After years of development, pokemon trainers around the world finally get to realize their dream of a virtual reality pokemon Massively Multiplayer Online game. All prospective players need to do in order to join, is to lie down in the real world and attach a wire connected brain uplink to the forehead. (this device is about the size and weight of a postage stamp) The players brain and consciousness signal is then transferred to the global server where everyone can play together. However, within the first week of the game going live, something goes horribly wrong.

Poke balls fail to capture even the weakest pokemon and starter pokemon everywhere begin to act strange and running away, leaving players with no pokemon at all. The next set of problems surface when frustrated players discover that it is not possible to log out or to force quit the game. A server wide announcement is made for all players to come to Vermillion city, where system administrators will attempt to manually disconnect players on board one of the cruise ships.

The effort to escape quickly devolves into an utter catastrophe. Thousands of trainers bum rush the boat, which causes panic and a desperation fueled stampede. Hundreds die in the chaos, including most of the administrators. The surviving ones are forced to flee the scene and go into hiding. Hours later, knocked out players fail to wake up, it seems that when they died in the game world, the person died for real. With the plan for a mass evacuation in shambles, remaining players do their best just to stay alive. Wild pokemon follow their programming and attack anyone who comes near or enters tall grass. These battles which would normally be routine and quite easy, result in thousands of more deaths as careless players are eaten by pokemon over the course of a few days.

There is a rumor that an exit or some kind of fail safe trigger for the game must exist somewhere near water but no further information is available. This was supposed to be a fun social simulation of the Kanto region from Red/Blue, where did it all go wrong?

Rules:
Every now and then players are required to eat virtual food. (like Pidgey meat, berries or whatever you can find) The feature seemed like a good idea before all of the disasters started happening but now the trapped players must also worry about starving to death. Time moves much faster than in the real world so starving outside of the game is not a concern (yet) and the sun never seems to go down.

1. No godmoding
2. No sex scenes
3. No auto hitting other players
4. You may freely control wild pokemon or random people for story line and battle purposes. Pokemon have a chance to attack in tall grass, caves or dark places, automated Pokemon trainers attack when/if they spot you. (it is only necessary to defeat all of their pokemon to move on) So long as you mention pokemon that could appear in Red or Blue, you do not have to be 100% accurate with the locations unless you want to.

5. This story takes place in a recreation of Red and Blue era Kanto.
Besides surviving, the goal of this RP is to reach Vermillion city from your starting position and then to hopefully figure out a way to get out of the game. Considering the distance, the trip is expected to last somewhere between 20 and 100 posts. (or about 10 to 50 days of in game time) It is impossible to predict anything beyond that.

There are 3 starting areas to choose from: Near Bill's lighthouse, north of Cerulean city. On the beach south of Fuschia city, or right in the middle of Pallet town.
Remember, wild pokemon are everywhere and supplies are limited, just traveling in between two towns is a difficult task when you cannot call a pokemon partner for help. Other players of the MMO game are still around but some of them may have become bandits, deranged, resorted to cannibalism or some combination of all three.

To help you survive in this warped world, each character is able to choose 1 special skill.
Skills:
Hunting - Good with weapons but you pretty much need to make or find your own. (wooden club anyone?)
Gathering - Able to find food in any environment, even in the middle of the ocean! Is also able to recognize what is poisonous.
Swimming - Great for crossing bodies of water and enables the ability of diving. Allows a player to stay afloat for a very long time but not forever. Without this skill, players can only stay in the water for about a single post before they would drown.
Hide and go seek - Handy camouflage ability + increased awareness of potential enemies. This skill is not fool proof but if a character moves slowly enough (and writes good posts about staying hidden when sneaking around) it is possible to avoid most dangers.
Strength - Gains the power to carry extra supplies, push boulders and is a capable bare handed fighter.

You may choose to work together or try to go it alone.

Questions can now officially be asked

Surely, I will take a spot in this RP, but what about your character? To give an example of sorts?

I would probably be one of the last to join (if I joined as a character) but I can give some more details about areas in the sign up sheet,
Game appearance: Is really just how a character looks inside of the game. Since this is MMO game style which has lots of customization options, items from outside the poke universe are allowed. (about anything could be acceptable, come to think of it but it would still be subject to final approval) It is not necessary to describe your characters real life clothing unless you would like to. This section can be as short as a couple of sentences or longer.

History: Players who sign up will only be new arrivals to the virtual world, so no one would have much history inside of the game just yet. This is more for if you would like to explain what your character does IRL, past games that they may have played or other interesting background info about how or why they might have wanted to try this game. (before the problems sprang up) This section can be as short as one sentence or longer.

For special skill, you do not have to write out the whole thing, just the skill name will do.

This is really more of a free style RP and plot twists are very much allowed.
