's also primarily based on the Pokemon Adventures manga, not just the games or the anime. So sure, you could choose to take a sharp left off Kanto Route 1 and head straight to the Indigo Plateau. But that means you'll also be facing hordes of Pokemon that aren't quite used to civilization, and are very territorial. You have all the choices in the world of Pokemon Adventures Online--and bear all the risks.
In order to give the RP some structure, the RP's story will be divided into Chapters. Each Chapter will have a Goal set by the GM; once the Goal is reached, the Chapter ends, and a new one begins as soon as possible. Goals can vary from something as simple as having all current players reach Viridian City, or one player defeating the Vermillion Gym Leader, to as ambitious as defeating (or even capturing!) a legendary Pokemon.
It's also recommended (but not necessary) that each player set their own personal Goal at the start of each Chapter. If you're lazy, you can just accept the normal Chapter Goal. But you can also be tracking down a rare Pokemon, or looking for a friend, or battle a rival. Personal Goals help drive your character's growth, beyond merely following the predetermined story of the RP.
PAO is set in a game, so things like levels and stats do feature in the RP's story. However, enforcing mechanical rules to mimic in-game progression (for example, using a post count to mirror gaining levels) always felt rather restrictive to me in RPs. So, I leave those features up to you, the player. You get to decide what Pokemon you catch and encounter, when your Pokemon levels up, how its stats, Nature and so on look, how it gains new moves (such as giving it a TM, simple practice to mimic tutoring, whatever). For example, you can find any Pokemon in area that makes sense--you can say you find a Starly, Hoothoot, or Pidove in Viridian Forest, for instance, because it makes sense. Shiny, fully-evolved Dragon-types on the other hand...
Just make sure you conform to the actual rules of the games (as of B2/W2). Pikachu still can only evolve via Thunderstone, Dragonair still evolves into Dragonite at level 55, and Volcarona still learns Fiery Dance at level 100. Things that are more ambiguous (such as happiness or move tutoring) are left to you, to decide when it would best fit your personal story, though the GM reserves the right to say no.
Like in the games, a Pokemon can only use four moves in a battle. However, to make things a bit more convenient, Pokemon don't forget their moves--you can switch out those four moves for any other four your Pokemon has learned between battles. Thinking of it like equipping gear: you choose what moves would be best for an upcoming battle. This adds a more strategic element to battles--a move that would be good against one opponent wouldn't be so effective against another.
Chapters also feature Limitations. It wouldn't be very dramatic if the players level-ground their starters from level 1 to level 50 all before reaching the first gym, now would it? So at the start of each Chapter, included with the Goal will be a list of Limitations. This can be anything from saying no Pokemon may advance past level 10 this Chapter, you may only catch two other Pokemon this Chapter, and so on.
As an example, here is what the first Chapter will look like in the start-up:
Finally, unlike the actual games, PAO is a true MMO. Some battles may be one-on-one like the games, such as Gym battles. But others (especially plot-relevant one like ones against legendary Pokemon) may be too difficult for only one player. You're able to work together, to cover each others back. Do so. An RP where everyone's wandering off on their own is hardly any fun.
One last side note: enemy levels can go up to level 150, while player's Pokemon are capped at 100 still. Remember what I said above

- Pokemon may not advance to level 8 or higher this Chapter.

Player Classes:
In addition to the fairly straight-forward journey aspect of the RP, players also have Classes. Because PAO is based on Pokemon Adventures, thinking outside the box, beyond idly ordering your Pokemon to fight, is the rule not the exception. Attacking an enemy trainer is a vaild tactic, and wild Pokemon make no distinction between humans and Pokemon if they're angry enough.
So to give the players an edge, each character choose a class, and gets a bonus ability, with different applications.
The classes are:
Note that these classes reflect a player's abilities at the start of the game. As the RP progresses and story events are cleared, players abilities may be improved or gain entirely new ones.
NOTE: You're free to make class suggestions if you don't like the current selection! I'll see if it fits and let you use it.

The classes are:
- Battler: Trainers who hone their bodies alongside their Pokemon, fighting beside them as equals. Can use the move "Struggle" in battle.
- Teacher: Trainers who seek to maximize their Pokemon's talents, training them efficiently. Can train Pokemon up to 1 level higher than the current Limitation.
- Evolver: Trainers who understand and can unleash their Pokemon's inner potential quickly. Can evolve Pokemon 1 level early.
- Healer: Trainers who wish to keep their Pokemon at peak fitness, unwilling to see them hurt. Can heal Pokemon of light damage every 5 minutes.
- Catcher: Trainers who are able to easily subdue and befriend wild Pokemon. Can catch 1 more Pokemon than the current Limitation.
- Whisperer: Trainers who seek to open their hearts completely to their partner Pokemon. Can understand the speech of 1 of their Pokemon.
Note that these classes reflect a player's abilities at the start of the game. As the RP progresses and story events are cleared, players abilities may be improved or gain entirely new ones.

Rules:
- All normal BMGf rules apply.Be polite, keep spam to a minimum, the GM has final say in the RP, and so on.
- Normal RP courtesy. Try to avoid one-liners, don't control other players' characters, no godmodding, and so on.
- No legendary Pokemon. They are only available under the GM's say-so, and only under specific story conditions.
- No killing other players' characters (or other undue violence) without their permission. This may be based on Pokemon Adventures, where violence against other trainers is allowed, but beating up another player just because you can is no fun. But if it you both agree to use it further your characters' growth, then it has its place.
- Keep it PG-13. This is in regards to both violence and sex. Use discretion shots as necessary: for example, in the case of a brutal death, describe your characters' reactions instead of the gore.
- Read this post. This includes the rules and the description of gameplay above. Doing so helps keep the RP fun and organized. As proof, include the phrase "Domino was here" somewhere in your sign-up.
