I've heard this was a good manga collection, but wanted BF's collective opinion. Is it as good as it's made out to be, are there huge differences between the first and second printing? Thanks in advance.

The original Viz printing was completely uncensored, but the new printing has quite a bit of censorship.

Oh, they mostly talk about a part where in the original, a female character stows pokeballs in her bra, which is revealed when her shirt is cut open. The new version has her just sticking her chest out with the print edited so that her shirt is intact. It really doesn't affect anything.

Really there's just more *mistakes* than censoring, and they're mistakes that didn't exist in the original translation.

Overall though, it's a good story and I reccommend it, as well as the other series out there too (DPA and most of the movie comics).

Ah, so the mistakes/censor don't really detract from it all. Thanks, again

Although I advise you stay far, FAR away from the "best of" volumes that they released a few years ago. They're knocked down to almost nothing and the Yellow one leaves out one of the biggest character points to be had in Yellow's true story.

Its a really good manga, probably the best in my opinion
it follows the games a hella closer than any other formats!!

Why do people say that? The only way it follows the games is the basic outline. The show follows the games with about the same accuracy.

well mainly earlier part of the series lol,
I say it because the characters are how I imagined they would be, the yellow saga had alot of differences...
but like the battles, gym leaders, equipment, etc. are closer to the game

but its also more interesting than the show, the TV anime is kinda getting old to me lol

Seconded. This is an excellent, excellent series, but the "Best of" volumes chop up the story so much that it barely makes sense (especially the Yellow chapter volume). Me and my bf think they were pretty much just VIZ testing the waters to see if North Americans still like Pokemon Adventures. :p

Pokemon Adventures are good mangas. I've only read Yellow, which is a good manga, but I'm sure the rest are good too.

In my opinion, this series is the best Pokemon Manga of all time. It's complex, it's creative, and it's got some damn good writing.

I've been trying to figure out how to play Pokemon and get the right feel of the system forever.I said they would do a better job and obviously change the dialogue,I was just giving the main idea of what they would do.I read it,it's pretty good.

It is amazing. It brings so much more depth into the characters than the games, but also changes most of their personality; i.e. Lance.
Either way, I highly recommend.

I say get it
its got a few mistakes, and a few lame censorship instances (no one's gonna be that excited sexually by a girl launching a suprise attack whn in danger, and ripping her shirt isn't nearly as sexual as her chest suddenly doubling in size inexplicably) but it's still a good story overall
the only thinbg is it is a little more graphic violence than the anime

Would anyone mind scanning or transcribing the edited pages? I'd like to gauge if they handled it well or not.

Except Adventures doesn't replace two of the new characters with old ones every time a new story arc begins. Honestly, Adventures does a much better job of advertising the features introduced in new games.

As of right now we know that in the HGSS arc Arceus is playing a big role, and team rocket's base is the new safarii zone.
This shows off the arceus event, and new safarii zone.

Yellow was very pikachu-centric.
GSC had a strong focus on breeding, team rocket coming back, and generally being an extension to gen 1.
Ruby/Sapphire had a strong focus on Contests, and abilities.
