Hello. I write a MMA blog and while I cover news and fighters in the sport, I like to think outside of the box. One of the reoccurring ideas I had was "What Pokemon could battle in the UFC." I thought about going through different Generations - obviously fighting types are a shoe in - but then I thought about it and wondered "What does this certain bring to it." Like Pikachu. Pikachus aren't fighting types, but they have abilities like static to immobilize opponents.

I guess what I'm looking for are suggestions of what Pokemon you think would do well in mixed martial arts and why? What abilities do they or could they bring to the table?

Obviously, I would put fighting Pokemon in the octagon, but I would put a Blastoise in there.

I would put Ditto, Rotom, and Porygon-Z in there. They would have interesting fighting styles.

Blaziken could also work upon throwing its HA Speed Boost into the mix.

Gallade and Medicham. Brains and brawn. Everyone else go home.

So surprised no one said Hitmonchan! I mean just look at it! He looks like a martial artist, particularly a boxer. xD

Other obvious candidates would be Machoke, Machamp, Hitmonlee, Throh, Sawk, etc~

Also some Pokemon in the human-like egg group. I would ban Pokemon like Toxicroak though because its hands... yikes. :s

Lucario is really the only other one I can think of that hasn't been named yet. Alakazam would be interesting.

Maybe Jynx because it's bulky and has big fists.....

Seismitoad's technique of strengthening its punches through vibrations of the bumps on its fists would definitely be useful here. Then there's Breloom's stretchy arms alongside its spores and springy footwork.
