Scorbunny probably means no Fire types but would love to see Duskull caught

Small but interesting note, whenever Megumi Hayashibara voices a Grass type starter, they never evolve

We have Bulbasaur, Snivy and Rowlet

Unless the gap between gen 8 and gen 9 is 5 years, i cannot see them spending more than 15/20 episodes in an old region, since imo, the main focus should be Galar, because that is the best way to promote the region and the Pokemon in it.
However, the thing i have thought about: What if they do 4 regions + Galar in gen 8 and then 4 regions + gen 9 region in gen 9. Thats a nice balance.
 
Yamper is now off the list of potential Ash captures. Also, I wonder if Ash will even catch Galar Pokemon, considering that Galar isn't even the home base of the series.

We knew the chances of Ash even catching an Electric type were remote

Hopefully Ash will catch some Kanto Pokemon that he hasn't caught before

Which mons are left for him though, since Gou is also gonna catch some and i also don't think Ash is gonna share Kanto mons with Misty and Brock (Which narrows it down even further) and Meowth line, Koffing line, Ekans line, Lickitung, Porygon and Mr.Mime are out as well and possibly also Venonat and Scyther (Because of Tracey). And Beedrill and Raticate might be out as well.

And what about Magnemite?
 
Ash focus now is defined as being good in battles. So I guess this time he'll focus on strong instead of just capture because he likes it.

He captures a Pokemon because he likes it/has bonded with him and uses this increased co-ordination to make it stronger and viable in battles.

It’s really out of character for Ash to suddenly focus on strong Pokemon completely irrespective of personality and interaction.

Ash has Pikachu. Taking a few factors into consideration, imo, there are only a few Pokemon lines he realistically can get: Both Nido lines, Oddish line, Paras line, Machop line, Growlithe line, Ponyta line, Slowpoke line, Farfetch'd, Exeggcute line, Tangela, Magmar and the fossil lines. Everything else is out imo, since most water mons cannot move on land (And as traditionally doesn't get those, since he can hardly use them in battle). This way he doesn't own a line that is/was owned by a companion and Team Rocket.

James owns a Growlithe.
Not saying it precludes Ash from getting one given how little screen time it got, but let us not forget about Growlie.

I'm curious why you didn't include the Rhyhorn line and the Hitmon's as a possible Ash Capture. Not that I think either of them are likely to happen, but Ash does have history with those lines.
