(I've decided to post the first few parts of my fanfic here, but my fanfic is constantly being updated on a main blog at windguide.wordpress.com . I run it there so I can update it as I go and get comments on each part. I'd appreciate anyone who stops by to read the whole thing, and appreciate it even more if you stick around and keep reading.)

Part One: A New Journey Begins

“Joren sends out his final Pokemon, his Gengar!” the announcer’s voice boomed out of the television as Chris watch wearily, exhausted from a long day’s work. He had been waiting for this, the last Round of the Pokebattle Now finals. “Gengar should be more than a match for Ashlee’s Nidorino!” The Nidorino has already dispatched Joren’s Roserade with relative ease and looked to be ready for more.

“Gengar has this one in the bag.” Chris said to himself as he leaned slightly forward, closer to the television. Chris has been rooting for Joren since round one, and was anxious to see him win this final match and take home the prize.

“Gengar, Shadow Ball!” Joren’s voice rang out through the old, crackling speakers. Chris watched with increased vigor as the Shadow Ball ripped it’s way across the battlefield narrowly missing Nidorino. Chris jumped out of hist seat and closer to the screen. “Nidorino, use your Thunderbolt!” Ashlee’s voice rang out in reply. The lightning loosed itself from Nidorino’s body and went hurtling at Gengar. Chris held his breath, anxious about the outcome of this battle when suddenly, everything went black.

“Man, you’ve got to be kidding me… I could have sworn I paid the power bill this month.” Chris groaned to himself. He took a few moments to stare sadly at the screen, knowing this battle was all the guys at work would be talking about tommorow. He tried, in vain, to turn the TV back on but the fact that the lamp had turned off too was a pretty good sign that this wasn’t an issue with the TV. He took a few minutes to grumble about the miserable timing and resigned himself to go to sleep.

Chris was a 19 year old construction worker living in Violet City. His company had recently been commissioned to do some work reinforcing the Bellsprout Tower, but as it was the first work they’d done in awhile and he hadn’t seen a paycheck for it yet, Chris’s funds were running low, to say the least. Chris loved Pokemon, but had passed on the opportunity to go on his own Pokemon journey in favor of taking care of his mother. When he turned 18, his mother passed away and Chris decided to take up construction since he felt like he was too old to start something like a Pokemon Journey. He had seen tons of his friends who thought they would make a living off of tournament prize money get their hopes dashed and end up back at home with their mothers. All of these things weighed heavy on his mind as he drifted off to sleep, resting for the long day that was surely to greet him tommorow.

Part Two: Some Plans Fall Apart

Chris woke up the next morning to light streaming through the blinds in his room. He rolled over and looked at the clock… blank…He sat bolt upright. No power meant no alarm clock, and no alarm clock meant… he looked at his watch. Two hours late.
“Oh, man, what a way to start the day” he complained to himself as he hopped out of bed and got ready as quickly as possible, hopping on his bike and praying that at least he wouldn’t be fired. When he got over the hill and saw Bellsprout Tower, he knew that was the least of his concerns.

The flexible pillar that made the center of Bellsprout Tower apparently hadn’t been as reliable as the Monks had once thought. The whole tower was leaning over, ready to collapse with only his Coworkers and their Pokemon keeping it from falling over completely. As Chris closed in on his bike, he could hardly handle the lump in his throat. He knew he would be of little to no use to his coworkers without any Pokemon, he had to find another way to assist them.

Gruden, Chris’s boss, was standing at the base of the tower, giving orders simultaneously to both Pokemon and people. His past as an expert trainer was evident by the seamless way he commanded all of his chrages. His face was streaming with sweat and to any trained eye it was evident that Gruden was the reason this tower was still held together.

“I want all flying Pokemon feeding Berries to the Pokemon holding up the tower NOW!” his voice boomed. Chris had barely dismounted his bike before he was given his orders, “Chris, I’ll deal with your tardiness later, grab a rope!” Chris dashed to the side of one of the many fighting Pokemon, a Machoke, and took hold of the rope alongside it. He had been working construction for over a year and he knew enough to know that they were in a dire situation. Even with all of the Pokemon helping them, they didn’t have enough manpower to hold this tower long enough for someone to install new suppourts inside the tower. He pulled back on the ropes, trying to settle in for a longer day than he had been expecting already.

Gruden took a moment from barking orders to survey the situation. They needed someone to get in there and order the Spinarak to put up a temporary hold untill something more permanent could be done. But for one person to command six spinarak they didn’t own would be extraordinarily difficult. The usual Spinarak trainer had left for a class on different construction support Pokemon the day before. He put his head in his hands a moment to think and looked up.

