Okee, guys, I'm sick of talking about these fics when no one actually ever sees them. So, I'm going to give you the first story in this [epic] series in an order of twenty-two individual chapters. (Each chapter contained in a separate post.) So, we're doin' this SNf style! ;)

Some of you know me, some of you do not. If your name happens to be Damian Silverblade, Citrus Crush Chikorita, or Togepretty, you remember me from the SNf fanfic forums.

...
...

If you don't know me, then you've undoubtedly heard me sling the name Kurisu Bakayuushi around the forums once or twice. Well, this is Bakayuushi-san's story. (Of course his name has been dubbed to "Chris Brockner" for you convenience.) So, I hope you enjoy! ^_^ I'll try to get around to reading some of your fics, too, but I'm a bit busy right now. So, I won't be upset if you don't read my fics right away because I can't read yours. Like me- you're probably all very busy.

Still...

Ladies and gentleman, prepare for an adventure that is above Pokemon- that is beyond it! This is Pokemon : Journeys of Trainer Chris!

Chapter 1 : THE ORIGIN

Many years ago...

The furry pinkish figure of the Pokemon Mew drifted from tree to tree, examining the stream below it. The stream was unpolluted by either man or nature. Man was still in his first stages and the continents hadn't even separated yet. Pangea was still the global continent and the Three Titans held the surrounding ocean in place. Lugia and Ho-Oh made certain that the Titans stayed in check and did not start a worldwide weather catastrophe that would most certainly cause most life on the planet to be wiped out.

Mew spotted a Lapras playing happily in a babbling stream nearby and floated over to say hello. Mew was apalled when a member of the Celebi species appeared from nowhere and began taunting Lapras. It was cruel and mean and its face showed that this was so. The Celebi began slapping the baby Lapras with leaf-like fingers, giggling in malevolence.

Mew slapped the Celebi with its tail and the Celebi growled. Mew growled back and, despite Mew's cute and small appearance, was terribly frightening. Celebi flew off in a hurry, and Mew consoled the Lapras. Soon after, Lapras was smiling and laughing again. Mew was very sensitive and compassionate, and because of its psychic nature was quite adept at knowing what other Pokemon and just any species in general was feeling at any given moment.

Suddenly, Mew felt fear from all around itself. Mew looked back down at Lapras to see that the baby Pokemon was crying again. Its mother flew out in a cloud of mist from the stream and pulled she pulled her child under. This left Mew all alone.

Creatures from all around were scattering in every direction. A huge asteroid was falling into the Earth's atmosphere. It was huge and very ominous. By modern standards, it would have dwarfed Texas by a few square miles. Mew quickly took off towards the rumbling death rock that would likely destroy the world as Mew knew it. The Titans came out from some undisclosed location and began firing bursts of fire, ice, and lightning at the massive object that was now starting to glow with frictional heat from the atmosphere. Ho-Oh and Lugia also came from their dwelling places and began attacking the object. It was no use. They tried getting higher into the atmosphere, but to no avail. They only grazed the asteroid. Mew realized that the ball had fallen into its court...

Mew focused its mind on the object and pictured the object going away towards the burning sun. No use, since Mew didn't have enough strength to push the asteroid back into space. Mew focused on slowing the asteroids descent instead. Mew was caught off gaurd as its telekinesis was joined by the telekinesis of others. The minds of the others were inside the asteroid!

The asteroid sped towards the earth's surface quicker now! It was heading towards a remote region to the west. Quickly, with the help of Mew and the other minds, the asteroid impacted just lightly enough to cause a massive earthquake. It hit the pangean continent with such force that Mew had to proceed into the void of space to stop from falling due to dizziness at the sonic blast that was drilling deep into the earth. The Titans joined Mew- all five of the Titans. They nearly rammed into a panicking Aerodactyl as they shot with ease through the earths atmosphere. They watched silently from space as chaos errupted on the big blue marble of their planet. Mew envisioned the Lapras that it had seen sufering a painful death as the geography of earth shifted into seven different land sectors with water ecompassing them all around. Doubtless that mankind would die out as would most animals and the very small Pokemon population upon the earth.

Finally, hours later, mass erruptions of water cyclones and huge bursts of volcanic activity ceased all over the globe. Mew and the Titans returned to earth and their hearts sank into the depths at what they saw...

Death reigned upon the world. Skeletons of human and animal alike littered the seas and the lands. The five remaining Legenday Pokemon cried out to God in the heavens in bitter sadness. Huge tears began to roll from their eyes. The tears began to disperse in every direction. From the same "nowhere" that the malevolent Celebi had appeared from, millions more of that species and some of the Gastly evolution chain crossed a dimensional border and began to weep as well. The droplets of tears soon became oceans. A sudden light shown through darkening clouds of mist and ash and rubble that had followed the catastrophe. The tears that were being cried by Mew and its companions started to sparkle with magnificence. The oceans and piles of dead bodies began to regain wholeness, their flesh literally regrowing before Mew's moistening eyes. All creatures lived once more, and Mew saw the clouds of poison begin to clear from the sky. What shown through was the brightest sunlight Mew had ever witnessed!

Mew had failed to notice that most plant life had been destroyed, and as a refreshing rain began to fall in the beautific luminesence of the golden sun, the vegetation regrew in fast motion. An instant season of spring began. The earth had turned from a doomed sphere into a shimmering globe of vivid life!

Mew thought to Ho-Oh and Lugia, Was it our tears? Did they revive the world?

The two titanic birds nodded.

Mew curiously looked back at the land above which they were hovering at several thousand feet up. Mew saw humans emerge from the fresh and lush plant life and point in awe at something that was causing a deep rumble. Mew thought perhaps it was another earthquake, but it was coming from the direction in which the asteroid had fallen. Hundreds of creatures from many different species- hundreds of species for the hundreds of creatures- were emerging from the distant asteroid.

Mew was curious. The species were obviously related. Perhaps they were even from the same race as Mew and the great Titans.

The name that all the humans began yelling was the one that stuck for thousands of years to come. As an arking rainbow appeared in the skies above, causing brilliant colors to envelope the atmosphere, all the freshly ressurected humans seemed in awe of these new beings. They must have looked mildly strange.

These new creatures, as well as Mew and some other creatures- such as Lapras and Golduck, who would be surrounded in mythology in parts of the world- who were native to earth were now dubbed as a species called--

Mew stopped. It zoomed in on the massive hunk of rock that had just decimated the world. As though the asteroid were a ship, a door or hatch at the center opened. From it came a figure who was cloaked in black. He wore golden braces all along his body. His beard clung close to his angular face. His hair was cropped very short for someone who looked so knightly.

His voice seemed to echo across the globe. He declared, "People of Earth, I bid you tidings of good will. My name is Kado! I have come from a planet called Terra as envoy to your race. The gift I bring with me will forever guide you. They will be your charges, your family, and your friends. Fellow humans, allow me to introduce you to Pocket Monsters. These creatures shall also be called Pokemon..."

Oooo. Okay, wow.

So the Celebi are a mean-spirited bunch, huh? Good thing Mew showed up to give it the smackdown.

I like the explanation of the world. Now we get why Lugia is the Guardian of the Sea--it's actually the whole sea! And Mew is just awesome.

*waits to see what happens next*

Okay, there's an interesting question. Actually, there are two schools of thought on that. There are two groups of Celebi. In allegory, they either represent:

a. angels and demons

or

b. elves and orcs

As there is a deeper backplot to Pokemon like Malevolent, I would have to go with the latter. It will all become clearer later. All I will say is that he belongs to a group of Celebi called "Fushashi." They are more twisted, perverse forms of their relative, the good Celebi. The good Celebi are known less widely by the name "Fusherubs." (Fushashi is a derviative of Japanese meaning "evil seed." Fusherub is also a derivative that means "elven seed.") The Celebi that Sam Oak met as a child is part of the Fusherub order. He also figures into this story, as does Mew.

However, Mewtwo is going to be a much larger focus in the story than either of them.

Since it seems to be doing so well, I may as well post the second chapter now. After that, I'm off to start on that DiamondShippy fic you recommended I do, RG. :)

Okay, this one could get a little confusing if I don't explain it. In this chapter, we meet Chris Brockner. (Or, if you're a fan of the "Japanese version," Kurisu Bakayuushi. That last name translates out to "stupidly brave." :) I thought it fit.)

We are going to encounter Chris in three time periods here. The first Chris we will meet is Chris from the year 1998. He is just starting out as a Pokemon trainer. We will hear more about Chris's past as the story progresses, so don't worry! (Like the Beedrill fight scene. Everyone loved that one on Serebii net.)

The second Chris we will meet is the Chris that will be our present character. He is in the year 1999. He's the one that will meet Mewtwo. Together, they will face many challenges with a girl named Maria. We won't technically meet her until the next story. All of this, however, leads up to the final Chris Brockner we will meet.

I speak of Colonel Chris Brockner, US military. This is a Chris Brockner that has faced all the trials and tribulations that will befall him over the course of JTC. I will say that he is a little worse for the wear. Mewtwo is with him, and has apparently been his friend and confidant for some time. The whole story of how their relationship came to be will begin in this first tale I'll be telling.

Oh, one more thing. You can ignore this if you'd like. It's just some artistic bunk I'm putting in. If you remember some of the debates I had with The Rusted One over at TPM, I told him every story needs a perspective. Every artwork needs a perspective, and, IMO, so does an artful story. So, this story, from what we can gather by the little conversation Chris and Mewtwo are having in 2020, takes place from Chris Brockner's perspective. He is retelling the story from memory sometime in the future. Even though personal words like "I" and "me" aren't used, it is all from Chris's perspective sometime in the future. This is similiar to how "Lord of The Rings" was actually taken from Bilbo Baggins' "There and Back Again."

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this second chapter! :) Remember, don't get confused. Think of Chris Brockner here as being treated as the three ghosts of Christmas- one is past, one is present, and the last is future.

Chapter 2: BRIGHT PAST, DARK FUTURE

In their future, our past... 1998

Chris Brockner stood before his cousin Sam. 14 years old and Chris was just now becoming a Pokemon trainer. 1998 had been a rough year, but Chris was not gonna be kept from his dream any longer- and Sam was here to humiliate him!

"Vulpix," Chris spoke to his first Pokemon. "I'm not gonna lie! Sam's Gastly is gonna be difficult to beat, but that didn't stop us from beating those Golbat in the woods."

