The Pokémon Company International have announced a brand-new tournament, the Pokémon Champions of Champions tournament, designed to highlight how anybody "from a range of unique and competitive disciplines" can easily pick up and compete in Pokémon Champions following its release on Android and iOS.
The Pokémon Champions of Champions tournament will be livestreamed on the official Pokémon Twitch and YouTube channels from 29 July 2026 at 13:00 UTC, and will feature eight competitors—all champions of a variety of different tournaments and challenges from around the world—battling for an invite to the 2027 Pokémon World Championships and a charitable donation to a charity of their choosing. All competitors will receive Pokémon battling coaching from 3x World Champion Ray Rizzo.
The first announced competitor is Ayna Ziordia Botella, the 2023 "Master of Whistling" Champion, said to be the "best whistler in the world." The second is content creator and "professional acrobatic pizza maker" Nicola Matarazzo, the 2026 Pizza Acrobatics Champion. The third is former UFC fighter and current Pillow Fight World Champion Leandro Silva—Silva describes Pillow Fight as an "excellent introduction for martial arts." The fourth is Denis Kwan Hong-Wang, described as the "Doing Nothing Champion," winner of the "Space-Out" competition, requiring participants to do nothing for 90 minutes.
The final four competitors will be announced in the run-up to the event.
