Pokémon and BOSS Coffee collab for extensive 30th anniversary merch, with limited-edition coffee cans, apparel, and more

Japanese coffee brand BOSS has announced their latest collab with The Pokémon Company, debuting lots of limited-edition merchandise like t-shirts, jackets, acrylic charms, and, of course, Pokémon-themed coffees. Most merch is available via lottery, with customers gaining entries to win by purchasing the Pokémon coffees. The new can designs will be available and the lotteries will open on June 1st, with the promotions ending August 31st. This collab is only available for customers in Japan.

All five flavors of BOSS coffee available in Japan (Rainbow Mountain Blend, Luxurious Slightly Sweet, Unsweetened Black, Cafe au Lait, and Premium Boss Slightly Sweet) will be getting the Pokémon makeover, with the cans now featuring Pokédex-style art of Pikachu, Eevee, and the starters from Gens I through V. In addition, the Rainbow Mountain Blend and Luxurious Slightly Sweet flavors will be getting a "flavor renewal" along with the new packaging. Customers who purchase single cans of coffee can scan a QR code and enter to be one of 1,500 winners of 30th anniversary t-shirts. There are 5 possible t-shirt designs, each featuring one of the Gens’ starters along with their footprints. An additional 98,500 entrants will win ¥10 (approximately .06¢ USD) worth of GiftPay Points.

Customers who purchase multipacks of coffee from BOSS can enter to win one of the jackets themed after Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle. The Bulbasaur and Squirtle jackets come with backpacks (Squirtle’s containing a functional squirtgun), and the Charmander jackets feature an LED light reminiscent of the flame on its tail. Each of the 3 jackets will have 5 winners. An additional 3,000 winners will receive a BOSS Coffee-themed QUO card preloaded with ¥1,500 ($9.40 USD).

There is some merch in this collab available to buy outright. Two-packs of BOSS Coffee base are also receiving Pokémon branding, and will include one of four acrylic charms, featuring either Pikachu or all the Water-, Grass, or Fire-type starters. The two-packs are available in sugar-free or low-sugar flavors and will retail for ¥736 ($4.61 USD).