Vulpix, Chris's first Pokemon, was tiny! Against his cousin Sam's Gastly, Vulpix looked like a microscopic speck of dirt. Vulpix bravely braced himself for the worst, ready to fight for his master once more.

Sam and Chris looked mildly alike. Sam, though, had his hair in a curly blonde ball. Chris had just started wearing shorter haircuts on his skullcap laced with darkest brown hair. Chris wore a baggy T-Shirt that was a sick looking turqoise color. His shorts were a faded grey. His sneaks looked much too small for his feet now. They were etched with grass stains. Chris's glasses hung loosely off his small nose with their large black girth. Sam, though, was a snappy dresser. The newest and hottest jeans, a snazzy looking black T-Shirt and polished white sneaks. Silvery dog tags lined his neck and a single earing graced his right ear. His glasses were silver and almost imperceptible.

Wardrobe didn't matter as the first die were cast in the battle. Both trainers ordered their Pokemon, "GO!!!"

One year later...

The winds blew gently over that small lawn in Pallett Town. Professor Oak's lab hadn't changed a bit. Chris, however, passing through on a revisit to Viridian City, had changed. His broken-in black jeans were a sure departure from the tattered gray shorts. His firm midnight blue T-Shirt was far superior to his old turqoise one. His new sneakers were big enough for years more of wear but still looked dirty because of all the traveling Chris had done. Chris's new glasses were silver framed with black sidepieces that held them firmly to his ears and temples. His nose had grown from a tiny speck to a firm facial feature. His piercing brown eyes looked keen underneath his furrowed eyebrows.

Vulpix had grown too, topping a little over average size for a Vulpix his age. Chris asked, "Remeber how inexperienced we were Vulpix? Did any of that matter, though? Na! We beat Sam and his Gastly anyhow!"

"Vul!" Vulpix chirped with a slight nod.

"Well, on to the Fall Games at Indigo! Let's go watch our old friend Ash kick some..." Chris stopped dead sentence. A graceful purplish figure blazed through the sky, and it looked like he was dragging a slew of Pokemon flying behind him! Chris gasped. "Huh?" His eyes narrowed-- it was him!

Vulpix began pouncing around and asking in Vulpixian what was going on. Chris answered, "Never mind, Vulpix, we've gotta get to that Stadium now! Let's go!" And off they ran towards the becknoning outskirts of Pallet Town- towards Viridian City!

The future, circa 2020

Chris looked out upon the desert sands, his long black coat blowing fiercely in the brutal storms that had the region. The landscape was now weathered, like his features. He took a swig of water and puffed on a mint cigarrette. Ninja Master Koga had introduced him to the idea of mint cigarrettes as an alternative to tobacco. Chris wouldn't drink alcohol or smoke tobacco. Time had taken enough toll on him. He needed to keep up his physical shape for the great war that had lasted twenty years and had only allowed him to go home for fifteen. All that time, he feared that one day the evil would return! When it did, it was his responsibilty to stop it!

He was Colonel Christopher John Brockner, American Armed Forces, Special Anti-Terror unit. His wife was Senator Maria Santanna. Not only was she a United States Senator, she was also a member of the Council for the War on Terror. Ironically, she had also become his boss. When there was a problem, she was the one that ordered him out to handle it. This time, the evil had come back where it had all began...

As a result of this war, Chris had missed a good portion of his children's lives. Maria had warned him not to get into this war. That was especially so when she had become his supervisor. He was one of the few who had such an option. Kids were being called in to fight and losing their lives - kids little older than his daughter and little older than he was that fateful day...

The day he had met Mewtwo. Mewtwo walked up to Chris, hearing his name mentioned within the compound of Chris's mind. He strode from a nearby tent barracks. He asked Chris, "Are you thinking about that day again."

Chris smiled wanly. His voice had once been full of vigor, but when he spoke it was crusty and rasped. "I haven't stopped thinking about that day for twenty-five years."

Chris ran a calloused hand through his unnaturally blonde hair. Maria had said he could have dyed it, but he said he was just glad he hadn't gone bald. Mewtwo spoke, "Do you ever regret--"

Chris snapped around an corrected Mewtwo, "No regrets!"

Mewtwo asked with a hint of sadness, "Even when you lost Dutison to the enemy? That's why you needed me here."

Chris sighed, and answered, "That we lost Dutison to the bastards was a loss, but how is that your fault?"

"This war started because of me," Mewtwo answered.

Chris had turned back to look at the desert again, but Mewtwo's words made his head fly in the mutant's direction. Chris lowered the mint cigarrette from his mouth, and he began tapping his left leg with his sleek bottle of water. He pointed a lone finger at Mewtwo - the pointer, of all things - and said, "Terror finds a way to strike. Whether it has a reason or not, it doesn't matter! It will find a way, and that's why it had to be stopped!" He turned back to the desert and put the mint cigarrette back in his mouth. The scent was so much more pleasing to his nose than smoke that had not only mint, but nicotene as well.

Mewtwo reminded, "This war took you away from your family! You just made it in time to see the birth of your son, and your daughter pratically grew up thinking you had died!"

Chris didn't bother to turn back to his friend, but only said, "It was my decision to leave home and get into this."

"Very well, if that is what you must believe," Mewtwo grumbled. "But I know better. I put you all in danger when I began travelling with you; I became public knowledge. Even after the second time, I was foolish enough to allow my existence to become common knowledge. Then, when the government said it was no deal to P1, that's when ..."

Mewtwo let those words hang in the air like a vile stench, then continued, "They stole America away, you know. They killed its spirit."

Chris sighed. He took an American flag - a miniature cloth one - and squatted down. He began running it through the sand. Mewtwo's eyes went wide, as this was considered a sign of disrespect to the flag.

Chris got up and twirled toward Mewtwo, holding a dirty American flag in front of him. Chris asked, "When it gets dirty, does it burn up. Despite that this flag has had a sheltered life and hardly every seen anything outside my pocket, when faced with dirt does it cease to exist?"

Mewtwo answered nervously, "No."

"That's like America. It doesn't burn up- it doesn't give up- just because it gets dragged through the dirt a little. Even when it's soaked in the grime of the trenches, in the filth of muddy waters while our enemies pound us with brutal assaults, this flag never gives up," Chris explained. He wiped off the flag with the palm of his hand and returned it to his pocket. It was against regs to treat a flag in such a way, but Chris had made a remarkable speech that did the impossible- it was found emotionally moving by Mewtwo.

Mewtwo swiftly changed the subject, "Do you remember that day?"

"Which one, the day we met or the day the terror started?" Chris asked.

"Either one," Mewtwo started. "But especially the day we met."

"Do you?" Chris asked.

Mewtwo answered between a deep chuckle, "Not worth a damn!"

"Then I'll tell you..." Chris answered. To Mewtwo, his tone seemed ominous. To anyone else, it may have seemed nostalgic. Either way, Chris began to recant the tale to Mewtwo right there in the middle of that harsh sandstorm. Mewtwo feared that there might be enemies hiding behind sand dunes nearby. If there were, however, Mewtwo would have felt their presence. Besides, if there were enemies listening in, they were going to be bored to tears by the time Chris was finished...

One little thing to say...this had better be some made-up event, because 'current events' issues tend to detract from the stories...

Diamondshipping fic! YES! YES YES!!!! YAAAAAY!!! Even though I have that massive backstory, so far, I've only mentioned it in "Amethyst Remembrance", and VAGUELY hint at it in the last chapter of "Crowning Glory"

It's a parallel event. More or less, I think we know what it's based on. However, I kept it abstract enough to not detract too much from the story. Furthermore, it is something we won't hear more about until Chris Brockner is done telling his story. That should about...

...
...

Another 36 short stories. :p Although, I may shift out of the thirteen story style format of mirroring anime "seasons." But, I think it's best if we don't hear about Colonel Brockner for a while. We have to get to know the 1999 Chris Brockner before we can even get close to understanding 2020 Chris Brockner. :)

This next part focuses around the man behind all evils- the devil! Well, not really. You'll remember how I said that all villians don't start out totally evil- this next character is one of them. As the story progesses (not necessarily this story, but in stories to come), we will meet him when he is a young, ambitious member of a most sinister order. He will be naive, zealous, and unsure of himself.

The future version of this character, however, circa the year 2002, has already lost any intention of redemption. As we go story be story from 1999 to 2002, we will see this character slowly lose heart and eventually become cold of heart. This character's name is Hiakiu! He is Chris Brockner's yet-to-be arch-enemy.

Right now, Hiakiu is sending Malevolent- that evil little Fushashi Celebi we met earlier- out on a mission through time. He is to seek and destroy Mewtwo!

Before I start the story, I just want to tell Black Gabbiani that I am working on "The Memoirs of Giovanni diRocketti: A DiamondShipppy Fanfic." It's actually coming along quite well! So, thanx for inventing DiamondShippy to begin with! :)

Now, ladies and gentleman, chapter three of JTC! Enjoy!

Chapter 3 : DARKNESS ARRIVES, THE LIGHT SHALL CONQUER

Twenty-five years earlier...

The chambers were darkened. He was preparing for the mission that would change his life. Malevolent had been genetically enhanced so that he was stronger than he had been when Pokemon had crashed on earth. He had spent years trying to wipe out the population of Pocket Monsters on earth, but his attempts had failed over and over again thanks to the succesive efforts of Kado and Mew. Now, however, Malevolent had found a true ally in his midst.

Hiakiu was young, but not as young as the Hiakiu that came from this present time. This Hiakiu had come from 2002, three years from the time they stood in now- 1999. Malevolent was tall and lanky. His hide had undergone asthetically unpleasing changes during his dedication ritual in which he had given himself to evil's bidding. In exchange for his service, he had recieved physical "advantages" that other Celebi did not have. He now stood on Scyther-like feet with matching legs. This was a step up from the small stumps that monsters of his race usually bore. He especially differed from other Celebi in that his flesh was brown instead of green. It was a symbol of death- his true inner being. His eyes were red, and he held out scythes which put those on a Scyther to shame. On those menacingly gleaming scythes were stains of blood from past pray. Malevolent gave his "master" a toothy grin, revealing large, needly teeth that were also blood-stained crimson.

"Tell me, how should I go about 'business' while I'm there?" Malevolent feigned that he was going along with the plan that had been layed out by the dark master Hiakiu.

