Ah, Valentine’s Day… you can hear the Taillows and Pidoves chirping, the Nidorans nuzzling each other, the Tauros challenging each other to win the affection of a Miltank, and many more Pokémon occupied in their search of their match.
Even people of the World of Pokémon can feel the love tonight, and among the vast number and variety of amazing creatures, there is one species in particular which becomes extremely popular in this time of the year among budding couples.
And this week's special Pokémon is none other than…
What’s not to love about this little creature? It has a distinctive pink heart-shaped body, which is hydrodynamic and hydrated enough to allow it to reach incredible speeds or to heal from bad status ailments when it is raining.
It’s most commonly found in tropical seas, and it is said that any loving couple that spots them will have a never ending relationship. Talk about the Cupid of the Sea!
It really seems to be romance incarnated, as it shows a particular interest for the shining Heart Scales and becomes despondent if left by its own, leaving it easy prey of sea predators like Pelipper.
To further reinforce the romance lore, it also has some kiss-based moves in its arsenal, like Sweet Kiss and Draining Kiss, as well as heart-based attacks, like Charm, Heart Stamp and Attract. Luvdisc also shows to be a supportive Pokémon, being able to learn moves like Heal Pulse and Lucky Chant.
This aquatic heart has also a few appearances in the anime, being one of the Pokémon used by Juan during the Gym Battle against Ash. It managed to beat Ash’s Grovyle throughhax the usage of the move Sweet Kiss and a quick Water Gun, before being taken down by Corphish.
A pair of Luvdiscs has also appeared in the special episode “Luvdisc is a Many Splendored Thing!”, under the ownership of Misty and Daisy, where they worked together to defeat the Team Rocket’s members Butch and Cassidy, ultimately showing that love always prevails!
But enough talking about this mushy stuff! It’s time to discuss about this peculiar Pokémon, and what’s better way to kickstart discussion if not by answering a few questions?
As usual, you don't have to answer all of them or any of them in your post, but make sure to stay on topic and within global forum rules. You can also suggest new questions, if you wish.
