Pokemon Events

Is there a comprehensive list of where and when the Pokemon events are? I've loved Pokemon for like 10 years but still have never been to any kind of event and really want to go to one but I'm having a really hard time finding a list or anything at all (other than tournaments).

Also, do they do things for when new games come out (HG/SS)?

And if you're talking about something more like local events, you'll probably hear about them if they're close, but catching local events outside of Japan is a difficult thing, damn near impossible.

And about events for HGSS, there may be some events here, possibly both across wi-fi and local, but don't count on it too much.
