Would Pokémon be able to sit in on high school or college courses normally populated by humans? Obviously most wouldn't be able to respond audibly, but could they learn to type or write in human language? Do they even have the intelligence and memory to comprehend human-level information?

Are some Pokémon more intelligent than others?

I think it depends on the species. I think pokemon generally are more intelligent than regular animals, but only a few are as intelligent as or more intelligent than humans.

I think pokemon are generally have the same intelligence as real animals but some are in fact smarter than regular animals. This includes humans.

Alakazam's Intelligence Quotent is said to be 5000. And Dragonite's Pokédex data says that it is as smart as a human.

This means that some can indeed sit in on classes and possibly understand what is being taught. They can not add anything to the discussion on their own, unless a translator is provided. Nor can they write down what they are thinking. They don't have a grasp of a written language.

I honesly don't think that a common Rattata could be found at any school, but the two Pokémon I named could grasp the ideas presented.

lol...can you just picture that? alakazam getting a noogie from a machamp for it's lunch money? napolean dynamite/pokemon crossover anyone?

Unless they're in Magical Pokémon Journey. Clefairy has an example of pokémon written language in that.

If you mean the note from Jigglypuff in "Oh, That Cute, Cute Jigglypuff", then yes, that can be the Pokémon's version of a written language. But Hazel and Almond could not read it.

Allow me to expand on my point further, now that I have that knowledge. (It has been an awful long time since I last read "Magical Pokémon Journey.) The Pokémon do not have a grasp of a written language that can be understood by humans. Unless a Pokémon reads it out loud, as Clefairy did in the case mentioned, then a human would have no idea what the paper is about.