Hiakiu spun around in fury. His face was dotted with vericose veins where blood vessels had given way to the stress of his sorcerer practices. Dark energy had taken its toll on Hiakiu. A crimson streak in the shape of a ligthning bolt was carved from the center of his forehead down to the bridge of his nose. This contrasted Hiakiu's pale skin. An unusual touch, to be sure, as the rest of Hiakiu- both his outfit and hair- was entirely black! A black robe, long and shiny black hair, unseen black boots and gloves, and even a black vestment and trousers composed Hiakiu's overall appearance. The only source of divergance was the lone, red-eyed golden skull pendant that Hiakiu wore around a silver chain on his neck. It stared hauntingly at Malevolent. This on top of the unbridled hatred that danced like flames in Hiakius deep murky eyes would have frightened most Earthers to the point of death.

Hiakiu was from an Earth-twin planet called Terra. On Terra, there was a constant war ensuing. The war involved two continents. One continent was named Veritar- a continent that emodied everything decent, just, and reverent. The other continent was Lyara- a continent whose inhabitants way of life embodied everything immoral, self-serving, and blasphemous. When Hiakiu spoke, his usually steady voice trembled with rage. "Do not lie to me, you rotting piece of vegetable filth!!! You have no intention of fulfilling your mission! You do not wish to destroy Chris Brockner, you want only to take over this disgusting planet!"

Malevolent shifted uncomfortably. As powerful as he was, his power didn't hold a candle to that of Hiakiu. Hiakiu, like all Terrans- not to be confused with "Earthers", possesed psychokinetic abilities that most psy Pokemon could only dream of. That, coupled with their often deadly magick, posed a great threat to all but few beings in the universe. Malevolent, fearing for his own life, admitted the one thing that he and Hiakiu despised most-- the truth! "I am interested in enslaving this pathetically beneavolent race, sire, but I assure you that I would not dare to do so without allowing you to share some of the power."

"I am not interested in the power you can offer me," Hiakiu spat, gesturing with a gloved hand as though he were literally shoving Malevolent's offer aside with the appendage. "The darkness has given me far greater choke-hold on the galaxy. But in the interest of seeing that humanity does not interfere with our mission, I will cut you a deal. If you can destroy Chris Brockner and Mewtwo on your own, then I shall allow you rule over this planet. I will go back to Terra and claim victory- taking my role as Dark Mage and succesor to the Great Dark Leader. Perhaps, then, I may even dare to slay Dark Leader and take my place as his superior. Then, I can give you your petty planet! Yet, those are my conditions."

Malevolent formed his needly teeth into an even more terrifying grin. Hiakiu's gaunt face remained umoved by this emotional uncovering. "I accept your conditions, oh evil one!"

In order to cover his presence while on Earth, Malevolent used his psychokinetic abilities to twist and curve and compress into the form of an ordinary Celebi. Malevolent opened up a quantum portal that would bring him out near Mewtwo's chambers in Paradise Canyon, Johto. Before leaving, he assured, "I have a plan that is certain to succeed, master!"

As soon as Malevolent was gone, Hiakiu whispered to himself, "That, and a quarter, will get you a bag of chips and a guided tour of Houen! Fool! Doesn't he remember what Chris Brockner is capable of?"

Suddenly, Hiakiu realized that it wouldn't matter. He knew Malevolent would fail. When he did, he would be properly punished and Hiakiu would easily finish the job. He was certain that he had left Kado three years in the future, and once Hiakiu destroyed Mewtwo and Chris Brockner, Kado would no longer be a problem! He took this opportunity to chuckle- a noise which turned into a massive roar of raucous, maniacal laughter. Evil, for the first time in history, would ultimately be triumphant!

Unfortunately, it would be nineteen temporal time loops before either good or evil dragged themselves out of a stalemate...

Next Chapter : A HISTORY OF A HISTORY FORGOTTEN

:look: What? No replies? Oh well! What's wrong with two chapters a day. Here's the next one. It should be entertaining.

Oh, and remember when I said the stories were gonna go on forever? Well, I've cut their "seasons" in half. Find yourself wondering where this "Kado" is and who is? That will be revealed around five stories from now.

Oh, and not all stories are as long as this one. This story is about twenty-two chapters, but it also goes into Baka-san's history indepth for about six or seven chapters at around the middle. The story after "The Dawn of Darkness," is called "The Start of Journeys Present." It is only eleven chapters long, but I feel it is as good as this one.

So, enjoy chapter 4! Here, we meet Mewtwo-- nuff said! Mewtwo is under the musings of one Justice- one of the good Celebi I was telling you about. Whether the story states it or not, this is the Celebi that Sam Oak met as a child. He has been promoted to a high position in his order and has learned to speak the human language. Just thought I'd give you the info before I continue.

Chapter 4 : A HISTORY OF A HISTORY FORGOTTEN

Clones... For Mewtwo that's all there was. Clones that would never be tainted by human ideas. Mewtwo had settled this paradise for his fifty or so copies. They weren't copies of himself, but rather that of Pokemon that had belonged to others. There was the Pikachu whose DNA was slightly enhanced to provide a Pikachu's accuracy and stability with the raw unbridled electric power of a Pichu. Mewtwo had taken the DNA template of this clone from a Pikachu that had belonged to a great Pokemon trainer named Ash Ketchum.

Ash Ketchum was a human that Mewtwo believed to be unique as living beings went. Ash, unlike some other trainers, was not concerned with dominance over his Pokemon. He befriended them, whereas most other trainers Mewtwo saw simply used their Pokemon as soldiers to conquer "leagues" and challenge overlords at establishments called "Pokemon gyms." Mewtwo had served at one of these pitiable insitutions. As institutions went, a gym was little more than a Pokemon prostitution house. Pokemon were battled- oft times against their will- to glorify their human dictators known as "trainers." These individuals were the pimps of the Pokemon World, taking Pokemon from their parents and siblings in the wild and trapping them in small spherical prisons.

As warped and demented as any trainer would have believed Mewtwo's idea of Pokemon life to be, Mewtwo thought that Ash Ketchum was simply kidding himself. Mewtwo believed Ketchum's theories to be twisted. Ketchum actually believed that he was doing his Pokemon a favor by keeping them captive...

Perhaps he was right.

It had been three months- since about the human month of late July of the human year A.D. 1999 that Mewtwo had brought about wrath upon four gallant Pokemon trainers. Of all of them, Ketchum was certainly the most noble of all. Mewtwo had whole-heartedly tried to contact other trainers whose Pokemon he had thought to be trained to superior strengh. There was the indominable A.J. of Vermillion City. Duplica the Ditto Trainer was another. There was a girl in New Bark Town named Maria who had recently performed in second at a Pokemon League competition. Then there was him...

Chris Brockner was a trainer Mewtwo had first "met" at the Viridian Gym during his own tenure there. Mewtwo had always marveled at the way that Brockner displayed acting talent. Giovanni had used Mewtwo to try and fool Brockner into thinking that the mobster was turning straight. However, Mewtwo sensed Chris did not buy it but acted like he did anyway. Usually, most humans- as Mewtwo had observed- that showed ignorance in the face of such an obvious plot usually weren't acting. This was one of the things that spurred Mewtwo onto finding out all he could about Chris Brockner when the mutant broke off from Giovanni and went back to New Island where he had been created.

Chris Brockner had been at Pokemon training for about one year, Mewtwo had discovered. He had trained a Vulpix several dozens of levels and never evolved it into a Ninetails. Brockner believed that doing so would impede Vulpix's status growth. He was right, because that same Vulpix had led him into first place against Maria at the League competition. Mewtwo had wanted to summon Brockner to his gathering. He had sent out an invitation via his Dragonite, but the interference of two Team Rocket imbeciles had put Dragonite's timing off. By the time Mewtwo's Dragonite had sucessfully headed in Brockner's direction- at the Indigo Stadium just after the League closing ceremonies- Mewtwo had begun a violent storm to test the trainers already en route to Mewtwo's castle fortress on the distant isle of New Island. Mewtwo waited to begin the "festivities" when three or four out of two-hundred invited trainer's arrived. He waited for Dragonite to return with Chris Brockner's invitation reading, "Sure, heck yeah! I'll come right away!"

Mewtwo's invitation had declared that Mewtwo himself was the world's greatest Pokemon trainer. How could a young man like Brockner with master ambitions resist the call of the world's greatest trainer. If Ketchum couldn't resist, since Ketchum showed up at New Island, then Brockner certainly wouldn't have passed up the chance.

Unfortunately, it was not a matter of what Chris Brockner wanted. Dragonite returned- injured and exhausted. Mewtwo proceeded with the "festivities." His idea of a party was to destroy all of Pokedom and mankind. Ash Ketchum had stopped Mewtwo by proving that it was possible for a human to selflessly care for all living beings...

Mewtwo had tried with mediocre success to wipe out the memory of the three trainer's and Ash-tachi. He tried to wipe their memories of their encounter with Mewtwo.

As to Chris Brockner, he had never even known that Mewtwo existed. Mewtwo had toyed with the idea of killing off everyone but Brockner. He would bring Chris Brockner to his island and use a battle as a test of Brockner's valor rather than a raging storm. He would keep Brockner alive a little bit longer than the rest of his fellow humans would be allowed to live.

But none of Mewtwo's plans had been carried out. He had brought the trainers to his castle, but he had decided that it was best if he lived in secret in a world that was ruled by humans rather than rule a world without humanity. Or perhaps he would have ruled in a world where humans lived in secret to mutiny Mewtwo's dynasty. There were certainly those that could beat Mewtwo...

And one of them was meeting with Mewtwo right now. Justice- the nickname for the premiere Celebi time detective of its species- was watching as the malevolent troublemaker of his species shot towards Purity Canyon for the twentieth temporal loop of the same event. This criminal that Justice was monitoring had beem appropiately named "Malevolent" by the indominable Mew. Mew had been the arch being of the Pokemon species and had ensured their successful integration on earth once the meteor containing the other several hundred Pokemon species had landed on that planet. Mew had helped Kado to make Pokemon friends of humanity. (Though Mewtwo would have seen it that Mew was just helping to enslave otherwise free creatures.)

Malevolent had tried to interfere with that. Malevolent had percieved the new Pokemon life as a threat to its own existence and had commited acts of genocide on species of Pokemon that to this day were still extinct- or at least thought to be- despite the recent advance in science of gentetic cloning.

Cloning, however, had brought into the world the evil Mewtwo. Or, at least, people had thought Mewtwo was evil. However, Mewtwo had denied Malevolent what the creature had wanted of the strange clone mutant. Malevolent had learned of Mewtwo's previous plot of seeing in the downfall of humanity and most of the Pokemon population. Mewtwo had told Malevolent that he wished to be left alone and that humanity's welfare was of neutral interest to him. Malevolent had followed up with a promise to make Mewtwo only second to the evil member of the Celebi race itself in a New World Hierarchy. Malevolent had promised that humans and Pokemon would worship Mewtwo and his clones as though they were gods.

