(I think this is different enough from the existing "Do you miss Pokémon Duel" thread to merit its own thread? Hopefully?)

A couple people commented on the Number 7 avatar I'm currently using, so I thought maybe a thread like this would be enjoyed. Do you have any thoughts on the characters or story? Any headcanons? Just general memories?

Personally, I never got to play Pokémon Duel (it came and went before I had my first mobile phone), but I wish I had! I discovered it through Bulbapedia and YouTube and got very interested in the plot. It seemed very atypical for a Pokémon game, but in an intriguing way. I wish it had reached a conclusion before the end of service! The character designs are excellent too; Number 7 is unsurprisingly my favorite, but they all range from good to fantastic, in my opinion.

i played during service! i got into it towards the end of its life and generally have a habit of taking hiatuses lasting months or years from mobile games, so i didn't get too far into it, but i liked it a lot! the gameplay was super fun even if i was kinda trash at the game, and it was super interesting what they were setting up with the story

i cannot find it again for the life of me, but there's a project called carmonte quests that completes the duel storyline. i don't use that storyline when i write characters from duel myself, but it's neat that someone thought of this game and wanted to complete the storyline

Glad I was able to introduce someone to it! The vibes are indeed something else, haha. Part of what intrigued me about it was that it barely felt like a Pokemon game but was indeed a Pokemon game.

That's really cool! I'd love to do something like that myself, but I have no idea if/when I'd have the time. So, I'm just slowly building up headcanons. Speaking of which...

Spoiler: My hairbrained theory on Duel relative to the main games

Since the characters in Duel know about Pokémon (given that's the basis for all the figures) but never otherwise mention training or interacting with Pokémon, I headcanoned Duel as being in the Ultra Ruin timeline briefly shown in USUM. After whatever shenanigans that lead to the creation of Guzzlord happened, some Entity (I haven't decided if it's Hoopa, Arceus, Hoopa under Arceus's orders, or someone else) concluded that the combined powers of Humans and Pokémon had caused too much damage and separated them by taking all the Pokémon away. Humans were left scrambling to save themselves with only their technology, and ultimately evacuated the planet. Carmonte is on one of the new planets the survivors settled, and Duel takes place multiple generations after the settlement, hence why the society is fairly built-up. The Duel game was made based on records of Pokémon and Pokémon battles.

Where did the removed Pokémon go? Into another dimension where they created the societies shown in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games.

Headcanoning Duel in the far future of a different timeline also lead to the inklings of an AU that's the Duel characters in main timeline future the Violet Paradox Pokémon come from, but that's a whole other story...

Pokemon Duel was an amazing game. I used to play it long ago when I had my first tablet.

I struggle to remember what exactly the game looks like without looking it up... I do remember however that I named my character Wisper (Misspelt Whisper from Yo-Kai Watch since I was playing it at the time)

I liked the little figures and I wish it was an IRL game.

Sooooo... is it too late to say Pokemon Duel was the first Pokemon game I 'owned' XD? Okay, if you've seen me post in other threads, you'll know my first Pokemon Game that I owned was Pokemon Sword, but I've played on my brother's old files all the way back to Pokemon Black. Child me downloaded Pokemon Duel on his now also discontinued tablet (that I still have), and played the heck out of it, and loved it to all heck. I am so freaking attached to this game. Kid me genuinely, found this as my version of the anime, I had my travelling companions, and my fair share of epic battles and close calls. I was hilariously good at it too, I don't think people realized that they were being beaten by some random kid who was just enjoying his Pokeymanz XD. I'm GENUINELY attached to Luka, Sharon, and even Nadya, more than a very large amount of main Pokemon Characters, and it pains me to know so many don't know them at all ;-;. I vividly remember getting rolled by Joe and Number 7 for so long. Good times, I was crushed when it got shut down. If it gets ANY recognition in the future, be it figures (I'd love a real life version of PFG tbh. maybe if they give it a second shot, it'd do better than the original TFG), or an animated sub series akin to Path to the Peak (Plleeeaaaase ) I will be there to support it day 1.

DUEL MENTIONED... i haven't checked out the game in a long while (i say as if it isn't discontinued), but I used to play it so much... mained Ultra Necrozma so much, my goat fr,,

idont remember a ton about the story, but I really do need to reread as much as I can find abt it, i used to love it smmmmm
