The rules are similar to the previous edition: participants will receive seven semi-random Pokémon, grouped roughly on when they can first be obtained - however, they can be used as soon as they're obtained if the version allows so. Other Pokémon may use field moves and abilities, but are not allowed to be used in battle. Besides one of Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile being guaranteed, at least one able to learn all three Water-type HMs (the Magikarp, Poliwag, Qwilfish, Staryu, or Chinchou lines) will be guaranteed. To account for version exclusives, several pairs or sets of Pokémon exist in which any one can be used. Trading for the other or for evolution is allowed, but the other of the pair must be captured first and traded. Two types of victory can be claimed, by completing the Elite Four and defeating Red.
In recent years, the host of the event, revenantkioku, has been holding various side-events in the months when the Four Job Fiesta is not active. While this was done once a month in the past, it has recently moved to two per month. The current events are centered around finishing any game in your backlog, and completing a playthrough of "U*******e" (that is exactly how it is put on the website). The mid-October event will be based on free Game Maker RPG "Weird and Unfortunate Things are Happening". Voting is currently underway to determine the early November event.
The Pokémon Fiesta is not currently active, although the page for it is up. A Google account is required to log in and participate. A full list of rules is available on the event's page. To donate to the event, please use the Tiltify link below.
