This thread is essentially a wish list of things you'd like to see in the game, and spread discussion on how those things additions will help/benefit/make the game a better experience. In hind-sight these can also change every so often if new information is released.

Anyways to start these are my minor wish list things:
1. The moves Iron Tail, Hone Claws, Dig, Dragon Pulse, and Power-Up Punch be brought back as TM's, and the moves Liquidation, any attacking Fairy type moves, and the Elemental Punches TM's.
-The reason is obvious, as Egg Moves are gone since breeding is axed in these games, and we don't know if Move Tutors return in these games or not.
2. Bring back the Bike and Roller Blades
-The bike was a major item in the first 6 gens, but were dropped in Gen 7, and imo was a big loss though we got ride Pokemon. Also while slippery, roller blades were also nice, and could be improved in these games.
3. Z-Moves & Mega Evolution
-I'm pretty sure that by now, many people, both casual and hard core, may watch the anime or see pictures of both online. So even if hold items are removed, they could add a way to add in these 2 things, especially seeing a handful of Kanto Pokemon have exclusive Z-Moves and Mega Evolutions.
4. Ice Stone
-Alolan Sandshrew and Vulpix would probably be stuck like that without them in LGP & LGE.

I could see z moves or mega evolution being on there. z moves being present wouldnt be out of place considering the aloan forms will be present plus it was Lilly who went to Kanto at the end of Sun/Moon so I am sure she would have talked about these things (shown them?) to the Kanto peeps.
I'd rather have mega evolution though. I am just not a fan of z moves.
I think the only thing i am actually really hoping for these games, is that the starter pokemon have a little leniency on moves since they cannot evolve. (thinking mostly about eevee here as it is a normal type and because of its possible evolutions are often blocked from learning alot of moves)
I think I am more curious about this game than having expectations because of how different it is suppose to be and it being announced that is an introductory game.
I do look forward to the co-op and is the main reason why I am getting these games. I do hope for some player customization. :)

This is before Lillie's time and most likely takes place in a different universe. The story is largely the same and there is no reason why history would repeat itself in a sequel.

I hope for an Amie-like feature with lots of mini games.

Megas and Z-Moves are most probably not in the game, I think since they’re fairly 'complex'.