Mewtwo's exact words had been, "Forget your gods and go to hell!"

Malevolent had attempted different tactics for fifteen more temporal loops and had then gotten fed up with waiting for Mewtwo to make a decision. Malevolent knew that as long as Mewtwo was not with Malevolent itself, then it was possible that Mewtwo could be turned for the better of humanity. If Mewtwo were to team up with human that didn't disgust Mewtwo with desires for dominance, then Mewtwo and that human could pose a serious threat to Malevolent's new global enslavery.

Malevolent began slaughtering Mewtwo after that- in each timeline- but the Celebi species had continued the loop depsite the fact that Malevolent had achieved its goal of murdering Mewtwo. What was the reason that the Council of Elders wished to continue this charade instead of just imprisoning Malevolent. Perhaps it was what the Celebi knew and what the humans didn't that made Malevolent a necessity to the timeline. That, however, was a story that Justice was not ready to play in his head once more. Especially since it seemed to involve that temporally omniscient psychopath known as Hiakiu.

Instead, Justice thought about the simpler terms of his mission. In order for the timeline to be preserved, Mewtwo would indeed have to pair with a human. This act would ensure humanity's future was not further corrupted by outside forces and forces internal to humanity itself. Justice had not been told of whom Mewtwo would make his human partnership, just that the time cop would know the human when Justice spotted him. Justice could reveal certain facts about the future of Mewtwo and that human to the pair, just not "the specifics." Justice knew what that meant.

Justice hoped that the human would come this time. In a way, Justice knew he would. Why? Because Mew knew of the human as well. Though Justice suspected that Mew might know even more about him than he did.

Each time Malevolent had approached Mewtwo, Mew would make mental stickies- a trick that Mewtwo didn't know how to do yet. A mental sticky was to a psy Pokemon what a string around the finger was to a human. Mental stickies were very effective in temporal loops and aided a future Pokemon to warn its past self of coming events. It was a piece of mental information- resonant brain waves, or what have you- that hung in the space-time continuum like a satellite-sent digital code of bits and bytes that hung in the air. The data and the stickies had this in common- all they needed was a decoder. For the information, a decoder box was needed. For stickies, it was a psy Pokemon. Usually, the nudging forewarning of stickies was most clearly interpreted by the psy Pokemon who sent it.

Mew most assureldy knew about the human and Mewtwo, otherwise Mew would have destroyed Malevolent single-handedly. Mew was undisputabley the oldest and most experienced Pokemon on earth. The problem was that Mew wasn't very agressive and wouldn't attack full-force without some serious provocation.

So, Mew or not, it was still up to the combined power of the coming human and Mewtwo to defeat Malevolent. When would that be? Justice remembered an old human cliche that fit the circumstances quite well. "Only time will tell..."

Wow. Multiple timelines. But that's what you get when you have renegade Celebi running around. XD Mucking around with the time stream is never good, though, as countless other things show (I have Back to the Future in mind, LOL)... and with all this politicking and power gathering, something very bad is found to happen.

This is a heck of a mythos here. Is there a sort of guide we can have for everyone, like... JTC For Dummies or something? A listing of the races and allegances (i spelled that wrong, i know) as of the beginning, and a cast of characters?

Heh heh! Well, you figure, when you're inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's works, you're going to need to explain some of the history ahead of time. I have some notes down on the past of "Terra." I can give you all the allegiances, but some of them will actually be settled later in the story.[/i] For example, did you know that there is a connection between Hiakiu and the "new" Madame Boss that I talked about in my DiamondShipping fic?

That's why I hate posting these stories in chapters. For those who would really like to read the story in whole, I should probably post up the whole story on my own personal webpage. (I've got the space coming from Geocities after I signed for Yahoo! Mail.)

Anyway, I'll have a guide ready for you shortly. I've just got to polish my notes. On to today's chapter. Today's chapter is also slightly hard to comprehend. :) In this chapter, Mewtwo meets with Malevolent. Malevolent, as you may know from previous chapters, has taken the form of a normal-looking Celebi. He has some kind of vendetta against Mewtwo, and there is a few reasons behind that. This is because this Malevolent has battled against Mewtwo before. This story is indeed a time-travel story. There is a lot of temporal mechanics to it-- I apologize! ^^;

However, I have tried to keep things as simple as possible. As this is the first story of six that deals with the beginning of Chris and Mewtwo's journey, I can only say that there are many plot elements that are solved in later stories. There is a great adversarial rivlary taken up by Mewtwo and Malevolent in later stories, so that would explain some of the harsh feelings that the "future" Malevolent feels about Mewtwo.

Also, this is a final "temporal loop" in a series of nineteen loops that have passed between this chapter and the last. Think of a temporal loop as a door that wasn't meant to be closed because someone left something in the room they were supposed to take with them. The door keeps opening itself, and the person keeps going back inside. The door will not stay closed until the person gets the item they forgot.

In Mewtwo's case, he has changed the timeline with each of the nineteen loops with "psychic stickies." (Or "mental stickies" as they were refered to in the last chapter.) A psychic sticky is a psychic message sent from one time into another. A psychic Pokemon is usually best in in deciphering these telepathic "Post-It" notes.

So- before I stop blabbing ^^; - I'm getting the history of JTC worked into a guide. There's all kinds of interesting information in there. There's even an extensive look at the background of this "Terra" planet that I mention so often.

Also, I have decided that are few chapters of this story are going to go into their own thread. They are basically just background info on Chris Brockner and don't contribute much to the story- aside from some good battle scenes. So, the entire second "act" of this story will go into it's own thread called "Pokemon JTC : That Which is Past..." It isn't long- only about five chapters. I may post two today, two tommorow, and one the following day. So, keep an eye out for that.

On top of that, my DiamondShippy fic will be getting another chapter posted today. So, for those of you who are a fan of "The Memoirs of Giovanni diRocketti," there'll be a second chapter up! :)

Anyway, enjoy this chapter! I know there is a lot of backstory you guys would like to know- but I'm working on that! ^_^

Chapter 5 : THE WRATH OF CELEBI

The familiar surrounding of a private forest paradise greeted the relaxed Mewtwo as he opened his eyes. Mewtwo had been jarred from rest and meditation by an abrupt change in the psychic atmosphere of Mount Cana. Usually, all Mewtwo felt was contentment and pleasure. Now, Mewtwo felt an invading wave of anger and pain.

"Pikachu, Meowth," called Mewtwo dreamily. The clone of Ash Ketchum's Pikachu and the shared Meowth of Team Rocket's Jesse and James had become the proteges of Mewtwo. As students, Mewtwo fed the two creatures as much as he knew about the world around them and the ones outside of this place...

Mewtwo was bothered by the silence. His two students did not come to him as they often would when summoned. Mewtwo, had he been fond of human speech, would have simply dismissed this as the inability of Pikachu and Meowth to hear his voice. Mewtwo, however, was more in favor of telepathy than of vocal speech.

As Mewtwo focused his eyes and his mind, he was greeted by the visage of Mew not more than twenty feet away hovering at the edge of the lake that graced the Mewtwo's hollow. Mew spun ot face Mewtwo, and the original told its copy that it had sent the clones to a safer part of Mount Cana in light of an impending danger that was heading for Paradise Canyon. Mew did not even use synthesized telepathic speech, but instead used nothing but telepathically relayed thoughts and images to explain.

Mewtwo nodded- a human gesture. He shot up over the jagged edges of the mountain and looked down to see once more that Mount Cana more resembled a lush forest that was flourishing inside a long-since lavaless volcano. The "mountain" was hollowed all the way to its limits. Mewtwo's train of thought and admiration for his choice of living sector was quickly crashed as he was hit by a swift force that drove him back to the cave that he called his home. Mewtwo slammed hard into the base of his cave, the exterior fortunately being smooth enough so that jagged rock didn't pierce his body. Instead, he was greeted with echoing pain in every fiber of his being. Mewtwo refocused and saw a green fireball etching towards him at top speeds!

Mewtwo searched himself to identify this Pokemon. It was quickly determined that it was a member of the Celebi species, which rarely came from a dimension parallel to this on to visit the physical confines of planet earth. Mewtwo knew of only a few Celebi who were stationary in this dimension. With Mew's gentetic structure came Mew's memories, a gift from a scientist named Psychota who had been an executive on the Mew cloning team. Mad as a hatter, Psychota had refined cloned impulse recovery techniques to allow Mewtwo to remember a timeless stream of events experienced by Mew itself. Had it not been for the more docile and well-meaning scientist on the head of that project- Doctor Smith- Mewtwo feared to think of what other acts of butchery Psychota would have performed on the then-infant Mewtwo.

For this fact, Mewtwo was able to limit the number of agressive Celebi that were regulars on earth to one. "Malevolent!" Mewtwo mimicked clinched jaws in his telepathic tone. Mewtwo was briefly horrified by subtle flashbacks of Pokemon genocide commited by Malevolent.

Mewtwo knew that whatever Malevolent was up to, it couldn't have been a good thing. Mewtwo was determined to stop it! He let forth a blow from his mind that would have knocked a simpler Pokemon mentally reeling and its body sprawling- not so here. Instead, Malevolent sent the wave of confusion back in on Mewtwo and knocked him against a wall having a sharp, jagged consistency. Mewtwo suddenly realized as the pain ran through his body that he was bleeding intensely. Then, he realized that a piece of jagged rock had torn through his arm. He sent a wave of healing power to that spot and willed it back to health. Though this was the worst thing Mewtwo could have done. If he had left his mind free he would have known why Malevolent did what he did next.

Suddenly the hellish critter moved back as though in surrender. For a moment Mewtwo had thought Malevolent had given up the fight. Then he realized that this made no sense since Malevolent had shown that he could easily triumph. Suddenly, Mewtwo turned to see a wave of water bounding towards him. A water attack from a Grass/Psychic Pokemon?

Mewtwo inspected the liquid with great curiousity. Whatever this stuff was, it certainly appeared fluidic. Upon scanning it, though, Mewtwo realized that the wave of water was really some form of energy!

"Now who's on their one-way trip to hell, Mewtwo?" Malevolent telepathically inquisited. Mewtwo had no idea what Malevolent was getting at! He dug deep into Malevolent's consiousness, trying to penetrate several layers of the criminal's mind. All he managed to do was hit one plane of thought straight on!

