Here's hoping Dawn gets a good voice and not those horribly high-pitched and squeaky voices that the filler girls get.

Or basically all dubbed anime females in the first place.

*crosses fingers* Oh, please let her voice be good.

One thing I've noticed is that a lot of the filler girls and guys sound alike. Are they short-handed on actors?

Both dubs use more or less the same group of people over and over.

When 4kids was dubbing the show they only alternated between like three or four different filler girl voices for the entire thing. That's why so many filler girls in the show sound so similar.

PUSA apparently does the same thing, but they did say some fresh new talent was brought in to voice Dawn so I hope she sounds distinguished and nothing like the other girls.

All the previous main girls, (Misty, May and Jessie), had good distinguished voices that seperated them from the filler girls so I hope it holds true for Dawn.

I'm scared! I'm soooooo
sooooooo
sooooooo
afraid of how Shinji will be dubbed that I'm not even gonna watch the episodes until I read like 20 to 50 reviews here.
I may watch the first one though, because Hikari isn't as important to me as Shinji (or Natane) is.
And that fear is coming from someone who doesn't even watch the dub anymore.
If they stick Jimmy Zoppi on Shinji, I will .....
I WILL DO SOMETHING IN REVENGE!

Just dubs? I notice that tendency a lot more in Japanese than I do in English. Which is one of the reason I like dubs so much, because they *don't* tend to do that. Of course, that may be a cultural thing, given that it's considered "cute" in Japan for a girl/woman to sound like that, wheras here it tends to be considered annoying.

Sometimes characters of the day have repeat voice actors in Japan, but they have a MUCH larger pool to choose from. At PUSA and 4Kids they only use their small groups of actors for every role.

The only actors the Japanese use over and over are for Pokemon roles, but it's harder to notice.

I just found that out. The site still say 7. Were the scheduling people joining in the celebrations when they did this?

I was actually more criticizing the repetitive tone female actors in a dub use. Most of the females in a dub have the same tone of squeakiness, lack of emotion, and just overall bad acting skills. Which, I guess can be said about male actors, too, but the females tend to be the ones who suffer more. Because, as you said, anime females always have high-pitched voices in the original Japanese version, too. I guess English VAs try to imitate that and just... well, fail.*shrug*

Ehh... just reazlied. We'll get to hear Giovanni's new voice tonight, too. Ugh. @_@ I continue worry.

They're billing it as a "movie" on the preview. Yipe. Well, the intro does have the movie-style CGI at points. But still.

What the FUCK is with that intro song? It's TERRIBLE! But at least it's short.

Dawn's mother is named Joanna.

DAWN SOUNDS LIKE CODY FROM DIGIMON. Only high-pitched.

Hmm. I saw the name "Marion" on the CCs. Is that Momoan's dub name?

@_@ Oh my... her voice... oh my. I'm not sure what to say.

Okay.. *trying not to judge right off the bat*

It sounds decent. She needs to talk more though! xD

EDIT: Maybe I was too judgmental within two minutes of the episode.

Iori? No way. oO; Not anything like him. I actually like Hikari's dub voice.

But urg...*still misses Pochama* x-x Piplup whatever.

>_> I already knew this, but all the same... friggedy frick.

Dawn sounds like Cody? XD That's kind of cute, actually.

Dawn sounds good to me...

Rowan makes me laugh...I swear, at first I thought it was Danny Boy (Dan Green)

^^ Actually, you know, the more she talks, the more comfortable I am becoming with her voice. Thankfully, she's not some squeaktard anime girl. She has a decent amount of deepness in it, but still sounds young and cute. I remember Michelle's May started off very timid, but began getting squeakier and squeakier as time passed... let's hope this VA of Hikari keeps her tone!
