Elgera, Blackjack, and some others completely inspired this idea. The credit goes to them.

Based on animals that are native to your environment, or common around a particular area of your city, etc...

Which pokemon do you think would populate your area most?

In the same way that the Pokemon world has different routes that contain different Pokemon, which Pokemon would be located in your "route" or area? Which would be most common?

i live in both a small city and a small town so for the first it would be full of growlithe, snubbull and mewoth and my town would be a farm-like area with many miltank, tauros and rapidash running around

Hmm. My region would probably spread from the coast to Mt Hood from west to east, but not sure about how far north to south. The desert isn't *that* far southeast, but possibly too big for a Pokemon style region.

Anyway, assuming that it included that, Oregon from Astoria diagonally down to the high desert would be:
Coast--Clamperl, Slowpoke , Magikarp (of course), Feebas (in lagoons/caves), Shellder, Wingull, Starly, Krabby, Staryu, Lapras, Chinchou, Quilfish, Wailmer, Corphish, Relicanth, Luvdisc, Yanma, Zubat (in caves), Seel

Coastal forest--Wingull, Starly, Taillow, Oddish, Bulbasaur, Paras, Tangela, Lotad, Shroomish, Burmy, Caterpie, Wurmple, Weedle, Spinarak, Yanma, Pineco, Heracross, Nincada, Seviper, Stunky, Rattata, Bidoof, Spearow, Murkrow, Farfetch'd, Lickitung, Sentret, Noctowl, Dunsparce, Teddiursa, Stantler, Zigzagoon, Buneary, Croagunk, Wooper

Farmlands--Miltank, Tauros, Lickitung, Smeargle, Happiny, Munchlax, Glameow, Buneary, Meowth, Zigzagoon, Starly, Pidgey, Skitty, Whismur, Stantler, Teddiursa, Togepi, Sentret, Drifloon, Ponyta, Mareep

Cities--Pidgey, Snubbull, Togepi, Drifloon, Meowth, Murkrow, Ditto, Rotom, Duskull, Mr. Mime, Bidoof, Rattata, Abra, Magnemite, Grimer, Koffing, Porygon, Stunky

Forest--Oddish, Bidoof, Caterpie, Wurmple, Weedle, Spearow, Pikachu, Nidos, Paras, Lickitung, Tangela, Scyther, Pinsir, Ledyba, Spinarak, Murkrow, Pineco, Teddiursa, Stantler, Zigzagoon, Seedot, Nincada, Stunky, Croagunk,

Mountain--Jynx, Delibird, Clefairy, Zubat, Geodude, Onix, Rhyhorn, Kangaskhan, Murkrow, Shuckle, Sneasel, Slugma, Swinub, Skarmory, Phanpy, Larvitar, Makuhita, Nosepass, Aron, Absol, Snorunt, Snover

Desert--Natu, Ekans, Sandshrew, Cacnea (I think they'd flower!), Zubat (out in the open? Why yes!), Paras, Diglett, Cubone, Sudowoodo, Murkrow, Gligar, Torkoal, Trapinch, Baltoy, Kecleon, Skorupi, Yanma

And as I said, they'd have to invent a salmon pokemon. Water/Steel is open...

excellent thread idea.

i live in a suburb of a large metropolitan city up here in the midwest!

we have like 9 months of damn winter, so there'd be tons of snorunts, glalies, and other ice types!

also, stantler and regular birds like pidgey and swellow would be plentiful in the forests.

suburban households would have meowths and glameows for pets.

Probably a bunch of Tauros, Miltank and flaffy as my town is surrounded by farms. There are also alot of rabbits so there would be buneries.

My area would probably be home to a lot of Buneary and Stantler. We have deer like CRAZY. we also get a lot of birds of prey, so we might see a number of Staravia. We also see a lot of squirrels, so I'd go with Pachirisu. (I'm probably spelling that one wrong... I hates spelling...)

My area isn't too exciting. *laughs* North Dakota's a pretty boring place sometimes.

Overall: Rattata, Spearow, Zubat, Weedle/Kakuna/Beedrill
City: Koffing, Grimer, Ditto.
-Abandoned old building with several communication towers and such: Grimer, Magnemite, Pikachu, Voltorb, Ekans.
Forest: Raticate, Pidgeotto, Fearow, Golbat, Ekans, Pikachu, Poochyena, Mightyena, Scyther.

Zubat would appear like Pidgey or Spearow at night, as it's quite commmon to see bats flying around.

Here in the south central USA, we have:

In my house:

Chatot (my parrots)
Pikachu (my pet, if I had a Pokemon)

In the neighborhood

Growlithe/Houndour/Poochyena (dogs)
Meowth/Skitty/Glameow (cats)
Sunflora/Bellossom (plants in yards)
Pidgey/Taillow/Starly (wild birds)
Pidgeotto/Swellow/Staravia (birds of prey)
Buneary (rabbits)
Parchirisu (squirrels)

In town:

Pidgey/Starly/Taillow (wild birds)
Vileplume/Sunflora/Bellossom (gardens)
Meowth (stray)
Munchlax (wandering around restaurants eating what people drop)

On the university campus:

Arcanine (guiding the blind students)
Murkrow (crows)
Pikachu/Chikorita/Bulbasaur (playing in the grass)
Treecko (romping in the trees)
Parchirisu (squirrels)
Torchic/Charmander (only on very hot days)
Squirtle/Mudkip (playing in the fountains)

Legendary wise, Zapdos would bring storms, and Articuno would bring snow and ice in the winter

Let's see...

Pidgey, Vulpix, Pachirisu, Starly, Bidoof...

