Pokemon Direct (4th September)

Re: New Pokemon Direct coming tomorrow

I hope they talk about the Streetpass functionality of the games other than the PSS. Did they make the Pokéwalker alternative that was speculated after the 3DS came out?

Re: New Pokemon Direct coming tomorrow

Smash as in Smash Bros? In a Nintendo Direct maybe, but not in a Pokemon Direct.

When there was going to to be a Wonderful101 Direct, people on SmashBoards thought the main would be revealed for Smash. He wasn't, but I didn't think he'd be in it. But they seem to be releasing characters each month based on a game that is coming out, so everyone thinks a pokemon will be revealed for this month since nothing significant is coming out this month and multiple are coming out next month. So they might say something in this Direct. Don't be so pessimistic.

Re: New Pokemon Direct coming tomorrow

I think this direct may be intended to serve as a final, condensed recap of everything that's been revealed so far, so casual fans will be able to catch up without searching through months of backlogs on a fan site. Some of the info we know has come from somewhat obscure sources, at least originally (like the infamous Oorotto seen for 2 seconds of a trailer), so you have to remember that Game Freak/Nintendo probably didn't anticipate their fans picking up on some of the things they did, which is why what's old news to us could be beneficial to someone else. However, I do think they'll announce at least something of substance, no matter how small. I'd love to see the method of transfer, but that doesn't seem a likely candidate for a promotional video. It's possible they may talk about Pokken, though-if I recall correctly, it hasn't been officially announced/promoted yet.

The thing is Nintendo directs aren't really geared toward the casual fans. They're intended for the hard core fan base that's foaming at the mouth for more info. Casual gamers don't go onto IGN or Kotaku, they find out about new games from either their friends or tv. Trailers are for casual fans. So I really don't see them just using this as a way to summarize for casuals as I can't see a casual fan ever sitting through a 30 minute web advertisement.

Pokemon Direct are a one-off thing. They have to reveal many new info, spcecially, as you said Ninteno Direct are for hardcore older fans, not the casual child that plays pokemon.

Exactly. Nintendo Directs aren't your "let's recap everything" type of videos, they're videos about new things. They're Nintendo's way of making game announcements and giving updates on upcoming games and features, so there is no way this one will simply be a repeat of old announcements.
They have to reveal something new.

I'm guessing none of us knows how long this direct will be. Length will make all of the difference in terms of scope of revealed content.
The Pokemon Direct of today will last 30 minutes of average. In those 30 minutes, a lot of things can be revealed for us. A part of the Direct will be known info but there has to be new info. And many of that.

About CoroCoro, one thing that you probably don't notice.
When CoroCoro is about to release in a few days and there's info in the CoroCoro revealed by Nintendo Direct programs, the official Japanese website don't update the new info until CoroCoro is released. CoroCoro is a magazine of Shogakukan, and to protect it they are not revealing info from Direct for Japanese casual fans. Remember that the target audience of N. Direct are different thasn CoroCoro target audience.

Re: New Pokemon Direct coming tomorrow

For anyone worried about the Pokemon Direct not dealing with Pokemon XY, or not having any information on it:

This should be enough to clear that up (It was in the Nintendo email. it doesn't guarantee what type of info, but it is definitely Pokemon XY related - nothing else. Stop worrying)

Ten days is not a "few" days. The official website was updated when XY were announced in the first Direct, as well as when Smash revealed Mega Mewtwo. Not only that, but in June CoroCoro really was released just three days after E3, and yet it contained exclusive information; the official Japanese website was updated twice within three days.

Japanese official nwebsite, not international official websites.

I am perfectly aware of that. Look at the site's update log and you'll see I'm right. The log doesn't show updates from before May, but you can see that I'm right about the January and April updates too.

I don't really see your point since the Japanese official website already links to the Direct website. It's obvious that an update will be made later today.

Re: New Pokemon Direct coming tomorrow

Oh the joys of also living in the Aest time zone. I get a Pokemon direct for my birthday today :p

Re: New Pokemon Direct coming tomorrow

Why do I have the feeling the forum is going to melt down while the Direct is airing? It seems to have a tendency to do that whenever something new happens.

Re: New Pokemon Direct coming tomorrow

It will be on in 28-20 minutes, correct?

The site says that length is "approximately 20 minutes", so the range is probably 18-22.

Oh, you asked when it will be on. In 77 minutes.

All I know is I'm waiting this mother out! Even if it's almost 5am where I live right now. <xP I'm never awake for live Pokémon news, this will be a nice change of pace.

Re: New Pokemon Direct coming tomorrow

There's about an hour left. I should start linking myself in case a bunch of people are online and the net gets slow

Re: New Pokemon Direct coming tomorrow

Re: New Pokemon Direct coming tomorrow

I'll be in class so I can't watch it, but I'll just wait to see what gets posted here.