Malevolent's recent thoughts was analgous to standing in a lake of mud to Mewtwo. In the mud were little candy hearts with conversational wordings written on them. Celebi's mind was indeed a demented carnival.

The nicest was, "Pleasure to see you... again!"

On one, Mewtwo read, "I'll kill you!"

The next one read, "400 years in the past! Goodbye!"

On another was written, "You'll suffer in time!"

The next, "Mankind will hail me as superior!"

Finally, Mewtwo managed to piece the hearts in this deranged psyche together. Malevolent's intentions became clear. Mewtwo had been approached by this creature before in request of assistance. Malevolent had asked Mewtwo for help in world domination in a temporal plane that existed before the current one. Mewtwo had refused- and not with the kindest of words. This was in spite of the fact that Malevolent had offered Mewtwo a position second to godhood.

Now, Malevolent was going to establish his own kingdom without the help of Mewtwo. In fact, instead of killing Mewtwo as Malevolent had mysteriously done in temporal planes previous, Malevolent was only going to imprison Mewtwo long enough for Malevolent to establish his kingdom. This would be a timespan of three hundred years with an extra hundred years time served in the past by Mewtwo to ensure that old wounds would only get worse with anti-time! That was an extra hundred years for Mewtwo to suffer and weaken with wounds that Malevolent was inflicting now.

Mewtwo felt his body begin to rip apart. He resisted a telepathic scream and used his energy to instead dig up a few more of those muddy candy hearts! On the ones that Mewtwo figuratively gathered this time, they gave blow by blow instructions on how to create a temporal bubble of his own. How arrogant and presumptuous of Malevolent to attempt such a thing and leave the plans public.

Mewtwo fashioned a time prison for Malevolent with great haste. The temporal wave and the rest of the components were perfect to a "t." Mewtwo sensed, as time was ripped out from under him as a carpet was pulled from under one's legs, that Malevolent would be going exactly where Mewtwo was- four hundred years ago!

Mewtwo had to get out before Malevolent did! He had to find some way of saving humanity!

"You really care about humans, don't you?" Pikachu had asked in a series of pika's and chu's.

"No," Mewtwo had calmly answered. "Humanity is simply a shield for us. There are some human hypocrites that would inadvertently protect us from other forces that could possibly do us harm."

What would happen without that shield? If someone destroyed humanity, unless they specifically knew where to find Mewtwo, the mutant and his clones could theoretically live forever inside of Paradise Canyon. The bad weather that often hit the mountainous ranges of that region in Johto was a natural deterrent to prying eyes- the reason Mewtwo had picked it!

However, Malevolent knew Mewtwo's number. Mewtwo didn't want to see anything happen to his clones. He would have victory over Malevolent for them! And, if Mewtwo had to make a temporary alliance with humans?

Mewtwo would do what needed to be done...

Next Chapter : TO SAVE THE HUMANS

Okay guys, today's chapter is short and sweet - the way I like it. :) Anyway, this story is a quater of the way through. I only have three of these stories done completely. I have to get some more done reeeaaallly soon!

Today's chapter has some of Mewtwo's musings will trapped in that time bubble Malevolent put him in. WARNING: There are heavy references to temporal mechanics in this one. Those who wince at all the Star Trek time travel eps should stay away from this one!

Though, you might want to read it anyway. It tells alot about how Mewtwo views humanity.

So, happy reading!

Chapter 6 : TO SAVE THE HUMANS

Humanity. Mewtwo thought about the true pathetic nature of humanity. Humanity was filled with thinking that often crossed the line of hipocrisy.

Humans desired peace, yet they built weapons to destroy each other instead of building defense to make themselves invulnerable and make warfare a pointless game. They sought enlightenment, yet they could not move beyond principles that they had learned in the dark ages. When they did, they did not simply expand their beliefes, they threw their old ones out the window and ended up worse off than they were when they were retentive, pompous do-gooders with no real desire for helping others but only enlarging their own egos with their self-righteous power.

Humanity, in the past and even to the present, had pegged Pokemon as evil supernatural entities. Many in the Dark Ages had believed Pokemon's powers to be supernatural rather than biological and had pegged many Pokemon as incarnations of Satan himself. The truth was, it was humanity's own ignorance that had earned Pokemon evil reputations...

Humanity had a small mind. Mewtwo really saw no reason that humanity should remain in existence, only for the fact that there was a symbiosis involved which Mewtwo's own existence hinged upon theirs. Otherewise, humanity was a mass conflict of wars and deception. Humanity needed a global community, yes, but all attempts at a global community usually resulted in a more machine culture than something that was personal and human. People were made into mere numbers rather than living beings. One person served as a dictator- served as watcher with no checks and balances to keep that individual in check...

The truth was, humanity was becoming as cold and closed-minded as the machines that they relied on. Except, there were exceptions...

Some human beings still cared deeply for their fellow man. Chris Brockner was perhaps one of them, and Mewtwo was certain that he'd have to ally himself with a human similiar. But why did Brockner always come to mind...

Mewtwo had a hard time of telling time in this bubble. He was weakened, and his body could barely stand to take the punishment of having to release mass jolts of psy energy. After all, a goodly amount of psy energy had to be displaced in order to break down this barrier. Most of the time he would have to rest because, although he was fairly certain he could not die inside the temporal displacement bubble, he wanted to make certain that he didn't come out of the bubble weaker than he had gone in. Even if he were realeased at the time that Malevolent had appointed, if he was strong he could still fight Malevolent, right?

Mewtwo made another attempt at escape, but the barrier was still very strong and Mewtwo was still very weak. It had already been 100 years since Malevolent had pronounced Mewtwo's sentence of being trapped in time for 400 years. Mewtwo had tried to do the same to the rogue Celebi, but Mewtwo hoped that his own job had been better or equal to the one Malevolent had done in the construction of these anti-time bubbles.

Mewtwo's estimated get-the-hell-out-of-here ETA was about another 200 years the way things were going. It seemed that everytime Mewtwo would try to break the barrier- either with excessive force or with a sudden burst of power- the barrier would punish him back. He had tried to simply obliterate the temporal stasis bubble twice. Each time, he had felt unexplicably weakened afterward; and each time, it would set him back about ten years. Finally, Mewtwo realized that he had to take it slowly and easy to get the barrier opened.

However, what if Malevolent were making better time at his stasis bubble. What if Malevolent's added strength gave him an edge in this little race to escape first. Malevolent might escape sooner than Mewtwo. Then what would happen?

Let us see, Mewtwo surmised. Malevolent sent me back three hundred years in the past in 1999- with the field made to last for four hundred years from that point forward. That means that I was sent back to the year 1699; I am currently in the year 1799; and I should be in this bubble until 2099. So, let us say my target escape date is 1999. If Malevolent escapes even fifty years prior to that... Then from 1949 onward, Earth is going to be one hell of a place to live for the inhabitants.

So, the question was no longer, What if I do not escape on time? The question now became, What if I escape too late? The answer was doom and damnation for the entire human race. And Mewtwo had a sinking feeling that Malevolent wasn't working alone, anyway. There was, very possibly, someone or something behind him. That force was, from all Mewtwo could sense, even more evil and powerful than Malevolent. Mewtwo shuddered when he thought about how the world would even begin to stand up to this creature and his phantom master. Mewtwo knew that if he himself stood alone, even he had no chance at all...

Next Chapter : TIME IN THE MAKING, being the first chapter in the second part of this story.

Heavy Mewtwo stuff in this, guys. I try to portay 'Two in the most accurate way I can. This is a good read -- especially for Mewtwo fans. Ii desu yo!

PART II : That Which is Destiny...

Chapter 7 : TIME IN THE MAKING

Mewtwo saw the terror in vivid detail. The nightmare was peppered with hoardes of peasants forced to live in the in the streets. All of them were poor, hungry, and filthy. Heroes had tried to save these people; heroes had failed. Rebels had risen against the government- one ruled by a Pocket Monster- to put an end to tyranny. Rebels had become martyrs. 120 years had gone by since Mewtwo had been trapped in this bubble, and it was time he tried harder to get out of it!

Mewtwo was starting to relish even human company. Though Mewtwo was a loner and could survive better than most humans in solitary confinement, being all alone made him realize that people weren't so bad. He remembered Ash Ketchum; the only good human he had ever known. Every once in a while though, he would glimpse the future and see someone ahead who would revolutionize Mewtwo's way of life. He saw a young man, yes, but one who was wise with ancient wisdom that would be passed down to him sometime soon.

The one feeling that Mewtwo got most, though, was that he had to get in touch with this young man. Together, they might be able to stop Malevolent and save the world from destruction. The young man was the x that had to be solved for in the equation. However, as time went by, Mewtwo began to realize that x was very realistically the young man that had been on Mewtwo's mind since he got into this stasis bubble. Mewtwo began to firmly believe that it was none other than Chris Brockner...

===

"Welcome to Indigo Plateau." Nurse Joy greeted the visitors. "I'm sure you've all heard about the Pokemon League games. If you attend you could get a chance to win an all expense cruise on the St. Anne II."

Chris looked down at Vulpix. Chris Brockner and Vulpix had endured countless trials of destiny together. "Ha! The St. Anne II I remember when we were on board the first St. Anne. That was where we first met Ash Ketchum. Remember, Vulpix! It was all thanks to you and Pikachu! You and all those other Vulpix volunteered for battle." Chris got a disturbed look on his face. "Of course they didn't show that in the anime."

"Vulpix!" Vulpix responded.

"Are you Chris from the town of New Bark Town?" the familiar voice of Ash Ketchum came from behind.

Chris turned slowly and came face to face with Ash. Vulpix turned slowly and came face to face with Pikachu.

"Ash! Long time no see! How are you?" Chris asked.

"Vulpix!" said Vulpix.

"I'm doing pretty good." Ash answered. "I hear you placed great at the Pokemon League last year!"

"It was hard to place number one; but if you try hard enough, you could do it, too." Then a kind of irritated look came to his face. "Though I was lucky. My next to last challenger was some girl from Southwest New Bark town. We fought in an experimental "blind battle." All we were told was that we were challengers of the opposite sex and what Pokemon we were using in order. I really wanted a 'blind date' and her phone number!'" Chris smiled rather naughtily at this comment.

Ash simply whined, "Eww! Girls are gross! And their stinky with perfume, too! All they care about is how pretty their clothes are and stupid stuff like that! Isn't that right, Pikachu?"

