“I-I don’t care what kind of fiend you are! I won’t give in!” The dragon cried out, but even as he tried to sound defiant, his voice was wavering. After all, Latios hadn’t had to use his arms to pick himself up for a long time… and his adversary seemed to be nothing more than a common cubone. But then, the skull-clad creature just stared back. He was an opposite of Latios, he was calm, he was confident and he knew he was in control. Latios could almost imagine the smirk he was hiding behind the black-painted helmet.
“Ha! I’ve gotta say, your persistence is actually kinda funny! I mean, look at you! You can’t even fly and you still think you’re gonna take me down? Now how about you tell me where that sis-” he taunted the dragon, effortlessly avoiding the rays of light that shot towards him before he could even finish mentioning Latias. “Touchy about the girl?”
“You’ll keep your claws away from Latias!” Latios growled back, jumping back to his clipped wings, calling on whatever few ounces of strength he had left to charge headlong at the cubone, but too late, he realised that it was totally blind. He could swear that even under the mask, that cubone was smirking at him, watched the club brought around - and he barely even felt it when it did eventually make contact. After the battering he’d already taken, more pain was just… dull, even if he was totally rocked. He had no control over where he was going, careening wildly around the caves as his wings failed to answer him. The dragon registered something that probably should’ve been pain as he bounced against the jagged rocks - he slowly came to realise he was falling far… very far - but he didn’t stay conscious long enough to remember hitting the ground..
Latios groaned. The dragon had no bearing of where he was, he couldn’t open his eyes… the only things he could feel was the gentle pat of water drops steadily falling on his forehead and dull, empty aches. The air around him was all-but silent, so Latios stayed the same, the only thing he heard being his own strained breath, his aches growing into pains, that reminded him just how much of a beating he’d taken.
“L-Latios… please, you have to wake up…” that voice was so unmistakable to him. She had that wonderful way of sounding meek and innocent even if she was anything but.
“O-oh, hey La-Latias… gnh…” Latios muttered through teeth gritted in pain. “So… ab-bout the Dew…” he began, cutting himself off with a gasp as she clutched his head and cuddled him tight to her chest.
“You’re okay! I mean, uh… you’re not okay but you’re okay! I knew my big brother was tougher than just being beaten!” she cried out, drowning out the other dragon’s attempts to shush his excitable sister. “...No, but seriously what’s happened to you, Blue? Your feathers are such a mess…”
“...ugh… Long story. Latias, p-please… ju-just go, OK? We can’t get our Soul D-dew back..” he gasped at her, gently putting one of his hands onto hers, moving as little as possible, trying not to agitate his wounds.
“I… are you sure, Latios? Is there really no hope?” P-please tell me you are okay, you really look hurt…” she pleaded, but all she earned was a solemn shake of his head.
“I’m hurt real bad, Latias. You’ve gotta leave, now or you’re gonna end up just as bad as me, sis… c’mon, you haven’t got forever before he finds u- argh!” he hesitated for a second, wide-eyes with pain as his sister tried to scoop him up onto her back. “Y-you can’t carry me! You’ll never get out in time taking me with you!”
“What else can I do? Latios, you clearly can’t fly, how are you going to get out of here?” she asked with widened eyes, refusing to let go.
“I’ll find a way… don’t I always?” he replied, with a smile as hollow as his words. “Just look out for yourself on this one, Latias. I’ve got your back, like I’ve always got it..” A moment of silence hung in the air, Latias staring at the ground, stuck in her quandry… but too much time was passing. “Sorry, if you’re not gonna make this choice, sis I’m gonna have to force ya…” he said, with a hefty, weary sigh. He closed his eyes for a second and focused, a tear welling in his eyes, as the rocks in the ceiling gained a strange shine - before they imploded spectacularly, showering rocks down towards the pair - but the airborne Latias was blown clear away from the falling debris, she could only watch the dust cloud in ever-increasing horror as the cavern began to collapse. Latios was right, she had no choice but to leave as quickly as her wings could carry the Eon Pokémon, only barely outrunning the cascading rocks until she got to the pool, diving under, streaming through the underwater portion of the caverns… and all she could think about was her brother. She knew he was lying, she knew he was letting himself get caught. All over her. It was all her fault.
So hey, Bulbagarden. It's been a long time, I hope you remember me, although I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't. I used to be quite active here, hell for a short while I was even an RP mod. Truthfully, I don't even know when the URLs around here changed. Well, after a while, I fell out of love with writing and I fell to pieces a bit but you know what? I'M BACK, BABAY.
Anyone who's expecting a long and tearful reintroduction though, I guess that's going to have to wait. Because now I'm not doing RPs, I got that bug back for writing... at least, I have intermittently. So I've started up a new project that I hope to share with you and hopefully in return I'll be told how crap or not it is! That's how this place works right?
