Pokemon airing on CCTV

So I guess I will be able to watch Pokemon the next time I go to China (though I don't understand Mandarin very well). Speaking of which, why hasn't Pokemon been aired in mainland China before?

The Chinese government had banned all foreign programming during their "golden time" (7:00pm-10:00pm) since September 2006. So the fact that Pocket Monsters, a Japanese show, is being allowed to air on Chinese TV during this time is a pretty big deal.

According to the PokeAni article linked to, The Prince of Tennis has also been airing over there. So it looks like the government is relaxing their rules a bit.

The Prince of Tennis airing might be linked to the Chinese drama based off the manga that started in July. That'd be my guess, anyways.

Good for Chinese people that they get to see two very good anime.