Ash's Pokemon was with Chris. He was mimicking Chris's current gesture of raising his eyebrows up and down in a nasty little adolescent gesture of a naughty nature. Ash blared at his Pokemon in disillusionment. "Pikachu!!!"

Pikachu immediately stopped the "naughty eyes" bit and moved into defensive mode. He shot back, "Pika-pi! Pikachu!"

Chris also stopped his eye movements and moved back to the subject of the Pokemon League. He appeared to be thinking when it seemed as though he happened upon a thought he didn't like. The irritation hadn't been much before. It had just been building until now for what Chris said next. "The last challenger was my cousin, Sam. He was no big deal. He prided himself on his Charizard. It only took a tiff with my Blastoise to ensure Charizard was out to sleep." Chris held the Pokeball of his Blastoise out proudly beside him. Then a rather heavy man walked right into his arm and caught him off balance. Chris toppled to the floor.

"Hey, you! Kid! Watch where you put your limbs, okay?" bellowed the large man in a gruff voice.

"Well watch where you're goin', why don't ya!" Chris belted out. His ears began to steam. Blastoise popped out of his Pokeball and saturated Chris in freezing cold water. When Blastoise stopped, Chris was freezing cold and shaking. "Brrr!" was all Chris could get out.

"Vullll!" Vulpix roared. Flaming streams enveloped the young man. He was a toasty black color when Vulpix was done. In his soft-boiled state, Chris struck a goofy salute.

His voice was brisque and unusually crisp when he snapped off, "I'd like to thank everyone involved for heating me up, dousing me, and then steaming me like celery!" The young man quickly lost composure and did an A-class facefault.

"So, are you going to the Pokemon League games?" Ash inquisited. "I'm going to be competing today."

"Yeah!" Chris answered as he got up and brushed off. "I'm going to stay here for the League games. Then I have to leave for Ecruteak City. I hear there's been some odd disturbances up in the caves near there. Some say it's a rare Pokemon; and if so I want to be there to catch it... Or at least see it!"

"Well, good luck with that Pokemon, Chris!" Ash said.

"Good luck with the Pokemon League, Ash!" Chris returned the gesture of good will.

===

200 years... And why was Mewtwo even trying? Did he even care about humans? He himself had once been their deadliest enemy. Only a few people had seen Mewtwo, and Ash Ketchum had "alien abduction syndrome." He remembered bits and pieces that he had apparently told the press. He said the information came out in deja vu and dreams, as though he had been abducted by aliens and then his captors had tried wiping his memory with just enough success to prevent memories from surfacing while Ash was concious. The whole story, as it was pieced together by journalists who had sources from all over Kanto and Johto alike, told of a genetically enigneered Pokemon that had a heart of pure evil. Considering the stories were very incoherent, and Mewtwo had done much worse than what was believed, the mutant supposed he had gotten off easy.

To be blunt, Mewtwo had literally killed Ash Ketchum. All of Ash Ketchum had been petrified, including his brain and heart. Ash, for all intents and purposes, had been rendered non-organic. Mewtwo brought the trainer out of the stone and reconstructed the critical parts of his body. He'd encouraged Ash's near-zilch of brain activity and Ketchum had worked his way back to life. A lot of things- like this- weren't told in the presses.

Still, Mewtwo had a heart; otherwise Ketchum would be long dead. Many didn't believe Ketchum's story about Mewtwo because no one could back it up. This worked to Mewtwo's advantage. Since an accurate picture of Mewtwo had never been produced, Mewtwo supposed that no one would ever recognize Mewtwo for what he was. That was, assuming Mewtwo ever encountered another human being again. If Mewtwo were- in the worst of events- ever to be discovered on a large scale, he had the telepathic ability to wipe the minds of every living being on planet Earth. Indeed, Mewtwo wished to keep his existence secret, but now he had to reveal himself to another trainer in order to save the humanity which he himself had once wished to destroy. If he failed to leave this bubble by that time, it would be too late!

Hiakiu watched events unfold through a temporal viewer. He spat at the image of Malevolent that he had been monitoring for quite a while now. "Why don't you escape?! You idiot! Have you no intelligence?! You are feeble and weak minded if you can't even escape out of what is virtually a paper bag of your own creation!"

As Hiakiu huffed and puffed, he considered rendering assistance to Malevolent. He rebuked himself with, "No, I'm not here to help that dorkus take over the world. I'm here to ensure that Chris Brockner dies in the present to destroy his future!"

Hiakiu switched to a view of Brockner, who was innocently observing the Pokemon League games. Hiakiu snorted at the image. "Enjoy your pathetic life while it lasts, Mr. Brockner! Soon, it will all be over!!!"

So...Chris knows he's a fictional character...? He knows he's living in an anime? That...doesn't scan well...this isn't "Truman Show", after all

...although dude, that would rock...with Ash being the only one who doesn't know...that would be...

THAT would be another hopping plot bunny! But I shan't go there!

That is a great idea! :) Though, every once in a while, one of my characters will give a big "wink" to the audience and say, "Hey, you know, this is a surreal world we're living in. We aren't really here; we're just pages in a book." Some people hate that, but I love doing that.

Anyway, today's two chapters are quite interesting little compositions. Some off-references to the games, and some pretty nifty dialogue between Chris and Mewtwo. Enjoy!

Chapter 8 : THE SEARCH FOR MEWTWO

One month later...

Chris had seen the League games through to the end. Later, he met with Ash Ketchum- who had placed in the teens. Chris gave his congratulations. He assured Ash that the Fall games were significantly more difficult in its tournament nature and that it wasn't anything to be ashamed of that Ash didn't place first.

Of course - Chris realized- that the summer games probably were more difficult, after all. League games followed a pattern. The winter and summer games followed a more one on one approach. Each contestant battled the Elite Four as an entry exam to determine their worthiness. It took a long time to train Pokemon to beat the Four. Only forty-five percent beat the Elite Four and reigning Champion on an average. The few who did make it faced each other in tournament battles on two fields of battle. The final champions faced off in what was now called a blind battle. The two champions would not meet; all they would know was the Pokemon line-up of one another. From there, it was pure skill against unknown strategy.

The fall games had a more complex structure of four battlefields and four champions a field where all the champions battled until two were eliminated and two were left. In the end the two remaining contestants fought until a winner was determined. Not too much more complicated, except that mostly all the fall trainers had to worry about was adaptating to environment variables. Rules were more strictly enforced to ensure that the matches were finished quickly. On some counts, this was fair- on others it was downright unfair! For example, if one's Pokemon fell asleep in the fall games, it was an instant loss for the trainer of that Pokemon. In the summer games, the trainer would either give the Pokemon a stimulant to wake it up- and risk his neck in the balance. Or the trainer could watch his Pokemon get pounced even further until it woke up. Or- if one was not prone to humiliation- they could throw in the towel and quit! And, as Chris knew- forutnately not first hand- losses in the summer games were not met with in a positive light by the trainer in question and his opponent would not reinforce it as such. Only the champions were afforded a decent amount of respect if either one lost the final round. In essence, mostly kids competed in the fall games and it was a positive learning experience. In the summer games, it was a grungy battle to the finish. The losers- depending on their stature in the tournament- usually ended up coming back to try and redeem themselves in the fall or spring matches. They were not met with much criticism since the summer games they had likely lost in weren't heavy on media coverage or recognition. They had a clean slate and were considered "winners" no matter what place they finished.

Although Chris had enjoyed the games- and since he was a former competitor he got in for free- he realized it was time to leave. Chris had mentioned none of this to Ash, but Chris suspected that Ash already knew that there was a "mystery Pokemon" in Johto. Rumors had been flying about such. Ash had in fact mentioned these rumors in a conversation they had had a month ago.

Ash spoke of an interview he had done for a press release. The article was about a creature known only as Mewtwo. Ash reported having repressed memories about the creature, saying he had had a dream about a genetic mutant monster created by mad scientists. Considering all the info Chris had recieved along his journey, it wasn't too far a leap of logic to assume that Mewtwo was the same Pokemon that Oak had told Chris about just shy of a year before! Chris again got that feeling that the winds of destiny were blowing his way...

The field was open with a bang! Unfortunately, Mewtwo wasn't back in his hollowed-out haven known as Paradise Canyon. He was out just in time- three hundred years- but Mewtwo was somewhere in the Orange Islands. He immediately took off towards Ecruteak City. He almost headed for Cerulean City where he'd spent a short time with Mew and his clones in a section they'd referred to as the "Unknown Dungeon."

If he could have gotten to the canyon in time, he would have been able to warn his past counterpart. By the time he got to Mount Cana, though, the present-time Mewtwo, Mew, and clone Pokemon were out searching for food. They were probably in the Orange Islands- where he had just come from. The Orange Islands were also the best place to find good citrus fruit. Mewtwo and his Pokemon had recently- although recently was a relative term- acquired a taste for citrus. Mewtwo was about to go back when he detected a presence...

Next Chapter : MEWTWO RETURNS, HOPE IS FOUND

This chapter explains a biggada question : What happened to 'Dex numbers in the anime. Well, the answer is that they were done a little differently than they were in the game. So, that would explain why Oak never bats an eye at some of the more rare Pokemon Ash tells him he sees. Some of the more elusive Pokemon, the story states, were listed but not numbered. This fits, because in the anime none of the Pokemon were given numbers in the Pokedex to begin with.

So, happy reading!

Oh, and did I mention that this is the chapter where Chris meets Mewtwo? ^^;

Chapter 9 : MEWTWO IS FOUND, HOPE RETURNS

The Golbat were everywhere! Vulpix, apparently scarred by his experience from when he was a pup- or whatever baby foxes were called- jumped into Chris's arms. Chris patted Vulpix on the head, and then reached into his backpack and pulled out Raichu's Pokeball. It whizzed through the air, rattled to the ground, and then opened. Chris ordered Raichu to use Flash and the cave lit up like a guy on the roof touching a metal pole during a lightning storm. Chris continued onward in the new and ominously cold glow. There were rock Pokemon hiding around every corner. Raichu's glowing cheeks were an invitation for all of them. They had to lay low so that the rock Pokemon would think that Raichu was wild- but the minute he started checking out a wild female Raichu, Vulpix blew a little fire in his direction.

Unfortunately Vulpix revealed their location, and now the gang was followed by Machokes, Gravelers, and Rhydons. Chris was about to send out Blastoise and Foodin, his Alakazam, but a Machoke knocked him hard against a wall. This didn't look good.

