Pokemon and Digimon: Different monsters, similar concepts.

First post after my greetings!

Well, I've just registered, but I felt like making this thread.

This is not a "blablablah whatevermon is better" nor "blablablah copy" thread. I...Well, I wanted to make a "good terms" pokemon/digimon thread. They are very differents in many things, including designs of the same/similar things. I find fun comparing their designs.

The thread is about pokemon, but since it's about digimon(another anime(it's more than an anime, but...), and anime things go here), too, I didn't know where it would go well, so I posted here. If it has to be moved, then move it. If it has to be deleted for some reason, delete it.

Patamon - Pikachu. Seems pretty straightforward: both rodent-y, similar colors, both (arguably, in Patamon's case) the mascots for their respective franchises. So yeah.

The problem with this comparison is that they aren't counterparts of each other, and just based off of the same creatures.

It's like me saying Blaziken is the Pokemon counterpart of a chicken rather than saying Blaziken is based off of a chicken.

What bothers me about these comparisons is that everything is implied to be ripoffs or counterparts. Just because they are based on a similar concepts does not mean they are counterparts.

Also, some parings you've showed me are pretty crack if you ask me...

Ok , I just said "counterpart" to call it something, but the point was to see how different they actually are even if they're based on the same things. Yeah, a lot are crack, Togepi and digitamamon look nothing alike, but that's it. They're egg monsters, differents ways to do an egg monster.
If I don't call them "counterpart", then what do I call them? I can change the name of the thread.

Gatomon and Skitty.

Both cat based, but in very different extremes..... Skitty is well pink, while Gatomon is more tougher and stronger looking. While Skitty embraces the cute, Gatomon had more of a cool type look.

I think Zhuqiaomon is its name, I'm not sure though. It looks like a torterra. With 2 heads.

Zhuqiaomon is Vermilion Bird. CrazyAristocracy already said it, Digimon with 2 heads that seems like to Torterra is Xuanwumon/Ebonwumon, the Black Turtle. Yeah, Zhuqiaomon is mistakenly referred to as "Ebonwumon" in American Bandai materials.

True. Really, to me, Delcatty has the colouring that reminds me of Gatomon more. But still Skitty, for me.
