The next producer letter is slated for late June, and will include information about new Sync Pairs and events coming to the game in July.
Update Summary
The full changelog from the Version 2.69.0 update can be read here, while the monthly developer letter can be found here. Below, we've summarized the most notable changes with this update that directly impact the gameplay experience.
Akari Arrives at the Trainer Lodge
From May 31st at 11:00 pm (PDT), players who have teamed up with Akari & Samurott will be able to invite Akari to the Trainer Lodge. This sync pair will be available through a Monthly Poké Fair Scout beginning on that same date.
New Status Change and Move Uodates
A new status change, Endure and Restore, has been added to the game. This status change functions similarly to Enduring, however with some important differences:
- When a Pokémon under Endure and Restore takes damage that would otherwise reduce its HP to 0, it fully restores HP instead of fainting
- The effect can activate when a Pokémon is hit by Sync Moves
- This status change is mutually exclusive with Enduring, and cannot be applied at the same time.
- G-Max Rapid Flow
- G-Max Drum Solo
- G-Max Fireball
- Dawn Lunar Eclipse Moongeist Beam
- Dusk Solar Eclipse Sunsteel Strike
From May 31st at 11:00 pm (PDT), a new season will begin in the Trainer Gym. This season will run through to June 24th, at 10:59pm (PDT).
Issue Compensation
All players who logged into the game between May 20th at 11:00pm (PDT) and May 26th at 9:59pm (PDT) will be receiving non-paid Gems ×300 as compensation for a frankly minor and insignificant issue where Perrin was displayed wearing the collar of an incorrect outfit in several ongoing scout banners. These Gems can be claimed at any point until June 26th, at 9:59pm (PDT).
New Neo Champions from Johto debut alongside a brand new Neo Champions Event
Two new Neo Champion Sync Pairs will be added to the game over the next few days, alongside a brand new Story Event, Neo Champions: Rising Thunder and Flames, commencing May 30th at 11:00pm (PDT). The Master Fair-exclusive Sync Pair Sygna Suit Kris & Suicune will also be returning alongside this event.
Ethan (Champion) & Raikou are the first sync pair to receive a move able to apply the new Endure and Restore effect, with their Max Revive Trainer Move applying it to any one ally. As seems almost traditional for Master Electric-Type Support Role Pairs at this point, they also possess some truly broken Passive Skills, able to apply Johto Circle (Physical) and (Special) to the field of play when they enter a battle, and the first time they use their Sync Move each battle. They also raise the Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk, and Sp. Def by all allies by two stat ranks whenever they successfully attack an opponent. To top it off, their Reigning Thunder Fang Buddy Move (activated after a circle is applied to the allied field of play) requires 0 move gauge, never misses, has a high base power, lowers the target's Defense by two stat ranks, leaves the target paralyzed, and has a chance (50%) of making the target flinch.
Lyra (Champion) & Entei seem designed to tough out extended battles, with moves that gain power and recover MP as their team gains a higher level of Sync Buff, as well as debuffing opponents. They start off each battle strong, with a Passive Skill that reduces the sync move countdown by three, raises their Attack by six stat ranks, and increases the user's Physical Moves ↑ Next effect by two ranks. Then, every time a team member uses a Sync Move, Lyra (Champion) & Entei restore 20% of their max HP, increase their Physical Moves ↑ Next effect by two ranks, and restores one MP of their Entrapping Blaze Flare Blitz buddy move. The first time Lyra (Champion) & Entei use their Sync Move each battle, they also raise their Team's Sync Buff by an additional rank. As for their Buddy Moves themselves, Reigning Sacred Fire (activated by their attack being raised) requires only 2 move gauge, and will never miss, deal greater damage the more their sync buff is raised, and debuffs the target by lowering their Attack and Defense by two stat ranks and leaving them Burned.
Sygna Suit Kris & Suicune will return in a set of Master Fair Scouts on June 3rd, including a One-Time-Only! Sygna Suit Kris Guaranteed Master Fair. While not explicitly stated in the update, it's likely that Guaranteed Scout will require Paid Gems.
With another month comes another three separate ralliesfor the Pokémon 30-Year Celebration. These rallies will commence on May 31st at 11:00pm (PDT) / June 1st at 6:00am (UTC).
Receive in-game artwork by viewing a returning Story Event
The Family Ties Story Event is returning to the game until December 31st, at 7:59pm (PST). This special run of the event for the 30-Year Celebration includes only the Story, and does not include any battle stages.
Team up with Lillie (Holiday 2024) & Primarina by completing Special Missions
This set of Special Missions will be available until June 30th, at 10:59pm (PDT). Simply logging into the game will award players with Lillie (Holiday 2024) & Primarina. All necessary items to raise them to 6★ EX and unlock their Support EX Role can then be earned by leveling them up and using them in battle over the course of the month.
