So the reprint of the first volume of Pokémon Adventures (Pokemon Special in Japan) came out in the U.S. yesterday. Did anyone pick it up yet?

Apparently, the book is now right-to-left, and they added the extra stuff that was in the Japanese release and the Chuang-Yi release (bios of Red's pokemon, an adventure map, etc.). The Green/Blue name mix-up is still there, though :(

I noticed, going through it, that Surge isn't identified as a Rocket just yet.

I was surprised they kept the Mickey Mouse reference.

And awww, they changed the text on the newsletter! It's not quite as pervy any more! Although Red's reaction is a bit more stricken.

I like how its not flipped imagry, updated sound effects, and updated extras.
but I'm not so big on the same translation they used last time though, and I'm not big on the new cover design,

but hey its a step up from the originals!
GO GET IT!

Oh God, the Lavendar Town chapters. o.o Red being assaulted by moving Pokémon corpses and then Blue's Charmeleon brutally killing Koga's Arbok. That freaked me out.

Pretty cool to finally be able to get to read the whole unflipped volume in my own hands.

I liked it. Only thing is that I didn't really see much of a difference between my original copy and the new one. I didn't even buy it (I jsut skimmed) so if something drastic got added, I probably will find it on the pedia eventually.

nothing like good brutal battles though, right? :smokin:

I remember the first time I saw the dead Arbok. It freaked me out. Then I found out it could regenerate. I thought for a moment we actually got to see a pokemon die!

well see I'm used to fairly violent manga so it didn't shock me quite as much :p

Okay, I came back from the mall. And I saw volume one it seemed awesome (Better than TBoPA) so it seems worth it to buy but, if they do go past volume 8, I'll get the RS arc (If they do deside to go further).

You get to see Pokemon being killed later on, and Arbok's regenerative powers are a retcon anyway.

Not bad for a re-release meant for Kids. (I think they rated it A for all ages? But it's just like DPA! XD)

I skimmed through this volume in a bookstore but didn't buy it (bought DPA! 4 instead! Oops.). It looks much better than the original ENG release, so I'll probably go back and buy this series. Other than the horrid cover and the Blue/Green name-switch denied, I think it looks real good.

And it's about darn time Viz has redeemed itself. (just slightly, but it's still good)

And if they eventually release the R/S arc, humans will be killed as well and the rest are spoilers.

Unfortunately, I haven't bought this yet(haven't got DPA Volume 4 either), I will try to get my copy at B&N today.

I'm not sure whether I should be relieved for Arbok's sake or slightly dissapointed they didn't have the balls to keep it dead, heh.

Well, I'm glad I might have a shot at getting to read this series. The first and only glimpse of it I ever had was the part of the story where Red was challenging Brock's Gym, knocking out everyone's Pokemon in one shot, before Pika went and did some knockout move to Brock's Onix (I think).

Actually, I only ever read as far as Saur being attacked by Misty's Gyarados.

Can't wait to see the clamped-to-death halves of those Magmar, though. I wonder just how violent this manga series is.

I just picked it up today at Barnes & Noble (along with DP 1). I haven't read it yet, but it does look nice. This was the first manga I ever bought so the flipped (to me) book is going to take some getting used to. I laughed at the note on the inside of the "back" cover telling you you're reading it wrong.

Not violent? I'm assuming you haven't read future arcs.
A certain person gets CREMATED,another is smashed to pieces due to a rockslide, two lapras dies, someone gets beaten/strangled by a tentacool, two certain people try to murder eachother and the one who loses dies for REAL,meaning they don't come back to life.
Not to mention, the dex holders get severly injured many times in pretty tough fights.
