Following the release of Pokémon Champions, further details regarding its first competitive ruleset, Regulation Set M-A, have been released. Most Mega Evolutions return for this new ruleset, but there are a noticeable amount that are not present in Pokémon Champions at launch, including notably some of the game's biggest threats in Mega Salamence, Mega Metagross, and Mega Mawile.
Regulation Set M-A bans the use of any Legendary or Restricted Pokémon—which doesn't come as a surprise, since none of these Pokémon are currently available in Pokémon Champions.
The first in-game event in Pokémon Champions to run under this Regulation Set will be the 2026 Global Challenge I, which will run from May 1st through 4th. The first in-person VGC event to run under Regulation Set M-A meanwhile will be the 2026 Indianapolis Regional Championships on May 30th and 31st.
Available Mega Evolutions
As previously advertised, Mega Evolutions will be available for use in Regulation Set M-A. However, not every Mega Evolution will be available. At the bottom of this section is a list of every Mega Evolution available in Regulation Set M-A.Not counting Legendary or Mythical Pokémon, six of the original Mega Evolutions introduced in Generation 6 have not yet been added to the game. These are Mega Sceptile, Blaziken, Swampert, Mawile, Salamence, Metagross. Seventeen Mega Evolutions introduced in Legends Z-A and its DLC don't yet appear in the game, being Mega Raichu X and Y, Staraptor, Scolipede, Scrafty, Eelektross, Pyroar, Malamar, Barbaracle, Dragalge, Golisopod, Falinks, Tatsugiri, and Baxcalibur, as well as all three Z Mega Evolutions in Absol, Garchomp, and Lucario.
Notably, Raichu is available in the game, but cannot Mega Evolve. Absol, Garchomp, and Lucario are also all available, but cannot access their new Z Mega Evolutions.
