Pokemon Catchrate software beta!!

Pretty Neat tool, it does what its supposed to. : )

Ah, thanks :)

Well, if more ppl finds it good then I'll probably further develop it, and maybe throw in some more tools such as EV/IV and not just catcrates. ^^

But the thing I'm going to do next is a GUI, the CMD is quite a hassle for some.

That would be neat. Maybe I'm just lazy but... I really hate having to hop on the internet just to calculate iv's etc. So it would be nice to have something there on my desktop to do it. Keep up the good work.

Thanks a lot :)
This'll keep up the motivation for a while, haha ^^

I'll probably develop this further for my own purposes, but if people would like to see this app released to the public then I'm happy to share my resources :)

Although catch rate isn't very hard to calculate, I always make stupid algebra mistakes and have to redo it like three times. This would be very helpful, especially if you included a damage calculator and a stat/ev/iv calculator, so they were all in one place.

I already have all of these on my graphing calculator since I'm a nerd. However, I would rather use something like this if I were on the computer anyway.

Yes, I've given this some thought.
I'll probably make an All-in-one pokemon calculator if I could get my hands on all the equations. So if someone has a lot of those it would really help out a lot :)

Well this FAQ explains pretty well how IV's equate.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/file/925602/48500

just scroll down to the "IV CALCULATING" section

Thanks, I'll look into it.
If you come over some other equations aswell apart from catchrate and IV, please let me know :)

I'm currently working on the UI for the Catchproc. If all goes well it will be finished tonight, so stay tuned ;D

EDIT:

I bumped into some pretty major problems while converting the CMD to the GUI version, I have to look up some things on .NET programming before anything will be done.

Hmm... could you make an online version too.

1) I barely have enough space too download anything big.
2) I trust you, but... *cough*paranoidofspyware*cough*

1: The software will probably be max 200-500kb, depending on the contents.
so don't worry about that :)
2: I'm doing this for myself and others, I don't intend to put any spam/ad/malware or anything of the sort onto my software. This is made by a pokemon gamer FOR pokemon gamers.

If it would comfort you the I'll scan the software with virustotal and post a screen confirming that there isn't anything weird with it :)

Downloaded it, tried, loved it.

Awesome work, keep it up.

Thanks man, I will ^^

I got my damage calculation formulas from http://www.serebii.net/games/damage.shtml. They seem accurate.

Thanks :) I'll look into it.

UPDATE 3:
The GUI version is now available, the download link is at the bottom of this post.
I know that this isn't the most handsome layout ever but hey, that's why it's v0.1 and not 1.0.
Any suggestions for improvement is happily accepted :) enjoy.

Download links in the first post, that's where all the new releases will be.

Well I tried the newer version, but wasn't able to get it working. After I extract the file and start it. I get the error message;

"This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect"

Not sure if its just me or not, but I tried re-downloading it, re-extracting it, etc... still didn't work. Just letting yah know ^_^;

Ah, thanks for letting me know, I know what problem it is.
This software won't work for PCs w/o VC++.
I'll have to link the DLLs. I'll send you a PM or something later when it's done and you can try it out :)

Sorry bro, still no luck. I get the same error message.

I was wondering if it had something to do with my ms visual c++ I had on my comp. After inspecting, sure enough I had two separate versions. (I thought that might "Muk" shit up, sorry, bad pun lol) After uninstalling the old versions and reinstalling the new single version, I thought it might work. But alas, it did not xD

Guess that's why they call it beta testing eh?

Lemme know if you figure anything out.

I think I know what's messing things up, It's probably that you have to install .NET framework 3.5 for it to work.
Didn't think about that before =P but that's probably it.
If you can test it for me then I'd be really grateful ^^

Haha, sorry about the part where you had to reinstall MSVC++ XD
You've been really helpful, you are going to be mentioned in the readme/about box in the final release version ^^

Here's the download link for .NET Framework 3.5:

Let me know if it works, It should =P

That seems to have done the trick. Once again, the program seems to work like it should. Plus its a little more user friendly.

I do have a suggestion for the final version of this though. It might be the lazy dude in me... and it may be a lot of trouble, but it would be cool to have a drop down menu with the list of Pokemon so you wouldn't have to enter really anything except the level, status, ball etc...

Of course for this you would have to have the base hp and the catch rate handy, (preferably all in one list to make it easier)... well here is a list of all the base stats for all pokes of all gens. (I'm sure I could've found this on bulbapedia but meh.)
http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/file/925601/48581

And here is a list of the catch rates from bulbapedia:

Like I said I don't know how big of a feat it would be entering all this info into the program. I would be willing to help with that if it was something you were interested in later. (If its as simple as typing numbers in xD) *isn't a big computer techie* It would just be tight if you had everything you needed right in that program (w/o the net)... since (I'm assuming) that's kinda the point of people using this? lol

Anyways, lookin good.

I totally agree with you. I was actually going to do this but I didn't have the energy to put together a complete list XD
But the ideal list would be the national dex ordered by number.
Like this:

039 JIGGLYPUFF 115 45 20 20 45 25 270 170
040 WIGGLYTUFF 140 70 45 45 75 50 425 50
041 ZUBAT 40 45 35 55 30 40 245 255

all in one line where 1st:Number 2nd:Name 3rd:Stats 4th:Catchrate

If i had this in a file then it would be a pretty easy feat to implement it into the software.
And I'm going to remove the insertion of level & base HP from the catchproc because they are not needed for the calculation anyways.

The cause of this is because I'm using percentage of current HP instead of an exact value. I'm not getting into any details other than I know it works just as good and you don't have to put a lot of extra things in the textboxes :)

And also, since you installed .NET 3.5
Test if the program works properly after removing or renaming the DLL file that came with my software, If it's only the .NET 3.5 that is needed that there is no need to add a DLL into the RAR file.
