So is anyone else enjoying the Pokemon Mysterious Dungeon Ginji's Rescue Team being printed in Nintendo Power? The second part's out this month, and we'll continue getting new chapters every issue for the next four months. After that, Viz will release the whole thing in graphic novel form and release it in March 2007.

So far, I'm really liking it. I saw a photo on a Japanese website that someone took of a page featuring an Absol and Freezer, which I assume is from a future chapter. So I'm excited to see how it all plays out.

I'm hoping someone takes and scanlates/copypastesenglishtextthe Japanese version properly. I hate the English sound effects. I makes the whole comic feel stupid :(

The Japanese onomatopoeia won't be much better :/

I've never understood why Pokemon fans are so resistant to buying Pokemon manga.

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

Seriously, buy the manga if it comes out in America innstead of scanslations.....

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that Viz 1) flopped the Pokemon manga 2)heavily censored the Ono comics 3)stopped printing Special after the Yellow arc?

Not that I have a problem with any of the above (okay, seeing Special back, as an actual, continuing series instead of this "best of" crap would be kinda nice), but many consider this a huge affront to their hardcore otaku sensibilities. Although I would like to see D/P unflopped. Ditto the Special rereleases, now that original format is the norm in manga publishing.

But, basically, the reasons some fans read scanlations is for much the same reason some fans download subbed episodes of the anime.

I'd give my left leg to get get viz to release DPspecial, and start releasing GS+Special (only joking on the leg part, so don't get any ideas viz)

I still hate that I missed viz day at the BART. I really wanted a luffy bart ticket to keep!

Mysterious Dungeon is unflopped. The "Best of" Pokemon Adventures collection has a good chance of being unflopped as well.

2)heavily censored the Ono comics

So you're going to let the censorship of one series (which, by the way, they were justified in doing) spoil all translated Pokemon manga from here until eternity?

3)stopped printing Special after the Yellow arc?

It's not Viz's fault people stopped buying the manga.

But, basically, the reasons some fans read scanlations is for much the same reason some fans download subbed episodes of the anime.

The reason people download fansubs are because a) the series isn't released in English yet, b) the English version that is available is heavily altered (i.e. One Piece), or c) because they're cheap scum who believe they should get all their anime for free and don't give a shit about the original creators. a) and b) don't apply to the Mysterious Dungeon manga this thread is about, so c) is really the only thing people who download fansubs and people who would download scanslations of the Mysterious Dungeon manga have in common.

1.They flopped Ranma 1/2 too, but that still sold. Quite well, I might add.
2. Ono was heavily censored even in Japanese. You haven't seen those pictures yet?
3. They stopped printing Special *because* no one bought it.

Hey, Dogasu, I think you missed something in my post:
Not that I have a problem with any of the above

I'm just rattling off other complaints I've seen in the past. Really, I loved the Ono manga.

And Blackjack, I never knew that about the Japanese... but it doesn't surprise me.

The way the fandom is ignoring the correct title of this video game/special/manga is annoying me to no end.

Pokemon Mysterious Dungeon - Ginji's Rescue Team seems like a pretty decent way of rendering ポケモン不思議のダンジョンギンジの救助隊 into English.

Well, yeah. But the English title is Mystery Dungeon. Is there any reason whatsoever to waste a second to type a few extra letters? We may as well be going around talking about Pikachuu and Myuu.

Eh, just something's that's been bugging me.

Be that as it may, both mysterious and mystery are perfectly correct ways to translate fushigi into English. Just like both Pikachu and Pikachuu are correct.

It's like the recent emergence of Shinou/Sinnoh. The PUSA spelling is the English spelling, regardless of the many ways it can be romanised. Eh, I have bitter memories of the Rukario debacle.

UK residents can get the first part of this manga in the ONM Pokémon 10th anniversary magazine with further installments being in future releases of Jetix magazine.

Chapter 4 is available in the US now...I should have a mini-summary up before too long. Only two more chapters to go!

Has anyone read the Japanese version of this manga? The only thing I can find online was a random scan from the Japanese version of Chapter 4...

Gengar comes off as out and out evil in the manga, whereas in the game he just seems like a big jerk.

So the final chapter is out with the newest Nintendo Power (it's the issue with Wario on the cover). What did you guys think of the manga overall?
