On the outskirts of the lovely Spring Town stood a large castle, proudly overlooking the town as its walls covered everything that was on the other side. This castle was the base of the Star Ravers, one of the biggest Dungeon Hunting bases around, with many different fields for Pokemon to enjoy and make use of.

Standing in front of the castle was a huge crowd of Pokemon, all hopeful applicants that wished to become part of the new Star Ravers team that would be picked out that very day.

Sal stood among them, the Charmeleon looking around at his competition curiously as he tugged on the pouch that he had strapped around his shoulder. “Looks like it’s not going to be easy to make it in,” he muttered to himself before looking up at the castle, a sense of admiration and nervousness growing in him. “This is my chance to show the world what I’ve got, I won’t waste it,” he replied with a serous expression.

Overlooking the front yard from the highest tower of the castle were the other members of the Star Ravers, each of them scanning the applicants thoroughly. “Seems like we’ve got a lot of applicants this time around huh?” One of the members, a Talonflame spoke, a smirk crossing his face.

His beak had a scar on the left side and it seemed like his right eye had been ripped out due to the large scar that was in its place. “I’m more curious on whether there’s anyone there that can give me a good fight myself,” the flying type turned around to look at the Infernape that had walked from behind him, who in turn seemed to be really confident and eager at the sight of the rookies.

“You’ve always been hotheaded Apollo,” the Talonflame sighed with annoyance. “These kids all think they’ve got a shot, boy are they in for a surprise.”

“You say that but in reality you’re just worried about retiring, aren’t you Icarus?” came the calm and chiming voice of the Gardevoir that stood by the wall, her eyes closed as she stared up at the roof. “Master says that it’s time for us to train new people to take our place, and I can feel it…our successors are amongst this people.”

“I hate you and your habit of appearing out of the blue Minerva,” The Talonflame groaned with disdain towards the psychic type.

“Speaking of, where are the old fart, Charon and Ber?” Apollo asked curiously.

“The Master is resting right now,” Minerva replied silently. “Charon is in charge of starting the event in a few minutes and Ber said he didn’t really care about it and that he’ll just be lounging around the area while the test happens.”

A Vulpix was amongst the Pokemon who believed they could become one of the Star Ravers, her name being Nicoletta. She spent most of her her time waiting looking at the castle, as she had never seen one before. Treasure Town never had anything like it. Sure they had a famous guild, but it always seemed too boring and dull for Nicoletta's tastes. The numerous Pokemon wanting this highly sought out position just made her want to become part of the Star Ravers even more.

"Wow! There are so many Pokemon who want to join." She said with wonder, looking around at everyone. Pulling an apple out of her small messenger bag, she continued to study her fellow competitors. They all appeared like they had the same passion about this as she did. Between bites of the apple she added, "Heh! Looks like I'll have to do even better than everyone here!"

Nicolette was able to gather some attention from the other candidates thanks to her screams of determination. Sal chuckled a bit when she heard her, noticing that some Pokemon didn't seem to have taken a liking to her acting like she could do better than them. "You probably shouldn't be so loud about your desires right now," he pointed out to her while nodding his head.

A Zigzagoon, Izzy, stood in front of the large castle, looking over the structure with childlike wonder. It was enormous, larger than any other explorer base he had seen before.

"Wow! And I thought Wigglytuff's Guild was impressive..." he thought to himself. He was nervous, but determined, and very eager to get started. He looked around at the other Pokemon who had gathered around, taking a note of their species and defining features.

"I wonder how many of us will get picked?" He spoke his thoughts out loud. He made sure his green scarf was tied neatly around his neck, straightening it out so as to appear more professional.

"Oh, silly!" Nicoletta cheerfully replied to Sal. "I'm building up my confidence!!" She shouted even louder in spite of his comment. After realizing this was quite rude, she placed her apple on the ground and pulled another one out of her bag. "You want one? It almost tastes as good as a Perfect Apple--!" She asked in a singsongy tone of voice.

Samo was observing all of his "opponents" eagerly and grading them accordingly to his own "Strength chart". "I think that Sewaddle is perhaps a 2, maybe 3 ... That Starmie is most likely a strong 8 ... Dunsparce? Hah, definitely a 1!" The Dewott continued this rude behavior for five minutes before he suddenly was smacked on the back of his head hard with someone's tail. Looking around to find the culprit of the heinous act, he eventually found out that it was none other than his partner, Kata.

The Servine had a stern look on her face and was staring at the shameful, silent Dewott. "Samo, I know that you're very excited for this once-in-a-lifetime oppurtunity, but could you please not insult the other applicants like that?" She took the Dewott's continued silence as a yes and watched the energetic crowd as it moved about.

