I'm not sure if this was thread-worthy or if there was already one created, so please excuse me.

I was pondering as to if there was a way to catch a Pokemon in the Safari Zone without failure? For instance, a method of using the mud, bait and ball to assure success in accomplishing a catch? Do Pokemon differ in response to items thrown at it, and what are the best combination sequences to increase your chances of catching a Pokemon? Are there any other circumstances that effect this as well, such as the Pokemon in your party?

I've been trying to catch a ditto in there for a while; they're not easy to come by, so I've only encountered a few, but they are quick to flee. I want to obtain plenty of dittos to examine their IV.

As far as I know there isn't. I'm never that complicated, I just throw Safari Balls.

I see. In regards to that strategy, every ditto I've encountered (2 in all) has ran away when I just threw a ball.

I caught my Dittos elsewhere, it's easier than in the Safari. But in the Safari I just throw balls and hope they get caught.

I'm still in the first region of HeartGold, so I don't think I am able to get it any other way, currently.

They're actually right beside the day-care center. If you can get to the safari zone, you could have caught a ditto a few gyms ago.

Ah, I must have neglected this possibility because the % chance of encountering it was so low. Me and my stupidity, o-0

My strategy is to try and catch the Pokémon before it runs. Works more than you'd think it would.

I'd like to point out that there is a small chance now that if you throw bait or mud you can get just the positive result. If that helps.

what if the capture rates were also dependent on nature, then you could carry a pokemon with synchronize in the front of your party to find pokemon that are easier to catch, maybe?

Why not go to ruleroute 34 and catch ditto? they aren't super rare, at least for me.

I disliked how the safari zone is,for a long time now, but as far as I know, there are no real methods to make sure you catch the pokemon, for either they run away with the food, or they get ticked off ,flip you the bird, and run

i dont know i think it's just chance, the items help, but some of the pokemon are really hard to catch cos they just flee all the time.
