Well, do you nickname your Pokemon? Just the ones on your main team? Just the legendaries? All of them? None?

I nickname all of them, even the ones I'll never use. In the game, they're like individual sentient creatures, right? With personalities and all. And sentient creatures must have names. That's what I think.

I also just like thinking up names.

YES!

But not idiotic ones like "Firestorm" or "Megalis", but I use names like "Freddie", "Nicole", and "Marco".

In Fire Red, I nicknamed all of my pokemon, and then this generation, I only nicknamed my starter. However, once I get a good, EV trained battling team together, I plan to nickname them all.

I don't name them only if they're for dex completion or a random shiny.

I name team members, those I'm going to mate, and the maybe resulting babies.

Yes and no.

Normally, I don't nickname my Pokemon. But the last file I played on Pearl, I went through nicknaming every Pokemon I had. It was hard thinking up nicknames on the spot, but I ended up with some pretty good ones. Example, my Elite Four team that file was:

Yggdrasil (Torterra)
Phantasm (Mismagius)
Larch (Sudowoodo)
Nosferatu (Crobat)
Kraken (Octillery)
Dotaku (Bronzong)

I name all of the Pokemon I catch. With the starters, I usually try and think up a theme to run between them. For instance, I named my Kanto starters after ancient Philosophers.

I also name my legendaries after the Japanese word for what ever they represent. For instance, I named my Lugia Arashi (Storm) and my Ho-oh Niji (Rainbow). If they don't really seem to embody anything, I just give them something that I like for it, like Duke (Mewtwo) or Vulcan (Heatran).

For everything else, I usually try and think up something appropriate, but when I can't think of anything, I usually just give it the first thing that comes to mind. Like my Bidoof, Tina.

yes most of my pokemon are nicknamed. but I don't usually nickname legends because i use them for trading purposes.

99% of the time, no. I will sometimes name random Boxed Pokémon for identification purposes. For example, all the Pokémon I used for contests in Emerald were given their Japanese names.

I only nickname my in-game team all the Pokémon I trained except for my Blissey, Celebi, and Jirachi, Blissey coming from my FR and forgot to nickname, Celebi from the event, and Jirachi from the Colosseum pre-order disk.

I only usually nickname the ones I use, but I definitely Nick Name my pokemon. It'd feel weird to me if I didn't, lol

I've never nicknamed my Pokemon in any of the previous games.

And that stays true for my Diamond and Pearl versions.

Basically, I don't nickname my Pokemon, because Ash doesn't nickname his Pokemon. XD

(in the games, I like to copy things that Ash does, and I always end up catching/raising the same Pokemon as he does too)

I rarely end up nicknaming my pokemon, and if I do it's for some oddball reason. It was always a weird concept to me ;p

my sister loves nicknaming her pokemon though. Her piplup is actually Pochama because she loved how it sounded so much in the Japanese version x)

I always try and nickname every Pokemon I catch. Either they are named after mythological gods/goddesses or names that just pop into my head.

To add on my previous post, I tend to stick to the first letter of the Pokemon's name I caught it as. Thus, I have Pokemon like Celia the Carnivine, Craig the Toxicraok, Harry the Hippowdon, Maggie the Honchkrow, Sally the Spiritomb.

However, there are exceptions, like Napoleon the Empoleon. :)

My Japanese dudes from Pearl are akward though due to the name changes...:)
Also, 5 character limit :(

This is quite a bit like my Pokemon Nickname post in the Diamond/Pearl section, thought mine might be slightly more specific.

Anyways.. I name all of my pokemon either after a mythological being, something relating to the pokemon translated to a foreign language, the scientific name of the order or occasionally the species of whatever the pokemon may most closely resemble, characters from literature, inventors, politicians, or friends.

I name 80% of my pokes, that gives them a "me" feel and makes them closer to me in a way.

I also name in all caps.

Names for me are usually very random, they are usually based on what the monster is supposed to be - like Hellhound for my Houndoom.

Sometimes the names are after songs or bands, like my Jolteon named Riot, or Lapras named Tallulah

I look up names for females, I'm terrible with female names.

I also made it a personal priority to name every single eevee I hatch.

Edit: Also, I never use American human names, because those are names for a PERSON, not a creature. Like Michael. And for one, most of those names, like Michael, are from the Bible. I'm a religious stay-away

I name all my Pokemon.
For example, my current team is Juno, a male Gardevoir, Cindy, my female Blaziken, Akeyla, my female Mightyena, Pidgey, my male Swellow, Duke, a male Lanturn, and Dara, my female Gyrados. Some other Pokemon I decided to give a crap about include Abby, the Ninetails, Derek, the Sandslash, Joseph, the Vulpix, Xylon, the Groudon, and Daniel, the Raichu.

Yeah, I nickname them. Usually after a mythological creature (e.g my Kyogre is named Leviathan), a God/Goddess (e.g my Lugia is named Ryujin), a character I like, a word (usually Italian) that relates to them, or just something random...
