Overall, which did you prefer in terms of the pokemon anime seasons. Personally I enjoy D/P than Hoen. I Found that Hoen (To me personaly) had a huge chunk of dull episodes which have no-rewatch value. While D/P have heaps of great episosdes that have re-watch value. (Obviously some eps arn't that great)

Excluding Battle Frontier, What does everyone else think? Please this is not a Hoen Bash/Flame I'm just curious of everyones opinions. =)

Also, Feel welcome to also talk/compare about the other pokemon seasons as well ^-^

I think that DP has better and funnier fillers than Hoenn. Of course Hoenn had it's moments, but DP is new and the writers have learned from their mistakes. *goughwhatetebothgough*

I enjoyed the characters in the Hoenn seasons better-I liked the group of Ash, May, Brock and Max better than Ash, Dawn and Brock. And Hoenn also had much better contest rivals-Drew and Harley > Zoey and Kenny.

Episode wise, I think it's pretty even. Both seasons have their great episodes and the episodes I don't really care for.

Yeah I agree to Meron's post. Also have you noticed the animation changes between Hoen and D/P. D/P Seems Crisp, Bright and Colourful But the Characters themselfs look a bit off. However Hoens Animation had such a huge improvment from Johto and the Characters looked nicer =/

I think D/P has a better way of making the filler episodes more entertaining and interesting ..and they add lots of surprises.

Hoenn I enjoyed though ..and NOT JUST BECAUSE OF HARUKA. :p xD but I liked the group ..and the relationships, especially between Haruka and Masato. And how Hoenn introduced contests, and the Hoenn contests just had more interesting characters than D/P contests.

Both seasons are good in their ways.

DP has better plot episodes, but I liked Ash's Hoenn team a lot better. Better personalities and faster evolutions.

Ash's Sinnoh Pokemon have been handled pretty bad in my eyes, with Chimchar and Turtwig taking over 100 eps to evolve, as well as Staravia. Then there is Ambipom's release. The team handling this gen is the worst parts about it.

I also enjoyed May's contest arc a bit more than this one, although I do like Dawn's contests as well.

DP has better eps overall, but Hoenn had better individual things about it that I feel were handled worse in this region.

D/P is more storyline and character focused; as for "Hoenn," I assume you're including the first saga of Advanced Generation (which doesn't include Battle Frontier arc).
Hoenn has plenty of episodes I did not like at all, mostly "fillers" which, in my opinion, are worse than the Johto fillers. I guess I never really liked Gen III at all, it didn't really stick to me.

Overall, I've enjoyed DP best. It's had the best continuity, plot AND filler eps and I've enjoyed Satoshi's gym quest more than I have since Kanto.

However, I find that the whole contest arc is just rubbish. Hikari, her team and her rivals just bore me. I'm completely apathetic. In fact, the only thing I like about DP contests is the shocking turn of events that is Musashi finally winning ribbons.

I also prefered Haruka as a characters and I thought that Houen had better group interactions than DP. Satoshi's (and Haruka's) team were handled better - it was nice to see more, faster evos. But I'm not bitching, because I do really like his DP team.

Also, toxictwinkie is right about animation. The character's have looked so much more off in DP than AG.

But despite that all, DP is still more interesting, and I've enjoyed it more!

I like Hoenn a lot better than Sinnoh mostly because of the animation and because the contest rivals there are cooler and not dull. But I love D/P because of great charaters like Barry, Paul and Hunter J, And an awsome story. :)

Hoenn. I think it was the perfect balance of cute, funny, and intense. I think the character dynamics were much better, especially the contest rivals. The only thing is that Ash didnt have a rival himself.

Hoenn got me excited about the anime again. D/P made me quit in disgust. You tell me which one you think I prefer.

Hoenn for Contests since D/P's really aren't that great, and D/P for Battles, but Hoenn's were good as well. So it's pretty split even for me.

lol, the ironic thing is that the Diamond and Peal anime makes me love the show all over again ^-^ I even get up at 7:00am to watch it on Cartoon Network (Australia)

These are all fantastic responses guys, ^-^

Hoenn was better because there was Max, a younger addition and a little braniac in certain cases, but Ash didn't have any rivals like he has in Sinnoh which is Paul and Barry so they are equally good but I just wish Ash's pokemon in Sinnoh could hit their final forms by now He is in Snowpoint City people!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, that was another reason for me personally that I couldn't fully enjoy Hoen, it felt like something was missing, and it was Ash's Rival.

And I agree with the pacing of the evolutions, it takes too long in the D/P anime.

Hoenn has a better contest arc, Ash has a better team, and of course Max better character development. Also, May. But Ash doesn't have a rival, and we got our fair share of DEMs.
Sinnoh has a better gym arc, awesome fillers, and Galactic/J which make everything better. But urrggh Dawn...

It's fairly even until factoring in how Hoenn is what brought me back to Pokemon, then the order becomes fairly obvious.

I would choose Sinnoh over Hoenn. One of the things I liked about the Advanced Generation were the rivals. After Gary in Kanto, Drew and Harley were just awesome. And the contest battles were amazing, my personal favorite, May vs. Drew.

Downsides to D/P like everyone has mentioned are the contests, the contest rivals, Pokemon mangement, and yes character equality when it came to screentime. One thing that Hoenn gave, was that Brock felt closer to the group then he does now.

In terms of episodes, D/P is my choice. Character personalities have improved for some. No comments on the Pokemon themselves from Hoenn to Sinnoh.

Both had their ups and downs, but Hoenn, I liked how they developed May's character and add a 4th person in the group. And the contests are more entertaining , the rivals were awesome for May. And I was in love with Corphish, and most of the Pokemon.

The downsides for me were Ash lacking of rivals, Team Aqua and Magma were handled, and many the filler episodes.

DP, I like the story better. There is more background to the characters, but yet fully on Paul. I like the filler episodes better, some repeated plots, but they were so good. And some of the Pokemon, more in Ash's team have interesting personalities. And the gym leaders, I like how most of them have some background.

Downside, not liking doing to Dawn's team, and slightly netural on Dawn's rivals. And some of the Pokemon don't get a lot of screentime, some get more than others.

For me, i choose DP, I actually enjoyed it more.

Yeah I know what you mean, Team Aqua and Magma were only like in the odd episode =/