A flash brighter than anything Raichu had mustered blinded Chris for a matter of seconds. The Machoke was one-hit KOed. The creature that had appeared in front of Chris was massive. It's eyes glowed fluorescent green and then turned red. It was a six foot tall mutant. It had jagged ears, a long white tail, a purple belly, and might be called "King of the Psychic Pokemon." It had an outstanding handle on its powers. It must have been trained by someone else beforehand.

Then, Chris made the connection. This was that armored Pokemon that he had encountered at Viridian Gym! What was that Pokemon doing in Johto? It had escaped, but wasn't Johto a little far out to travel?

Chris saw that a few tiles and some statues wasn't all Mewtwo was good at breaking. Rhydons donned bruises, Machokes were choked, and Gravelers graveled. All ran off in terror. It was all over before it even started.

"You should be more careful! This canyon is hazardous." the creature said; but it did not actually speak. Telepathy! No Pokemon had this kind of ability, except maybe Lapras or perhaps the occasional Alakazam- who spent more time concentrating on their own thoughts to speak often. It was unlikely that this Pokemon had been born naturally, though, since it had such a secure hold on the English language. Chris remembered that this Pokemon had said a few sappy words back in Viridian.

"Who are you?" Chris asked firmly. Vulpix bleated out the same question in his own dialect. Chris went further than that, "I came looking for a strange Pokemon and--"

"You are in the wrong cave!" the psychic Pokemon informed him. "This is a part of the rockface where wild Pokemon are. My clones and I are in a different section of the canyon. As a matter of fact, we do not even live in the caves like common neaderthals! We live on an island at the center of Mount Cana!"

"You still haven't told me who you are," Chris pushed. "But I think I'm starting to get an idea. Have you ever heard of the Mewtwo cloning project?"

Mewtwo's horn-like ears perked, and asked in a very no-nonsense tone, "Where did you hear about that?"

"I was often engaged in battle with Team Rocket!" Chris stated. "So, tell me, where is Giovanni hiding! I don't believe that Ash Ketchum horse crap that you just went independent and--"

Chris was forced up against the wall by Mewtwo. Instead of taking the easy way and using telkinesis, he used his more than ample muscles. Chris was mildly intimidated when Mewtwo snarled, "Do not mention that name in my presence, human!"

Chris was very daring. "What, don't like Ash Ketchum? Afraid of things and people that could bring about your demise?"

"Oh, I am not talking about Ash Ketchum," Mewtwo told. "And further more, there is something out there that will bring about demise quickly and effeicently!"

"What are you talking about?" Chris demanded.

Mewtwo laughed. "Let us not continue playing dumb. I remember you from the gym! I know you remember me! I am psychic you know! I also know you were not fooled by the little performance Giovanni and I gave you. You are correct in that he only wanted you out of his hair; and granted he was not the best individual to act to. I thought that my performance was worthy of a standing ovation."

"Let's not flatter ourselves," Chris hissed. "Now, why are you here? Does it have something to do with Team Rocket HQ?"

Mewtwo explained, "I left Team Rocket. They treated me like an object there. I do live alone now. If you have spoken with Ash Ketchum about me- and I know you have- you should know what he said is true. I live somewhere remote with clones I made of Pokemon trained by some of the best trainers alive! This place is very remote! You make the connection."

"All Ash told me was that he has a gap in his memory," Chris told. "He said he remembers either being disected by aliens or meeting a mutant Pokemon created by Team Rocket. Now you can make the connection, Mr. Psychic-Know-It-All!"

Mewtwo scoffed. "In any case, I have been watching you since you left Viridian. Now, the world is in great danger. Only you and I- together- can stop the villain at work in this situation. If we do not join our powers, your race will be enslaved, beaten, tortured, killed," Mewtwo warned ominously.

Chris snorted. "Sounds like a corny comic book hero's plea for help in making a better Gotham for us to live in! I guess the Batman just can't do it without me, eh?" Chris declared.

Mewtwo let Chris slide down the rockfaced wall. "Oh, I assure you, this is no comic book fantasy. You are indeed correct about my identity. I am called Mewtwo. Although I have often thought about loosing myself from a name given to me by human slave drivers and calling myself 'Jim Bob.'"

Chris watched Mewtwo break into raucous laughter. Chris just sat there snarling, thinking nothing this monster could say would be funny- even if it was. He growled, "Who is the slave driver here?"

Mewtwo stopped lauging and tossed a sideways glance Chris's way. Mewtwo defended, "You misjudge me. I was enslaved by Giovanni, as you were."

"Huh?" Chris was very confused by Mewtwo's last statement.

Mewtwo went on to explain, "You are slave to Giovanni. If he is your enemy, then he has likely enslaved you with the same hatred that he himself bears in his heart. Is that not how humanity works? They enslave each other in hatred? You have great wars to show that one can hate more than the other!"

"You have a thing or two to learn about humanity," Chris stated, getting up and brushing himself off. "Some of us are as you describe, but otherwise, we're peaceful and we care about each other. We have wars to defend what's right!"

Mewtwo raised an eyelid. "How do you know what is right?"

Chris thought about that for second. Then he answered, "Whichever side of a war has ideals that would better help humanity, that would stop violence and suffering, that's the side that's right."

Mewtwo's mouth gaped open. It stayed that way, even when he was speaking since he actually used telepathy. "Impossible! You are the same humans that created me in a lab. You are the ones who wanted to create the world's strongest Pokemon so you could dominate other living beings. I cannot believe that most of you are as considerate as you say!"

"What, do you think that I'd lie?" Chris asked calmly.

"Yes," Mewtwo lifted his hands and they began to shine with luminescence. A darkened sphere, crackling with telekinetic energy, was growing above Mewtwo stubby digits. "If you lie, then I will destroy you!"

Chris scoffed, "You don't scare me. You're just a poor fool who still hasn't been able to escape Giovanni. If you believe that humanity is as bad as you say, then you're probably going to destroy it! You're the evil, Mewtwo! They fed you false information and you're so stupid that you fell for it! You're weak, you tin-headed mutant scum! Go ahead, kill me! There are others more capable than I am of defeating you! If you do kill me, though, you're a coward who doesn't want to hear the truth."

Mewtwo took on a shocked visage. His glowing hands went dim once more. The darkened energy sphere dissipated into the air. He was virtually slumping. "Fool! How can you not fear for your life! Are you crazy?"

"I'm not crazy," Chris said. "I'm just insane! You need to be insane in this world. Often, the right thing to do isn't quite considered the most comfortable or 'normal' way of doing so. People die every day for something they believe in. I believe that you're a souless monster!"

Mewtwo straightened. "Then, I say again, you misjudge me!"

Chris was the one who was taken by awe this time. "Huh?"

"I admit that I was mistaken about humanity," Mewtwo confessed. "If they are anything like you, then perhaps we do have a chance to stop Malevolent after all."

"I don't understand," Chris stated flat out. "Who's this Malevolent character you can't seem to stop yapping your trap about."

"Malevolent is a member of the Celebi species," Mewtwo said. "If that rings a bell, do not bother to tell me where you heard about the Celebi. Everyone knows of them, and some even believe that they exist."

"They do," Chris furthered. "Professor Oak encountered them as a child. They were one of the first to make it into the Pokedex in the original 150 grouping. The Celebi were one of the few legendary Pokemon to make it into that category. Zapdos, Articuno, Aerodactyl- people claimed to have seen them before but there wasn't enough evidence to be sure!"

"Yes, and if I understand your ridiculous human groupings, they did not include Pokemon like Clefable, Gengar, or Farfetch'd to your Pokedex!" Mewtwo taunted. "Everyone knows about these Pokemon! I can even understand not grouping in Kabuto, Kabutops, Omanyte or Omastar. Just do not be ridiculous and neglect to include Diglet or Dugtrio! How about Sandshrew and Sandslash?"

Chris defended humanity, "They were included, but only a few Pokemon were given index numbers! Out of about two-hundred eighty some-odd Pokemon we've identified, only one hundred fifty were given numbers. In some areas, there just wasn't enough information to give all of those Pokemon numbers without giving descriptions that were vague and erratic!"

"I see," Mewtwo gloated. "In other words, you humans would rather be more thorough than complete?"

Chris folded his arms and lowered his head. "Don't the two go hand in hand? I mean, now we've given numeral IDs to about two-hundred twenty Pokemon. The information we've got on them now is extensive!"

Mewtwo snorted, accepting defeat. "Whatever you humans have to tell yourselves to sleep at night!"

Chris laughed. "I think losing sleep over some missing Pokemon ID numbers would be a little extreme!"

Mewtwo simply carried on and ignored Chris's brief outburst, "Humans and Pokemon share a symbiosis. If you do not respect that symbiosis and help me, then your species will cease to give Pokemon numbers. You will become numbers yourselves."

"Okay, okay! I'll help you!" Chris waved off any further lecture. "Tell me more about this great threat!"

Mewtwo immediately snapped back with an answer, "At first, all I had to go on was a jumble of thoughts and stray neurons. Now, I have managed to piece together images of what Malevolent is planning. It seemes he has quite an imagination. Perhaps we could join minds and I could show you first-hand."

"Let's see! I'll be letting a mutant clone into my brain," Chris considered the subject aloud. "Cool! Let's do it!" With this, Mewtwo hovered across the cave to Chris and placed his hands at the boy's temples. They felt almost leather with their three stubby digits. The visions began painfully and without warning!

Mewtwo grew himself a sense of humor? Will wonders never cease? *g*

But wait a moment...WHY did he just give Chris the LOCATION OF THE CLONES about a minute after meeting him? Isn't that compromising their security?

I know, it isn't truly realistic that Mewtwo would be so mirthful, but it can just get down-and-out hilarious sometimes! :)

But wait a moment...WHY did he just give Chris the LOCATION OF THE CLONES about a minute after meeting him? Isn't that compromising their security?

Part of this is because that most of this story is the original writing from the first BulbaGarden. My writing was awful back then.

The other half has to do with the fact that Mewtwo has had plenty of time in his temporal bubble to decide what to do about Chris Brockner. Also, if you remember reading the interlude to this story on a separate thread, you'll remember that Mewtwo and Chris did meet before. Mewtwo knows that Chris is an enemy of Giovanni, so might be a little more loose with such information. (Especially after Chris has braved the rigors of Mount Cana, anyway.)

