uh, they're practically the same thing. Would you rather see Charizard when you start your game or Venasaur?
 
Depends which version exclusives you want.

FireRed exclusives:
Ekans, Arbok, Oddish, Gloom, Vileplume, Bellossom, Psyduck, Golduck, Growlithe, Arcanine, Shellder, Cloyster, Scyther, Scizor, Elekid, Electabuzz, Wooper, Quagsire, Murkrow, Qwilfish, Delibird, Skarmory

LeafGrean exclusives:
Sandshrew, Sandslash, Vulpix, Ninetales, Bellsprout, Weepinbell, Victreebel, Slowpoke, Slowbro, Slowking, Staryu, Starmie, Magby, Magmar, Pinsir, Azurill, Marill, Azumarill, Misdreavus, Sneasel, Remoraid, Octillery, Mantine

Other than that there's not a huge difference. Just pick the colour you like if you're not too worried about exclusives.
