((Credit to GlitchXCity of course. Big fan of theirs and well this song really helped inspire the RP))
The Plasma event, though a failure, did bring forward the dangers of battling. Trainers did not mistreat pokemon nor enslave them but there was risk. The League began to make restrictions to reduce the dangers. The starting age was increased to sixteen, a pre-test had to be taken, and the gyms had many restrictions added to them. If only they knew what was coming.
Another uprising of self-proclaimed pokemon activists, Team Primal, arose, but their method wasn’t to appeal to humans‘ values, they would play on their fears. They created a toxin which would drive pokemon mad unleashing their strength and anger on cities and civilians. In this dangerous time where the league is considering ending training to protect humans you have only just received your pokemon and have to find your way in this turbulent world. There are also rumors of a response group being put together, but the league does not approve its action.
Team Primal: Team Primal is ruthless in its approach. The team itself doesn’t even use pokemon directly. They occasionally will have infected pokemon on hand simply to transport them and free them, but often resort to their own violence. They have taken hostages, injured many people, and a small few have killed.
You: You received your pokemon and/or trainer license only a couple of days ago in Pallet town, as under a new law you must travel with at least one other trainer, and all pokemon licenses will be handed out at the established lab of the region. The news reports say the IPL (international pokemon league) is locked in debate over banning training as to appease Team Primal. As of now the gyms and the league is still open, but there is constant threat.
Rules:
This RP is rated T for violence and language.
Pokemon hp now goes to -100. When a pokemon battles it faints when its HP hits zero, at zero the pokemon is just tired and incapable of battling. In this RP if a pokemon sustains too much damage they will drop into the negatives and become injured, at -100 they are killed. Pokemon also need medical care in the form of a PC or potions/berries to keep them in a healthy condition after they have done battles. ((there is a minor grace period on deaths. If you are capable of rushing your pokemon to a center then there is a chance they can be saved.))
The group(s) will move along the typical Kanto routes to do the league challenges. Routes will take 1 IC day. Towns can take much longer. In towns and special locales (ex. Viridian forest) there will be at least two events. One of which being a major plot point.
Follow the standard forum rules, no bunnying, godmodding, or tennising.
Pokemon affected by the toxin cannot be capture at all*. They are much stronger due to the toxin, and after being defeated that stat boost is not retained. ((* after a pokemon is knocked out it can be brought to a pokemon center for treatment and it may become cured. Later an antidote may come into play to cure them faster. Once cured it can be captured.))
Not everyone has to be trying to beat the league. I have organized a system so that the gym leaders can handle a number of trainers, but not everyone has to battle the gyms/pokemon league.
There is no level system. Its based purely off of how much practice they have (practice being both training and from battles). Moves also are learned by practice. Ex. To learn flamethrower practice by improving ember. 8 move cap, but you’ll be learning them a bit slowly. Egg moves can also be learned but are much harder to get. Infinite TM’s after you get one.
Evolution may happen whenever a pokemon has seen sufficient training and has a reason to evolve (any decent reason works).
Your pokemon gets all of its abilities.
You can find almost any pokemon on routes. All you need to do is go off the beaten path a bit, and so long as its a reasonable place to find them you're ok. Just don't try to pull anything stupid really. Of course no legendaries, and you are really really unlikely to find anything extremely stong (pseudo legendaries and other really tough pokemon will usually be found in key places Ex. cerulean cave, the safari zone, deep in dark cave, etc.).

Name: Jason Simlus Wolf
Nickname: Werewolf, The Wolf man, Hyde
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Personality: Jason doesn’t have A personality. He has two. He actually suffers from MPD, Multiple personality disorder. Typically he’s a skeptical sort of person which leads him to not take things at face value even when that all it needs to be taken at. Once you get past that he’s a bit of an anarchist, but only by its purest definition. He doesn’t like government and the man, but he doesn’t want disorder and chaos. He thinks people need to be in charge of themselves, and if they can’t be they’ll wipe themselves out. He’s heavily against Primal, and believes his Charmander helps prove why they are wrong.
Then of course he flips. Jason’s other personality is brought on by stress, anger, and tension. When this happens Jason becomes short tempered, aggressive, and vulgar. He barely remembers anything after he calms down, and goes into a depressed state due to his disgust with his demon. The two things that spark this the most are Primal and his Charmander getting in danger. While he’s like this there is almost no telling what Jason will do.
History: Jason’s happy to say he lived a simple life. He’s a Lavender town native, and it helped make him who he is. The constant reminder of how much pokemon meant to trainers kept him hopeful as a kid. Even as a little boy he heard about groups like Plasma who wanted to get rid of pokemon training. To a little kid that was like getting rid of Christmas, birthdays, and Easter.
After Plasma the changes to the league did delay Jason’s trainer career. His parents had already gotten him a pokemon, a Charmander who they adopted from Mr. Fuji. Instead Jason had to wait until he was sixteen. He did put it off one more year because he had to choose between a day he promised to volunteer at pokemon tower or going to Pallet to get his license.
Throughout Jason’s life he did have to deal with the occasional outburst due to his MPD. Mr. Fuji had always been very helpful to Jason when these events happened. The old man just seemed to understand. He said it was very similar to how people deal with grieving. They aren’t themselves and instead the emotion takes over. Jason still doesn’t control his demon, but he’s better off and he’s ready to get going.

Nickname: Jercio
Moves: scratch, growl, ember, smokescreen, dragon rush.
Appearance: his tail fire occasionally burns blue.