Chapter 10 : PLAN TO SAVE THE WORLD

Chris was shocked at what he saw through Mewtwo's mind. The images were like classic B-movie serials, but with a real twist that brought surreal terror. Malevolent was no ordinary Pokemon. His heart was obviously dark and murky. He had all the intelligence of Einstein and the bloodthirst of Jack the Ripper.

Chris stuttered, "Tha-- Th-- How could any being be that filled with hate for something? How--"

"Does this mean that you and your fire fox will give me aid?" Mewtwo inquired.

"Me, my fire fox, my menacing water-turtle, and my golden rodent with the power lines in his cheeks," Chris replied. "How do you plan to fight this creep? How can I be of any help?"

"You can be plenty of help. We simply use trial and error. First we 'try-all' and then we 'error,'" Mewtwo responded. He wore a self-satisfied grin.

Chris chuckled. "Unfortunately, I think we'll only have time for one try. We'll have to make it count. Now, feed me more of what you know."

Mewtwo shook his head. He knew he had found the right one. Perhaps all was not lost. Mewtwo brought Chris to the island at the center of Paradise Canyon.

After Mewtwo had shown Chris everything he knew about the situation, they started to plan. For this, Mewtwo brought Chris to a large command center at the center of the island. There was one large stone slab chair there that was raised and stood a few feet away from a viewscreen. Mewtwo sat in the chair and drew up some data on the screen. As Mewtwo and Chris reviewed the data, they slowly formed the plan they were looking for.

When Mewtwo sensed his counterpart from this time and his original, Mew, bringing his clones back from lunch, Mewtwo transported Chris and himself to another cave somewhere in Mount Moon. They worked out the rest of the plan there without a chair or a screen. By the time everything was planned, it was almost time to get the plan underway- but not on an empty stomach!

Mewtwo made dinner- a simple salad. Mewtwo made all the ingredients himself. (The salad was a darn good one, too, might I add.) Mewtwo explained, "In the wild you must make do with what you have with you. In my domain leafy green plants abound and fruit is plentiful. This human delicacy known as 'tossed salad' has always been a favorite staple of my clone Pokemon."

After that... The time was at hand for Malevolent to arrive on the scene. Mewtwo said he was surprised to find that Malevolent was just now starting to break free from anti-time. Still, the duo was ready to begin Mewtwo and Chris's counterstrike!

===

Malevolent was finally able to break the temporal stasis bubble that Mewtwo had sealed it in. Malevolent's eyes were glowing red, while his thoughts were pitch black! Malevolent had followed rises to power since the dawn of humanity- but had never seen a creature as powerful as Mewtwo! Mewtwo had not been signifigantly potent when Malevolent had finished with him. Still, Mewtwo had been strong enough to trap Malevolent in a bubble as hard to break as one created at a psy monster's full power- if not more so- even at a quarter of that power.

Malevolent feared that its plans to kill off Mewtwo would cut infinitely short. When it searched for Mewtwo, it became frightened as it was certain that it had found two matching neural signatures!

Malevolent buzzed off like an angry hornet in the direction of the power source that was Mewtwo. Malevolent would find a way to win, even if it meant losing its mind- or losing its soul! It wasn't long before Malevolent had reached Mount Cana. Malevolent dived toward the island at the center of Paradise Canyon. It felt itself bump into the mind of its old rival! The collision of psychic power had occured with none other than Mew!

===

Mew sensed it first. A tremor shook the lush forrest like an earthquake, but Mew knew that the tremor had not been caused by the shifting of tectonic plates deep inside the planet. Mew sent information to Mewtwo informing the clone that company had arrived. Mewtwo awoke immediately and tried in vain calling out to his protoges, Pikachu and Meowth.

Mewtwo tried shooting upward, but couldn't. Something was going on- and Mewtwo felt that he couldn't interfere. Another presence had come into play. Mewtwo was suddenly hit with a strange recognition. It seemed that the incapacitating presence he detected was himself!

Next Chapter : THE BATTLE FOR EARTH BEGINS

So, do you all likey so far? If you don't like this one- and I can understand why some wouldn't- you'll probably like the second story better. I'm working on story 4 right now, and I keep realizing, "God, nothing will ever top story 2!" That's funny, because the second story really used to stink. That is, before I totally redesigned it and made it nothing like the original story 2.

Well, anywho, here's the next chapter. This is starting to get to the good parts.

Oh, and I keep on talking about how I'm too lazy to format. All the new stories- that is 4 and up- will be written with forum formatting ahead of time. (Italics, bolds, etc, are being done as the stories are written.)

As to my guide to JTC's history, I've sort of dropped that idea. I know you guys wanted one, but the stories themselves will have "built-in" guides. I am putting as much detail as possible into each new story I write. However, don't be surprised if you see the guide pop up anyway. :) I'm just warning you in case I don't have time to write the guide from my newly-polished notes. I can type really fast- which is how I manage these long rants of mine- but even I can only type so much before my fingers hurt. My notes are all in a notebook, and it would take a loooong time before I could transfer them digitally with hand and keyboard. (And I'm not trusting my scanner's OCR, either.)

So, anyway, here's today's chapter. This one introduces Hiakiu to our main cast. Sort of an interesting read.

Enjoy! :)

Chapter 11 : THE BATTLE FOR EARTH BEGINS

"It will be mine!" Malevolent literally thought aloud. "It will be clock work to take the world once Mewtwo is gone."

"Do you think you can get rid of me that easily?" Mewtwo's voice came. Malevolent was hit with a mixed wave of dizziness and nausea. It was not a reaction from his body; but instead it was Mewtwo's Confusion attack. Malevolent's brain tried to jump back from the extreme disorientation, but his guard was down! He was now vulnerable! That would not do.

It was plain to Malevolent that Mewtwo had recently concentrated a great deal of energy on some task from what Malevolent could gather from Mewtwo's brain patterns. This was the Mewtwo from the timeline previous to this one! This was the Mewtwo that had locked Malevolent away in a time bubble!

Malevolent lusted for revenge! Even though Mewtwo had regenerated somewhat, it didn't take much for Malevolent to disorganize the mutant's neural patterns further!

In a wave of raw-hate filled energy, Mewtwo was thrown hard against the cave walls and beaten to a fleshy pulp by wave after wave of Malevolent's psychokinetic blows. Blood oozed uncontrollably from Mewtwo's tail. His head had cuts that would probably require dermal adhesives on a human. Mewtwo had known Pokemon battles, but this was no friendly competition. This ugly bloodbath was a deathmatch. Malevolent didn't want to defeat Mewtwo, he wanted to kill him!

Who would win this fight? Mewtwo tried hard to escape the beating he was getting, but his body was totally stiff! If only someone would come and help him! Who would come and rescue him when he could not even rescue himself?

"All right Scumball-bi, I'm going to kick your @$$!" came the all too familiar voice.

Was that an answer?

===

Chris braced himself for Charizard's quick spin and Flamethrower attack. He felt some of the hot embers singe the ends of his fingers as Charizard blew fire at the culprit of Mewtwo's demise. Malevolent had no time to respond. The attack had caught him completely off guard. Malevolent felt the full force of the attack. He screamed in horror as the flames engulfed his grassy body. These weren't petty warning flames. These flames were heavy duty. They were the kind of flames Charizards had been known to total entire forests with!

Malevolent panicked, but quickly put out the flames with his mind. Though with Mewtwo's attack and Chris's sudden fireworks, Malevolent couldn't say that he felt any better for the wear. The end was coming for Malevolent. He knew now that he wasn't invincible. All thanks to a mutant and a damn human's dragon. Life sucked!

===

Could it be that Chris cared about Mewtwo? The plan they had devolped was for Chris to not interfere until the "inprobability" that Mewtwo was dead. After all, there was another Mewtwo around here somewhere who would have picked up where this Mewtwo had left off. Chris was putting himself in clear and present danger at Mewtwo's behest. Now he deviated from the plan for... For what? To save his new friend. This was the biggest revelation about human feelings to the mutant since Ash Ketchum. What was this thing called love? It must be what made Chris deviate from the plans, putting himself in more danger. This was fascinating. Mewtwo had never been loved by anyone but his clones and perhaps Mew. How could he accept the kindness of this... This... Human?!

Though what Mewtwo was feeling wasn't totally in the present. Malevolent was exuding too much power, and it was tearing the space-time continuum to pieces. If something was not done quickly then past, present, and future would collide. Rather, Mewtwo thought, Malevolent was wrapping up all of time into a compressed package- and it seemed likely that he was doing this on purpose for some reason. If this continued, when temporal entities were brought into a singular point in the temporal spectrum, it would case an implosion and subsequent explosion of time. The universe and all universes parallel would be destroyed!

===

Chris knew Charizard would not be enough to fight Malevolent. Although he had quite an advantage, Malevolent was ancient Chris did not want to begin to wonder what level he was at. Vulpix tugged at Chris's jeans. This plainly meant Vulpix wanted a piece of the action, but Chris knew that Vulpix wouldn't be able to hack it alone. Chris ordered Charizard in on a steep vector that brought them right on the ground in a bellyflop fashion. Vulpix jumped off Charizard's back in understanding and Chris sent Chikorita's Pokeball hurtling through the air. It opened with a whoosh, materialized Chikorita, and boomeranged back to Chris. Vulpix opened up with a Flamethrower while Chikorita needed orders on his attack.

"Chikorita," Chris began. "Bodyslam!"

Chikorita bounded through the tall grass and came down like a pro wrestler on the low floating Malevolent. Even though Chikorita was small, it was still just large enough to make a dent in Malevolent's armor. Chikorita rolled off just in time for the crushed Malevolent to be hit with Vulpix's incinerating Flamethrower. The combo left Malevolent motionless. He laid there and twitched. Chris had an idea to finish it off. He threw Foodin, his Alakzam's, Pokeball to land squarely next to Malevolent.

"Foodin! Give it your most confusing Confusion!" Chris commanded.

"Kazam!" Foodin muttered and nodded his head in acknowledgement. Malevolent was hauled in Mewtwo's direction and Mewtwo hit a rather impressive homerun on Malevolent with his massive mutant tail.

At that moment, Chris heard the ungodly wail eminating from Malevolent. The moan echoed, "I have failed, my dark prince! Help me, Hiakiu!"

Chris's stomach sank at the name. For a moment, he had worn a smile in anticipation of Malevolent's defeat. However, he rolled around in his mind the name that the evil Celebi had just uttered- pleaded with for help! Chris's smile quickly faded. Hiakiu was now entering the picture! Professor Oak had been right!
