I didn't see the stream myself, but Nintendo Direct just revealed a Pokemon AR minigame...

12:07: First, Pokemon AR Searcher, out on June 23. This is an AR shooter. Pokemon that you catch via the app can be carried into Black & White 2.

Apparently Black 2 and White 2 will have another 3Ds app it can "interact" with.

And an update is coming for the 3D Pokedex.

Discuss.

Re: Pokemon AR Searcher

i saw the stream and it showed examples of catching pokemon IRL... and what the SHIT is this pokemon? i am not searching for "hint of a new pokemon!" BTW, but it doesn't math any bird me and many others went through. ho-oh, archeops, fearow, it only matches them if you deform some major part of their anatomy. wtf is this? "who's that pokemon" should be this much of a challenge.

not enough neck/tail/too big a head ornament for ho-oh. not enough tufty feathers on the bottom for archeops, and that head would be really warped anyway. wings are too thinly tapered to the body for fearow. and what the crap are those rounded humps on the wings? seriously wtf is this thing.

Re: Pokemon AR Searcher

That's Archeops, right? I thought of it immediately.

was people's first impression, but the wing shape is all wrong, not enough feathery tufts, where is its tail, bla bla bla..neck area is wrong... every single bird i compare it to i can come up with a ton of stuff wrong with it. it's either really crappy 1990's style 3D graphics or... i don't know. it can't be a new pokemon, that'd be such a weird way to reveal one, wouldn't it?

Re: Pokemon AR Searcher

Good to know things are transitioning toward the 3DS (except for my wallet D:)

I don't think that bird is anything I recognize.

Watch the original dragon actually be a bird...

Re: Pokemon AR Searcher

I like the idea of a Pokemon AR game that can be used with B&W2.

But... Pokedex 3D Pro- Y U NO FREE?!

Re: Pokemon AR Searcher

Could that be Pidgeot? It does look a little strange, though...

Re: Pokemon AR Searcher

Pidgeot is also what I was thinking, though its a bit on the skinny side for a Pidgeot. Perhaps that 3DS feature is simply making the Pokemon appear odd or different.

Re: Pokemon AR Searcher

Yeah, it's the square-like wing feathers and lengthy head feathers that led me to believe it could be a Pidgeot.

the head lump doesn't match up tho, pidgeot's headfeathers end in three points if they get extended. the wings also have that hump. and there's two tufts on the side of its head, where its cheeks are.

helpful diagram of points i hope someone can come explain ...

Re: Pokemon AR Searcher

The picture is Articuno with it's tail raised looking like it has a crest.

Re: Pokemon AR Searcher

Oh, no, I wasn't disagreeing, merely explaining why I was led to believe such. But you're right, that is weird. What if that extension at the top of the silhouette is actually a beak? One that's held upright? I know as much as anyone else does, though. What are the odds of it being a new Pokemon?

Re: Pokemon AR Searcher

Articuno might explain the things on the side and the big "crest" but not that other thing on its head, nor what seems to look like hands.

Re: Pokemon AR Searcher

I think some people are just going with their "best-fit" guess, but it really wouldn't work if we take into account those small anomalies. However, the 3D models may distort the work a bit but still...

...I am hoping this is a new Pokemon :D

Re: Pokemon AR Searcher

Pidgeot has long head-feathers and stocky feet. Any body slimness is probably a design change. (just look at early official drawings of Pikachu, for instance)

Re: Pokemon AR Searcher

Its gotta be an already known Pokemon if it can be traded into BW2. I don't even see what this could be an alternate forme of either, though thats possible I guess.

Wonder what other sites are saying about the "Mystery Bird"?

the body shape would have to have changed completely. pidgeot is shaped like a lemon, this is a pear, and the neck isn't thick enough, and theres other random stuff sticking out of the head that doesn't belong on pidgeot.

they aren't saying anything - people assumed ho-oh or archeops right off the bat and didn't think much of it. i noticed it was weird right away though... and doesn't match archeops or ho-oh at all unless they changed a lot in their design.
