Pokemon Green JP-ENG Translation

I recently joined this awesome community, and I must say I am very surprised with the things I've been reading so far. Keep up the good work guys!

Back to the topic... as you may know, better than me, Pokemon green got a very messy English translation. However it's known that a few fans have released some time later, better translation patches.

Can anyone tell me where can I find the best one?

I haven't played Pokemon, basically since my childhood, but now I am "officially back" and so, I wanna start playing this version, which is one of the very first Pokemon versions of all time!

Aren't FireRed and LeafGreen basically translations of the original two with added stuff?

Kind of.. those are remakes, with enchanted graphics for the gba.
However I am looking for a certain patch in orther to play the original JP green version but in fluent english.

There are no "patches" for GameBoy cartridges!

Unless you're looking for a ROM, which is illegal.

Lol, I am not that noob xD. While ROM talking might be illegal, the thing is, I am not mentioning it, or looking for it either ways. I just want the patch, which is an .ips file.

You seem to be a bit confused about what the Japanese Green really is, so let's go through these games here.

Of the 6 original Pokemon games for the gameboy, there are 4 different Pokemon sets, three different graphic sets, and 3 different Mewtwo's Dungeon layouts. The games have the following sets:

Japanese Red: Pokemon set 1, graphic set 1, dungeon layout 1
Japanese Green: Pokemon set 2, graphic set 1, dungeon layout 1
Japanese Blue: Pokemon set 3, graphic set 2, dungeon layout 2
International Red: Pokemon set 1, graphic set 2, dungeon layout 2
Internation Blue: Pokemon set 2, graphic set 2, dungeon layout 2
Special Pikachu edition: Pokemon set 3, graphic set 3, dungeon layout 3

As you can see, the difference between the Japanese Green and the Blue we got are the graphics and the layout of the Mewtwo's Dungeon. This is exactly the same as the difference between our Red and the Japanese Red. The Japanese Blue, on the other hand, has the graphics and dungeon layout from our Red and Blue, but a different set of pokemon (most notably, Jynx can be caught in the wild in this version).

So now I ask... why is it specifically the Japanese Green you want to play, and why do you need a translation for it?

Thanks for the info after all . However I am not confused As you actually stated, the Green/ Red versions are the only ones that have set 1, for both graphic and dungeon. And that's what I am looking for... I like retro, so I wanted to give green a shot, I guess you understand what I mean right?

There are a few releases out there of translation patches and successfully I found already a very neat one, it seems.
- Its file name is "Pocket Monsters Green (V1.0) (J)[T EnglishV0.02_LandaR].ips", for anyone who might be interested.
Seems to be a very resonable translation, made not long ago, and not widely spread AFAIK.

Sort of, but I don't see why you'd need to play it in English. You can find sprite rips of the original monster graphics all over the net, and Bulbapedia has maps of the original Mewtwo cave design (which were also replicated in Fire Red and Leaf Green). Everything else is identical to the games already out in English, so fan translating the game just seems like a waste of time, and is generally people who aren't really aware of what the Japanese Green actually is, instead believing it to be "the one pokemon game never released outside Japan".

What you say makes sense to me, but despite that I am afraid I can't agree with the fact that they simply just don't know about that "the one pokemon game never released outside Japan". I mean, if they are smart enough to hex the game and turn all the JP data into our alphabet and stuff, I guess they wouldn't be that dumb... who knows? lol...

Red and Green also had Pokedex entries that were not translated to English until FireRed and LeafGreen were released.
