Pokemon has been going on forever. Do you think it will end? Is there anything said about when the end will happen?

Does any one have any idea or information about upcoming events or ending in pokemon

IMO, the only way the anime will end, is when, and if, Nintendo stops putting out games for the franchise. The games are the source for the anime. No more game, no more anime.

So, for the most part, no, I do not think this is ending anytime soon. There are still jewels and colors left to use for game titles. lol Also, the series is still extremely popular in Japan (game and anime). It even gets extra showings over there. Something not that common in Japan with some shows. Reruns while a show is still in production and there's Pokemon Sunday and all that.

It will end eventually, with Ash beating the E4 and becoming champion and getting romantically involved with Misty.

OK, THAT was the one of the stupidest, and best things I've ever seen in my whole f****** life. I was hoping for an epic battle with Special Manga Red against RBY Red and FRLG Red(or Fire, despite the fact he was nonexistent that time), but I get a lovely dovey anime ending. But thank God, it didn't end that time. Otherwise we wouldn't have a chance to have awesome characters(and of course awesome shipping wars). But, we wouldn't get bored to see them either(or people bashing each other).
Still, I don't think Misty will simply sit in her house, either.

I'm pretty sure that they wanted Ash to die in the first version of the script. That's why he's absent from the scene with adult Misty.

I would prefer it if Pokemon anime really ended after one and half year. Because in that case we'd get a brand-new show for GSC, with Kenta as a main character and all old clichés gone.

Now, we're watching that old boring filler-packed shit, with tired character Ash losing all over and with all tired gags and clichés that we got bored of many years ago.

If Pokemon was really a 1/2 years run, Pokemon anime would be so much better and fresher.

NO. POKESHIPPING=NO.

I always thought it'd go on forever. Stopping Pokemon is like Nintendo stopping the production of Zelda games(either one would make me send some seriously offensive emails to nintendo.)

Hey, everyone shut up about Ash, alright? It's his freakin show.

And by the way, if it does end, Ash will confess his love to Pikachu. ^-^

I'm pretty sure the set ending DID air in the anime, but they decided to continue anyway. I can't remember what episode it was, it was right after the Indigo League competition and Ash and Richie were talking or something. Ash was by himself, standing up, looking at the sky, and he said "Well, I guess this is the start of another Pokemon journey." And then the theme song played in the background, and it was all set to stop there. But they went on to Orange Islands, and from there it didn't stop.

For the record, with the trailer for the first movie with the whole Adult Misty controversy, no one ever seems to consider that could just be Misty's mother...who NEVER appeared in the show...

No, you're right, I heard the same thing as well. Not just that, but rewatch the episode. Not only does the theme song start playing (with all these flashbacks of the league), but Satoshi turns to Pikachu and simply says "ready to train harder Pikachu?" and his mom and everyone shows up, camera pans over them, and then we end with this stylized shot of him running toward them. There's no nonsense of "lol, LETS GO TO THE ORANGE LEAGUE!" like we get nowadays. It was left pretty open, but at the same time kind of final.

Also I agree with whoever said that should've been it for Satoshi. It would've been cool for Kenta to show up with a whole new backstory, personality, family, etc. and probably MEET Satoshi throughout his journey (so we could get a huge story overall), but unfortunately GS wasn't out yet, so we were kind of screwed on anything like that happening.

This I'd be so much happier with this but no Ash just has to be so recognizable they can never replace him.

I think the anime will keep on going and going and going as long as people are still watching and the games are still being made
simple as

LOL, all I have to say about that ending is that the music was totally un-fitting and Ash's and Misty's daughter really looks nothing like them :p

The Anime's going on for a while and it doesn't show signs of stopping. I know EVENTUALLY, they will have to end it....but 600 episodes? Really? What's another 500 or so episodes gonna do?
*cough* Yeah, if it does end, I would like an epic battle and NO shippings to be resolved. Basically, nothing like the epilogue of the last Harry Potter book, PLEASE. I don't want any shippers to get the satisfaction of canon >:-(

I get the feeling that if the Pokèmon anime ever ends its gonna happen when everyone's REALLY bored of it and no one's watching anymore and then its gonna get canceled without a proper ending at all....

Yeah I'm pessimistic to the Pokèmon anime.

iirc Pokemon will be going on for a very long time. Gen V is said to be released sometime next year and I doubt that will be the end. I wouldn't really hate more Gens, it's just that they should think harder when creating Pokemon. Just look at that broken fail Arceus..nuff said.

