Is it just me, or are there parallels between Light Yagami and L and Paul and Ash? Check it out, Light, as popular as he is, is a dangerous sociopath. However, his intelligence enables him to know what makes people happy and what are considered pro-social values; as well as conceal his truly sick nature. Paul's anti-social tendencies are no secret, though he knows how to operate people. (remember when he gave away his Azumarill after his first gym challenge?) L, also known as Ryuzaki, is the world's greatest detective, one of the most intelligent people on earth, yet has no social skills whatsoever. Still, he is somehow the hero of this story. Ash lacks Ryuzaki's freakish idiosyncrasies, yet can also be "childish and hates to lose". They are completely alike and different at the same time. Light ends up having Ryuzaki killed, but ultimately does not win. Ash has only beaten Paul at Pokeringer, thus far.
What is more, I believe Ash represents Confucianism where Paul represents Qin Dynasty Legalism; this is reflected by their completely different approaches as trainers. What do you think?