"Oh," Sal looked at the apple curiously, only to feel his stomach grumble a bit. He had run out of food the day before and as thus hadn't eaten anything till them. "Yeah, dont'mind if I do," he nodded his head as he grabbed the apple and bit into it, a smile crossing his face. "You're right, this is really good," he said, throwing the apple up and swallowing it in one gulp. "...sorry, I've been kind of hungry for a while."

Nicoletta watched Sal eat the apple in amusement. "No worries, I have a lot of apples just in case I get lost in a dungeon or something." She said with a laugh, opening her bag to show him. "I found most of these in Apple Woods. The grass types there aren't exactly terrifying."

Towards the back of the crowd, a lone Riolu stood, his face concealed by a black hooded cloak. Known as Achilles, he was a traveller and a mercenary. He pulled out a small flask and downed a gulp of berry juice as he surveyed his competition. It appeared that they didn't amount to much.

"Exactly," Nicoletta replied to Sal, playfully sticking out her tongue. "Though type doesn't exactly mean everything if you're strong enough." After a moment of thought she added, "Or sneaky enough. Anyway, I plan on making my skills much better than before. I want to be a Pokemon well known for the things I've done. And you?"

Izzy couldn't help but notice the Vulpix and Charmeleon in the group, the former sharing her apple with the latter. He realized he himself had neglected to eat properly during his journey here. He was about to ask if the Vulpix had any spare, but he felt it extremely rude to impose such a request on a stranger. He could find his own food easy enough.

He began to sniff at the ground, wandering around a bit, but not straying too far from the rest of the group. After a minute of searching, he had found something: two perfectly ripe Oran berries, apparently dropped and abandoned in a small bush.

"Score!" he thought to himself, quickly scooping up the berries and returning to his original spot in front of the castle. He stashed the first berry in the pocket on his green scarf, nibbling on the second contentedly.

Sinai stood quietly amongst the others trying to get into the Star Ravers guild. He actually wasn't aiming for the same thing as the others. He had originally went to ask the guild personally for help retrieving his memory, however not realizing that it was recruitment day, he got stuck in the crowd. Now he couldn't get out due to being unable to find his voice to leave.

He waited patiently for the thing to get started. He would just follow along so as too be able to talk to the guild more easily. Of course that was assuming he lasted that long. He jumped as he heard a yell and then again as another one came a few moments later. He wasn't sure who it was but the yelling was quite scary. He watched as a zigzagoon passed by, finding oran berries and keeping them. He hoped they didn't belong to anyone otherwise there would be a fight between the normal type and other pokemon.

A larger pokemon nearly stepped on him so he quickly slithered out of the way, hearing a dewott rate pokemon. He briefly wondered what he would be rated as. Then he heard a loud noise and some wrestling right by him, avoiding the little fun the others were having he moved quickly, jumping in the process, crashing into the zigzagoon, and causing both to crash into a vulpix and charmeleon. Nevertheless they were all most likely seeing stars.

"Wah!" Izzy yelped in surprised as something came crashing into him, knocking him into Sal and Nicoletta. "I'm sorry! I didn't know the berries were yo-- wha?"

He clumsily got up on his feet again, seeing the Charmeleon, Vulpix, and Dratini with equally confused expressions on their faces.

"Is everybody all right? What happened?" Izzy asked with a concerned tone.

"What was that?!" Nicoletta exclaimed, rubbing at the smack wound on her head. As soon as she realized what happened, she looked over to see who it was who crashed into them. "Who are you?" After hearing what the others had to say, all she could manage to spit out was, "Y-Yeah, I'm okay. How about you all?"

Izzy shook his head, reorienting himself before speaking up.

"A little rustled, but I'm fine." he said cheerfully. He shook his whole body to straighten out his fur before checking to make sure his scarf was still on straight. "My name's Izzy, by the way."

Nicoletta frowned at the apples that had fallen out of her bag from the impact. "Hm. That's good." She replied to Izzy, her eyes still focused on the apples. "I'm Nicoletta. Do you want any of these apples? They're quite dirty and I really don't want dirty apples..."

Sinai looked at the others, and listened to them speak. He blushed from embarrassment, knowing it was his fault. "S-sorry. It wa-was my fault. I-I wwasn't careful," he stuttered, bowing to them. The pink dratini looked at them nervously, hoping they would forgive him. But what if they didn't? Then would they attack him and beat him? He gulped at the thought.

"They're not that bad. Here..." Izzy said, untying and removing his scarf, grabbing one of the apples and polishing it off with the cloth. Once he felt it was good and clean, he nudged it back towards Nicoletta. "There. Good as new!"

"It's okay, everyone seems to be fine." Izzy turned to address the clearly flustered Dratini. He gave him a friendly smile to reassure him.
