What exactly is the deal with Pokemon mouths? Aside from a very small minority (Blaziken and Medicham are the only ones coming to mind), all non-Psychic and Electric special attacks seem to come out of the mouths. Do all Pokemon have built in flame-throwing, ice and water producing organs in their throats? What up with that?

Fighting-type attacks don't really come out from the Pokemon's mouth either, but yeah, I know what you mean. Also, a lot of the attacks take the form of some continous stream in the anime. I guess it's just easier to understand for little kids when it's done that way?

It might possibly be a way for pokemon to remove thier waste products(seeing as to how they dont urinate, etc.).

What about Aura Sphere? Lucario may have that attack come from its hands but when Togekiss, Dialga, Palkia (odd as that sounds) and Giratina use it it comes from there mouth.

For fire types they probably have some way of channeling heat from their bodies into their mouths where it ignites due to the oxygen somehow and is then fired. Alternatively they may have an actual fire inside them (I remember reading somewhere that Vulpix has a flame in it's heart) and that enables them to breathe fire.

And sometimes electric types do use their mouths, I know I've seen an electrike do so. In this case it's most likely similar to my first theory on fire but with heat replaced with static electricity.

There's another thread somewhere that deals with water types, the popular theory being that they have some sort of gland or organ that combines hydrogen and oxygen to produce water when they breathe in, and then they expel it through their mouths.

Psychic types do sometimes utilize their mouths for Psybeam but this can simply be put to them channeling their Psychic energy's through their mouth as opposed to t going directly from their minds to their target, (with the exception of those whom use bodily movements to help channel it)

Solar beam (the only grass type move I can think of that uses the mouth) Is obvious in that is is transfering the solar energy from where it is collected (bulbs, leaves, etc...) to their mouths, exactly how these transferences occur -for all the types of attack- I am unsure of, although the bloodstream is a possibility.

For poison it's most likely that there are organs or glands that secrete some from of poisonous liquid, this is more likely to be situated inside the mouth than anywhere else. This organ/gland releases the toxins into the mouth where it is expelled somehow similar to the water (most likely though compressed carbon-dioxide from the respiration process that is stored somewher near the mouth) also there must be some way of the pokemon to alter the form of the poison depending on the attack being used. Either through mouth shape (as we would change the pitch and note when whistling) or with a seperate gland that secretes another group of liquids that reacts with the poison causing it to change it's form (this may happen inside the gland where the primary toxin is made instead of a separate gland secreting said chemicals into the mouth causing the reaction within the mouth itself)On a slightly unrelated note I would also say that the attack acid it the poison in it's original state, a simple, corrosive, poisonous liquid. Then poison sting is the same but in small darts as opposed to a large ball or stream. And attacks like sludge are the same but the liquid is thickened.

Ghost and dark types that use their mouhs in attacks such as shadow ball are similar to the Psychic types but with psychic energies replaced by dark/ghostly forces, spiritual matter, etc...

My theorie for Ice types is that they have the same system as water types however they freeze the water as it is expelled possibly via breathing on it (assuming this is the case they must have separate areas in the mouth for the expelling of water and the breathing of air unless they breathe out through their nose as water leaves their mouths, but this is unlikely as they would not be able to breathe in more air to keep producing the water and maintain a constant attack) or they cool their body temparature further so that the water is frozen automatically during expulsion (in which case they must be able to cool different parts of their body or it would freeze in their bodies, before expulsion, possibly suffocating them and certainly rendering them unable to fight, or even move in some cases)

In the case of Hyper Beam, well as far as we know that's just pure energy, and the pokemon needs to rest afterwards so the my most valid theory is that it is simply channeling raw energy to it's mouth as it would any other attack using it's mouth but it is instead using, it's energy in the same way as it woul to move but in the form of a beam somehow.

And I think that's all. Sorry if its a bit excessive.

Poison, Fighting, and some water types are probably easist to understand. All we have to do for those is look to nature, such as Poison-dart frogs or Adders, Karate Masters, and there are some fish that literally shoot their prey with streams of water.

For the large part that's what I've done, but you have to consider that some pokemon use the same element in different ways (Eg Poison) and they are unlikely to have a different organ for every form of attack, which is what happens if you take the characteristics of many animals and apply them to one pokemon. And if anybody brings up things such as the spitting cobra which could account for all such things, A not all of them have fangs and B a fang is hardly going to do all the diferent kinds of attack anyway (You're not going to fit thick sludge through tiny little holes you need the entire mouth and we know from the anime that Arbok, Seviper, etc.. use their entire mouths anyway.)

Next since when did Karate Masters use their mouths to shoot stuff at their opponents? I hardly think we can study them to find out how pokemon do it.

And as for things such as the Archer fish, thats a case of them sucking it in and spitting it out, we can do that (just not with the same level of accuracy, etc...) A pokemon on the other hand maintains a constant stream of it, without the need of the water physically being there, so they must somehow create it.

I think Pokémon dont urinate. Have you ever seen a Pikachu with a penis? Or any hole except a mouth? I mean, he doesnt even have an ass.

That's because it's a game/anime aimed at children. And actually IIRC there was a reference to pokemon droppings and buttholes in the Special manga.

I can't say for urination, but in D/P the girl who sells you mulch for berry says "I made it by mixing high-grade soil with Pokemon...um...you know..." That's as much evidence for pokemon poo as I need.

Really though, I think it's kind of silly to assume that they don't urinate just because they don't show it. Just because they never showed any bathrooms on the Enterprise doesn't mean no one had to pee.

This is a great theory, if a may say. I think it is far from excessive, it is brilliant
