Pokemon Based on Animals

There used to be a list of pokemon based on animals, but now I can't find it. Does it still exist and can anyone point me to it? It had like:

Elephant
Phanphy
Donphan

The trouble with a list like this is that it's mostly speculation... and I say this as someone who writes a column on Pokémon origins. Sure, Phanpy and Donphan are elephants. No real question there. But it gets awkward when you get to Pokémon like Bulbasaur, or Psyduck, or Nidoran. No consensus on what any of those are based on.
