Ok I don't get why Pokemon Contest in the anime, don't specify if it's a Beauty, Tough, Cute, Cool or Smart contest. They just get ribbons that aren't even available in the game. This is what makes me hate the series so much. They never make it like how the games are. At least make the games then like the anime. With all sorts of towns and Electric moves work on Ground types. Come on now, they need to also let Sugimori draw the series or at least get some cool artist like whoever did Samurai Champloo or even the artist who did Digimon. I think quality of the artwork should be just as good as the Pokemons Official Image.:thumbd:

The anime has never been entirely alike to the games and that's a good thing.

Despite the cliche, electric attacks usually don't work against ground Pokémon.

This is the most lol topic on Bulbagarden ever.

Ideed Doctor it is. Cuz I'm having a bit of Pokemon Meltdown when I'm playing the game on night trying to have fun while I have taken :smokin: . It just really gets on my nerves I can just make Pokemon real.:banghead:

The Contests in the games are lackluster.

I'm glad the anime Contests are so different from them.

Yeah, I was never compelled to do contests in the games. That said, styling them in the anime to be cool or beautiful wouldn't be a bad idea.

This topic reminds me of when I was upset about how Silver (G/S/C Rival), Brendon, Koki and Jun weren't/never having/had significant roles in the anime. And Linkachu told me that she would...
rather see brand new characters because they can develop 'em however they want... and it makes the show feel a tiny bit less cash cow-ish.

And I guess that's why Contests in the anime were portrayed differently than the actual games.

You want Contest to be Pokemon standing and getting applause, and then just pulling off attacks in front of judges and thats it?

I think its funny that Contests became MORE popular in the anime than in the games. When R/S came out almost nobody liked Contests, however when Contests started in AG people began to like them.

If anything, the anime popularized Contests because of how well written they were in Hoenn and Battle Frontier, and from the look of the first one, the D/P Contests looks to be great as well.

The anime made Contests popular. The games did a piss-poor job with them at best.

The Contests in the games never appeal to me because I don't find raising berries fun. Raising Pokemon is fun. Hitting "Water" to water a plant and then having to scroll through text about how the plant likes it a gazillion times to make a worthy Contest Pokemon just plain isn't fun. The contests themselves are pretty enjoyable, though.

Nah, but I would like to know what is the category of the Contest and I think that the moves they use in the Contest in the anime should be consistent with the game play. Like you should be able to get an idea of what combo moves or move sets to use just by watching the show at least. I mean when you look at the show Ash's Pikachu knows Iron Tail... Why? I don't get why it was so useful. On that note... what the *blank* is Pikachu's personality? Hopefully it's Modest since they never specify it's Level or sexuality.

P.S.
My signature isn't towards you Seviper it's for Seviper the Pokemon.

Well, I think almost everyone wanted the D/P Contests to be similar to the Super Contests to seperate them from May's more.

Right now Hikari's Contests are pretty much the same thing, just with the costumes for the trainers and the Pokeball stickers.

Shame the writers took the easy way out and just rehashed the same rules and everything from the previous Contest arc. It would have made Hikari's arc a bit more exciting I think if there was, you know, dancing involved.