I seriously doubt this. When they stop making games to base the anime on, then it'll end, and for Japan, redundancy obviously isn't a problem or hindrance. Detective Conan is still ongoing over there and still gets pretty decent ratings. The anime has been around since 1996.

As for Pokemon, the games are still terribly popular, the show gets aired more than once a week over there still to my knowledge (which isn't common in Japan with anime in general for shows still in production), they have Pokemon Sunday (still), which seems to garner a lot of interest, etc. Until the interest in all of these mediums pretty much vanish, which I doubt since the franchise probably brings in a new generation of viewers/gamers every so many years, I couldn't see it dying down anytime soon. It's like Super Sentai. It's been going on since the mid-70s. It keeps bringing in a newer group of viewers, hence why it's still going on now.

And plus, it still airs on primetime hours. That has to say SOMETHING, right? I will cry if it just fades into oblivion, a lot of my fave shows have done that.

The only reason I hope for Pokemon (or at least Ash's story) to end is because its a shame that we all spent so many years watching this show and never got to see how it all ends.

If we never get an ending for the series, it'll honestly feel as if what we all watched was pointless. It needs an ending to make it all worth it.

I doubt the Pokemon games and the anime will end anytime soon. The games are still popular and as long as the games are in production, the anime will also still be around with new episodes and movies.

I wonder if the TCG will end anytime soon.

I always thought it'd go on forever. Stopping Pokemon is like Nintendo stopping the production of Zelda games(either one would make me send some seriously offensive emails to nintendo.)

I would also do the same if Nintendo ended production for Pokemon, Zelda, Metroid, or Mario.

Though Mario would be the last franchise to end, since Mario is the symbol of Nintendo. ^^

I'm still kinda annoyed that there hasn't been a F-Zero or StarFox game on the Wii. :/

I'd love to see the show end.
I love it and all, plus I'm only half way through Advanced Battle so I still have a long way to go, but at the same time, I do want a definitive end.
Having just watched Battlestar Galactica, one of the main things I realised that I loved about it so much was that it actually ended. It felt like a reward for having stuck with and watched the entire series. There was a proper and complete resolution (whether or not you liked that resolution is a touchy subject amongst many, but I liked it).
Also, with Pokemon, there's always a safety net that Pokemon and characters might reappear, so there's never much emotion when they leave. Having a definitive ending would give the writers an opportunity to have a big, epic and emotional farewell to everything. It would be amazing.
They should definitely end when the show is at some sort of high because if they leave it till popularity is low, then we'll just get a half arsed ending nobody will care about.
Usually when people say they want Ash to stop being the main character I disagree and don't like it. But I think that if they were to put a compete stop to his entire story along with everyone else involved in the series, then it could work. Then start the next generation with a completely new set of characters in a new region making references to events in the older series plus occasionally running into older characters for a bit of fan service.
I'd just love to see a big and epic farewell to the series in my lifetime :p

As long as there are main-series games, the anime will never end.
Gen V is still pending so Diamond and Pearl is expected to stall itself as long as it can.

It's probably not going to get a good ending. The show ending will sneak up on the writers, and they won't have time to plan anything big. They also won't get approved for an extra-long special. Pokémon will end when and only when it stops being profitable to make new episodes. Hence, it will almost certainly go out with a fizzle, not a bang.

That doesn't keep us from wishing, however. The ending I want is an hour-long special in the season before which Ash starting to grow in maturity and begin to behave like a champion should, and finally win a major league (beating an Elite Four as well is optional). After this, a huge party is thrown for him at home, to which all the main friends and rivals (including Paul if he stops being a jerk at the end of the current series) as well as some other minor characters come. Good times are had by all, and Ash is sent off to another journey as some kind of celebrity. Hinting is also done that one or more of his friends here will eventually be accompanying him, but it is not explicitly stated who (this way people don't feel sad that he's leaving his friends again, since for all they know he could meet any of them). At this point, a quick glimpse into the future is optional. If there is one, Ash would probably be around 30 years old and may or may not be married to Misty (or another character who doesn't show up until later seasons with whom romantic tension actually is implied, unlike every other female character on the show). He would be considered a figure not unlike Cynthia, and you get to see him curb-stomp a poor challenger with six of his Pokémon, sampled from all of his Pokémon from past series, many of them evolved. Then a quick ending line and a traditional walking into the sunset shot, and the "to be continued" replaced with "the end."

Of course, that's what I want. Not what I believe will happen. It won't. If there is any big ending, at best only small elements of that would really happen, if any.
