With all the discourse happening recently around the game (and Nintendo at large), I thought it could be nice to have a thread where we can just get excited for the game without having to think of the stressful or disappointing parts!

What are you all most excited for regarding the game? Personally, I'm beyond thrilled about character customization coming back in a big way! I pre-ordered the game at a retailer which gives the Trench Coat outfit, not even because I particularly want to wear it, but just because I wanna make sure I can have as many options to look as pretty as I can. :3
Beyond that, I think they're knocking it out with the Mega Evolutions so far! Victreebel, Malamar and Delphox are all among my favorite megas of all time now. ^^

The big thing for me is the return to Lumiose and the events of XY! I consider Gen 6 my clear favorite, so seeing a sequel of sorts following it all up is so personally cool to see, especially when it already needed a revist. I'm excited to once again stroll through Lumiose, see old characters again have the chance to catch Kalos Pokemon again, hear possible remixes of XY themes. It's all gonna be right in the Gen 6-er sweet spot of my brain.

Also, agreed that the character customization is looking fantastic. Not only is SV's extended facial customization coming back, we seem to be back to very broad clothing customization of prior games in a best of both worlds scenario! I'm so excited for the return of skirt and dresses, the addition of two toned hair and earings, they even have my precious berets! I feel like I'll be spending a good amount of time just customizing my character and fashioning up!
 
ngl i was already pretty excited about the concept of the game taking place in a city as opposed to the entire region. i'm really looking forward to jumping around buildings and digging into the urban exploration parts of the game. c:

Agreed! People have been worried about it but I think this is a great opportunity to try something fresh and unique for the franchise.
 
I'm SO EXCITED for the character customization!!!!!! I always thought multiple hair colours and earrings would be cool,someday~ I didn't expect to get both of them!!!! So soon!!!!! And the battles look absolutely amazing, I'm sooo excited to try itttt I hope it runs okay on my Lite.... and.
AUDINO. MY FAVOURITE POKÉMON I HAVEN'T EVER GOTTEN ONE BEFORE AND NOT ONLY DO I GET IT I CAN MEGA EVOLVE IT. yea im very happy (thanks for this thread btw im always happy to see more positivity :3)
 
i still cannot believe it's a proper sequel. i've wanted to see a pokemon game like this for aaages, giving an old region and its characters a brand new take and story, and kalos easily deserved it the most. also emma is one of my favorite pokemon characters so her coming back is a solid 50% of my hype. having her go from a niche postgame-exclusive character most people don't even know about to a main character on the literal boxart feels like winning the lottery

oh and also i adore fashion in games so the focus on character customization makes me so excited. especially the complete and total lack of a gender lock! that's so rare to see, even in my favorite dress-up games, so i'm unbelievably happy. i can't wait to be broke for the entire main story because i'm spending all my money on cute new outfits, just like the original XY. god bless!

oh and also also mega audino is one of the greatest pokemon designs of all time so i'm glad it's usable again. that's the real upside of megas being back, really.
 
Kind of ironic to say now when everyone is hyped for the customization, but I love the default main character designs. After the game was announced, I would pull up their artwork and just happily stare at it. Harmony broke the "only boys get cool jackets" rule and the "girls have short shorts/short skirt by default" rule AND she has a fedora (my avatar probably gives some indication of how I feel about fedoras, haha). She's my favorite female MC to date in terms of design, followed by Akari (Legends games just do it for me in terms of female MC designs, I guess, haha.) Paxton looks really good as well, in a super cool character artwork pose! I'm excited to develop headcanons and personal takes on them as I see how the story unfolds.

Pricing controversy aside, I'm actually really interested to see what the DLC will involve. The chance for more megas Flygon is exciting, and the idea of exploring a twisted alternate Lumiose has me intrigued.
 
About a week until release! I am so ready to play - gonna go to the midnight release and I took a few days off work afterwards to play :bulbaLove:
I am choosing chikorita as my starter. I think I will have a hawlucha on my team, and I would also love to use a furfrou, I wonder if they will get new haircut styles?

I'm also super excited! I set up a server for my friends to talk in while avoiding spoilers, and I finally started on my ZA journal a little ahead of time. I just have the first page done for now:

On my christmas wishlist this year in addition a swich 2 i am most hyped for the customization and the megas as well as the dlc

SAME. It's honestly laughable how cartoonishly in the target audience I am for this game, I LOVE XY and the fact that it's getting an honest-to-god sequel is still so crazy to me, I just can't believe this is a real game I will get to play. I saw miss Mable of Team Flare get revealed as the new professor and lost my damn mind. I love these anime French people so much
 
I’m so excited! I’m getting the midnight release. I’ll be playing the digital copy. Most of my gaming time will likely still be dedicated to Mario Kart World, but I’m excited for this.

Totodile being a starter definitely helps!
 
Yeaaah, I cannot wait! And the reviews and impressions seem promising too!

Gonna have basically the entire weekend off as well, so I'll be playing playing playing.

One more sleep technically... Will probably dabble with an hour or 2 at midnight, then go wild that next morning (Gonna be the Switch 2 launch all over again)

Man, it feels sooo good knowing we're going back to gen 6
 
Just so happy to see Kalos getting love and seeing returning characters from XY. Kalos is my favorite region, XY still some of my favorite games for the memories they gave me. I remember being SO upset that they skipped Z all those years ago, but getting an actual 100% brand new game and story on the Switch more than makes up for it. Wish I could tell my high school self

I was never one of those huge "bring back Mega Evolution!" people but it really is great to have it back along with the excitement of getting new ones after all these years

Trainer customizstion looks the best it ever has, so good to see some of the dresses and skirts and stuff back. Kalos still has the best outfits of any region imo

Also the Chikorita love makes me happy, it's finally my poor baby's time to shine

Also my first real Pokemon playthrough on the Switch 2 since I unfortunately never got around to replaying Scarlet with the new update. I have it preloaded and ready to go midnight so just a little over 24 hours to go