“Machoke, shift your weight to your right leg. Nidoking, lean back some and let your tail help you. Come on guys, we can do this.” Chris yelled to the Pokemon around him. Without thinking he was maximizing their potential in this crisis situation. Suddenly Gruden had an idea.

“Chris, come here!” Gruden yelled. Chris hesitated, but let go of his rope to join his boss. “You wanna make up for being late, kid?” Gruden asked.

“Don’t we have more pressing matters at hand?” Chris replied, glancing nervously at the tower. Gruden waved him off and handed him six Pokeballs.

“These are Spinarak,” Gruden informed him, “You’re going to take them into the tower and use their webbing to secure it.” Chris took the Pokeballs, his heart racing. He had never held a Pokeball before… it was lighter than he had imagined. He looked at the entrance to the tower, the door had fallen off due to the warping of the frame. The hesitation was visible on his face, “You can do this, Chris. I believe in you.” Gruden said sternly. Chris looked back, nodded, and raced into the tower.

Part Three: Inside the Tower

Chris walked into Bellsprout Tower unsure of what he would find, but it was even more terrifying than he had imagined. The floor, torn up from the distorting of the building, was barely navigable. Chris stood there for a moment and tried to catch his breath.

He took a deep breath, “No time to waste, Let’s go Spinaraks!” Each of the six Pokeballs emitted a blinding light and Six Spinarak appeared. Chris did not, however, think about how he would catch all six Pokeballs if he threw them at once and all six when rolling back out of the door.

“Great, what a way to start this experience.” He muttered to himself.

“I’ve got the Pokeballs!” Gruden bellowed back at him, “Just move your butt already!” Chris shrugged off his novice mistake and began heading towards the middle column, the Spinarak following him closely.

“All right you guys, we’ve got three floors to cover.” Chris explained to the Spinarak, “I need you to split up into teams of twos and use Spider Web to immobilize each pillar.” He explained quickly, “If you find any cracks in the Pillar fill them with your String Shot.” The Spinarak’s nodded with approval and darted off while Chris headed upstairs, looking for stragglers.

Chris found it wasn’t long before the cracked floor had totally impeded his progress up. “Hey!” he yelled, “Is there anyone in here?”

“Gaaaaaastly” an eerie voice came from behind him. He turned around and a Ghastly was floating there, frantically trying to communicate something.

“Slow down,” Chris responded, “I don’t understand.” The Gastly seemed to be frustrated and in a panic. Suddenly Chris had an idea, “Just take me there.” The Gastly nodded in approval and flew off, Chris following behind closely.

Gastly had no issue navigating the torn up floors, but Chris fought for every inch just to keep up with Gastly. When they finally arrived, Chris saw a Pokeball that had fallen down in a hole.

“Is there a Pokemon in there?” he asked Ghastly, who nodded furiously in response. “Spinarak! I need your help!” One of the Spinarak came running and stopped in a pillar near Chris. “String Shot that Pokeball and pull it up to us.” The Spinarak replied, quickly fetching the Pokeball and departing to return to its duties. Chris tucked the Pokeball away in his pocket and went to check on the Pillar.

The pillar was in bad shape, the webbing wasn’t holding well. Chris noticed it was starting to bend slowly. “It’s not going to make it…” he muttered, “Get out of here Spinarak!” the Spinarak scurried out windows and cracks and retreated down to the base of the tower. Chris looked out the window and noticed only five had made it down.

“Catch!” he yelled down to Gruden, and tossed the mystery Pokeball at him, “I’ve got to find that last Spinarak!”

Gruden caught the Pokeball and looked up frantically, “Chris, if you die in there you’re fired!” Chris smirked slightly and started pushing his way through the cracked wood. He found the Spinarak near the central column, pinned by a piece of debris.

“Hold on, buddy, I’ve got you.” he said softly to it and removed the wood from it’s back. He picked it up and began a mad dash for the stairs when…

CRACK

Something gave way and the tower began to shift. Chris held Spinarak tight and hunkered down, ready for the crash. But just as he thought he was going to hit the ground he heard a faint humming growing closer at an incredible rate of speed.

That's what I'll post here for now. I welcome comments either here or at the blog itself. Thanks so much for taking the time to read my story.

Very interesting. I'm guessing that chris will end up owning that mystery pokemon. I liked the idea but I dont see why you split the chapter into parts rather than just putting it into paragraphs but other than that it seems really good and the idea is really good so I'm wondering where its going to go.

It's split into parts because I copied and pasted them from my blog. I release new parts on my blog as I write them, I think I'm up to 12-13 now.