Never realised my house was surrounded by Farthing Wood. o_O

Crows pass around my house a lot...
So there would be Murkrow, Honchcrow, and Sudowoodo.
I have a lot of trees in my area.

[This is me, expandivating my post from the other thread...]

Let's see, Texas Gulf Coast Pokemon...Wingull and Pelipper, natch. Gulf Coast Krabby and Kingler would be known for their robust claws, and there'd be enough Tentacool and Tentacruel in the waters to send Misty into a ecstatic coma.

In the bayous, there'd be Corphish and Totodile, of course, along with Mudkip, Barboach and Whiscash. There'd be swamp Ratatta, and maybe even some "swamp Eevee" as well. For bug types, we'd see lots of Yanma, Surskit, and Beedrill (especially the ferocious "killer Beedrill"...wait, that's pretty much ALL Beedrill, lol).

No doubt "Farfetch'd Unlimited" would keep Farfetch'd, Psyduck and Golduck plentiful in our wetlands. Wooper, Polywhirl, and Squirtle would be around, and Lotad. Lots of Lotad.

We'd probably be a good place to find Feebas, too. That's nice to know.

In the Big Thicket forest there are carnivorous plants, so here'd you'd find your Bellsprout line and some Carnivine. I think there'd also be Nuzleaf, Pineco, Treecko and Turtwig; Zigzagoon, Stantler, and (no doubt) some Duskull lurking in the shadows.

Hmmm, anything else?

Well, Diglett and Dugtrio would have that deep Paleozoic and Cenozoic sediment to dig through, but they'd have to keep away from the high water table near the coast. Out past Austin you'd begin to find the desert species: Cacnea, Vibrava, and the armadillo-based Sandshrew (though I hope they'd be better at vehicle-avoidance than their counterparts are...).

We'd be well known for our Tauros, Miltank, Ponyta and Rapidash ranches.

But there would need to be a possum Pokemon.

And a mosquito Pokemon. :p

Magikarp.

Also a bunch of dog, bird and cat pokemon. And there would probably be ghost pokemon in a bunch of buildings downtown along with magnemite and it's evolutions. I'll think of more later.

I live in Northeast AMERICA so

Forrest in my area - Mightyena, Houndoom, Urasing, MANY Bug pokemon, Nido's
Farfetch'd, Hoothoot, Paras, shroomish, Stantler would stand in the middle of the road and look at you when driving in the night except you'd end up being the one confused , burmy, pachirusu, pikachu, oddish line and ghost pokemon at night

Since I live by a lake it would probably be infested with Magicarp, Feebas, Barboach, lotad, wooper, poliwag and mudkip since I commonly see dragonflies yanma also

Houses would be infested with rattata and raticate

I live in Maine, so we'd probably have all but the desert and volcano-based Pokemon. But here's a list of what would probably be most common (evolved forms are a given):

Stantler
Bidoof
Wingull
Vulpix
Taillow
Pidgey
Staryu
Hoothoot
Magikarp
Feebas
Wailmer
Bulbasaur
Turtwig
Chikorita
Pichu

That's just off the top of my head. There are lots more that would be around, but I'm too lazy to look for the Pokedex.

Well, I live in the cold mountains, in a small town surrounded by miles of farmland.

More than likely there would be a lot of ice type pokemon. Snover, Sneasel, Glaceon (I have no doubt Eevee could evolve here in the winter), Delibird, Swinub.

Of course there would be a plethora of Tauros and Miltank grazing in the fields.

Because it's the mountains and there are a ton of caves here (there are some caverns near the university we have jokingly called Mt. Moon before) there would probably be some cave-dwelling pokemon, like Clefairy and Geodude, Cubone, Sandshrew, etc.

The next town over is known for having wealthy, retired residents, so it would probably be populated with popular pet pokemon. Persian, Eevee, Glameow, Snubbull.

I live in Maryland which is known for crabs and other seafood. Krabby, Kingler (crabs), Shellder, Cloyster (oysters), and various fish would be found in the water. Land-based animals would include forest creatures like Stantler (deer), Buneary (rabbits), Zigzagoon (raccoons), Shroomish (mushroons) and some bugs. Most likely others.

Probably Meowth as there are a TON of stray cats, but that's all right, even though they make my cat mad.lolTHOUSANDS of Pidgey, we have a LOT of pidgeons(ugh). And Ekans and Sandshrew, especially in houses where the people have cacti, no grass and such in their yard.

Hm... I have been thinking about this for a while and wanted to say something, but it seems its been done here. Were I live is fields and forests so:

All bird pokemon except delibird, legendaries and doduo/dodrio. At lake here there would be farfetch'd, psyduck/golduck

All bug pokemon except trapinch - lots of beautifly/butterfree/mothim/venomoth and dustox as there are loads of moths and butterflies here.

Zubat/Golbat and crobat - as there are lots of bats here in summer

Buneary/Lopunny as there are lots of rabbits here

eevee - a few foxes around here too

Budew line/Oddish line/Bellsprout Line and Sunkurn Line as there is quite a few meadows here.

Meowth/Glameow as there are lots of stray cats dumped here :( as it s private area and people want to seem to dump their pets here if they don't want em. Thats how we have many grey/black rabbits, someone dumped some black rabbits here and they interbred with wild rabbits and there are loads now.

Probably magikarp, Graydos in the large lake here as well as lotad line.

Patchirichu as the loads amount of red squirrels here.

Since this place is part farm, there would be mareep line and tauros/miltank as we have loads of sheep and cows.

Pineco/fortress here too because of the loads of trees. Not sure what else could be here, but probably be more than this.

Also Shaymin would like it here a lot, especially in one of the larger meadow/fields here.
