Pokemon Jack-o-Lanterns (on watermelons!)

Ooo, awesome. Practicing your skills for the upcoming Halloween? :-D

Actually, I think I do better on watermelons then pumpkins. They definitly smell better... I think it all depends on what design I'm doing.

Wow, that's awesome! I can barely carve a pumpkin, much less a watermelon. >.> Great job!

Ok, more of a technical question, how do you remove all that meat from the watermelon?? isn't it A LOT more watery than pumpkin meat?

Two ways. For most of the watermelons, I cut them in half then dice up the insides, and salvage what I can get out. Then the rest I just scrape out with a pumpkin scooper. With the tiny watermelon I used for Jirachi, I pretty much did the same thing I would for a pumpkin, stuck my hand in and scooped it out. Both ways are a lot more watery then pumpkins, which is why I work over a sink. Once I have them cleaned out I usually stuff them with rags to absorb all the extra water.

And thanks for the comments, they make me feel all warm and fuzzy :-D

Hope I don't get eaten for double posting/bumping this up, but I have a new watermelon finished. Don't think I need a new thread when I have a nice one right here.

Latios and Latias. I originally did this design on a pumpkin last Halloween, but never got around to taking pictures before it wilted into goo. This one turned out better then the original, because I didn't break off a limb like last time.
