how'd you feel about making one big pokémon game featuring all pokémon and all regions in one big single game?

yeah, but back then there was only two regions: kanto and johto; now it would be cool to feature all 5 regions. and by the way, pokémon crystal is one of the best games they made. They tried the All-regions idea with Gen II, and while it was interesting, there just wasn't much to do there.
I agree with you. this idea would be cool for a one final pokémon game, combining all the previous games before, but I hope they never stop making those games, life would just be miserable without pokémon! =DIt's an interesting idea, but it just probably will never happen.
that's true, but maybe such an idea is possible for a more advanced console system, not necessarily the nintendo ds.Very unlikely due to space on the cartridge for 5 regions, features, and 649 Pokemon.
the way I see it is more like a game where you play with ash and pikachu, you know just like in the anime. there are many ways and scenarios for such a game to succeed. for instance, a player might be obliged to leave his or her pokémon behind when traveling between regions, or various pokémon can be region exclusive according to their generation and so on...Honestly, I wouldn't like it. Even if GameFreak would fit 5+ regions into a single game, imagine how watered down they'd be or how terrible the level distributions would be? We'd have to say, finish Kanto at around level 25!
HeartGold and SoulSilver had both Kanto and Johto in and even added the Kanto areas that GSC had to leave out. Two regions was nice, but even then, the Kanto side was made too easy due to all of the Gym Leaders having similar levels.

but we already have 649 pokémon in black and white, and the animation for each pokémon is already encoded in the game card. that's not an issue.649 different animations for 649 Pokemon will no doubt eat up most of the console's memory.
I agree! there would be a lot of data to handle, but I don't really think that memory is an issue nowadays. besides, it's just a hypothetical question, we don't really need to think about the technical stuff. That's if we assume that this will happen in Generation V. If it happens in say, Gen VI there could be anywhere from 750-800 Pokémon, plus their shiny forms and alternate formes - and by then they'll most likely be 3D models instead of sprites (After all, if Gen VI still uses sprites...urgh >>)
