Continuing on from XY, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are set to introduce a brand new group of Mega Evolutions.

fqjGTjD.png
Mega Sceptile
Type: Grass/Dragon
Ability: Lightning Rod
Stat changes known so far: None
Thanks to the power in its quick legs, Mega Sceptile can be on its opponent in a flash! Mega Sceptile can cut off a portion of its tail to fire it like a missile at an opponent. Its lost tail will continue regenerating as long as it still has the energy for Mega Evolution.

Mega Swampert
Type: Water/Ground
Ability: Swift Swim
Stat changes known so far: +Attack
When Swampert Mega Evolves into Mega Swampert, the strength that it needs to act in the water is increased, and it can use its tenacious power both on land and in the water. Despite its large body, its Speed will fully double when the weather is rainy. The musculature of Mega Swampert’s upper body has developed immensely, making it look tougher than ever.

Mega Blaziken
Type: Fire/Fighting
Ability: Speed Boost
Mega Blaziken makes its reappearance here after being a Wi-Fi event exclusive Mega Stone at the beginning of XY's release period. When Blaziken Mega Evolves into Mega Blaziken, it further hones the power of its kicks, always a source of pride to it. As it unleashes a flurry of savage kicks, its legs can begin to burn from the friction of the surrounding atmosphere. With its Speed Boost Ability making it faster with each passing turn, Mega Blaziken becomes unstoppable! As Mega Blaziken’s body temperature increases, its power and speed continue to ramp up.

TPKlbYk.png
Mega Beedrill
Type: Bug/Poison
Ability: Adaptability
Known stat changes so far: +Atk, +Speed
The poison it produces from its four limbs all work instantaneously, yet the poison it emits from its tail is slow-acting. It uses the former to prevent its foes from fleeing, and the latter to deal the finishing blow. With six wings, Mega Beedrill flies to the attack with great speed! The poisonous barbs on its tail and arms both grow larger, and its legs sprout poisonous stingers to boot!

f5W0D2a.png
Mega Pidgeot
Type: Normal/Flying
Ability: No Guard
Known stat changes so far: +Sp.Atk
The gusts it can whip up with its tough and well-developed wings are powerful enough to smash huge trees. The minerals that go into Pidgeot's feathers change, resulting in a change in their coloration as well. Its body grows much stronger, with the greatest improvements in its wings. The longer crest on its head acts like a sensitive antenna, and improves its stability while in flight.

GHPEPBr.png
Mega Slowbro
Type: Water/Psychic
Ability: Shell Armour
Stat changes known so far: +Def, +Sp.Atk
Mega Slowbro's energy has gathered in the Shellder clamped onto its tail. As a result, the hardness of its shell is boosted, making an armor so hard that nothing and no one can scratch it. When Mega Slowbro battles, it stands up on its tail. It can move by bouncing along, using its tail as a spring.

aAyOcaU.png
Mega Steelix
Type: Steel/Ground
Ability: Sand Force
Known stat changes: +Atk, +Def, +Sp.Def
The cells within its body, crystallized by the energy produced from Mega Evolution, are stronger than any mineral and able to withstand any temperature. It moves incredibly slowly, but its strengthened body is also impervious to damage, and it lashes out at foes without flinching.

DP8hRE8.png
Mega Sableye
Type: Dark/Ghost
Ability: Magic Bounce
Stat changes known so far: +Def, +Sp.Atk, -Speed
Sableye has concentrated all of the energy from its Mega Evolution into the red jewel on its chest, which increases in size and detaches from its body. This enlarged jewel boasts incredible hardness, and it is said that no attack can even make a scratch on it! During battle, Mega Sableye shelters itself behind the jewel, from where it can take advantage of any openings its target leaves exposed.

E8epuvh.png
Mega Sharpedo
Type: Water/Dark
Ability: Strong Jaw
Stat changes known so far: +Atk, +Def, +Sp.Atk, +Sp.Def, +Speed
The fangs in Mega Sharpedo's mouth have transformed, and the horns that have sprouted from its nose can be regrown countless times. The yellow patterns on its body are scars carved into it in battle. With explosive propulsion, it can exceed 125 mph in an instant. Mega Sharpedo is used by Archie.

2qElw51.png
Mega Camerupt:
Type: Fire/Ground
Ability: Sheer Force
Stat changes known so far: +Atk, +Def, +Sp.Atk, +Sp.Def, -Speed
The humps on its back have transformed into one large and very active volcano. Magma is constantly bubbling up from within its body. It has a deep hatred of water or any moisture, and has an explosive personality and a short temper. The volcano on its back erupts constantly in an effort to intimidate its foes. Mega Camerupt is used by Maxie.

hCIV3QV.png
Mega Altaria
Type: Dragon/Fairy
Ability: Pixilate
Known stat changes so far: +Atk, +Def, +Sp.Atk
Mega Altaria's body is enveloped in its unique feathers, which glimmer with an iridescent sheen. They have grown even larger as a self-protective measure. It sings with a voice that is even more beautiful than before it Mega Evolved. It has a sociable personality and is not timid. It is used by Lisia in contests.

GwPuKud.png
Mega Glalie
Type: Ice
Ability: Refrigerate
Known stat changes: +Atk, +Sp.Atk, +Speed
The excessive energy from its Mega Evolution gushes out of its mouth, blasting away and destroying its jaw. It is no longer able to close its mouth, and the freezing air it emits becomes far stronger. It tosses foes into its gaping mouth, expelling a burst of chilled air to freeze them instantly.

GwEncDy.png
Mega Salamence
Type: Dragon/Flying
Ability: Aerilate
Stat changes known so far: +Def
The energy from Salamence's Mega Evolution is focused on its wings. Its two wings fuse together, becoming a single huge wing in a crescent shape. When flying at high speeds, this wing becomes a great blade, slicing through anything loitering in Mega Salamence's way.

smZ7A1R.png
Mega Metagross
Type: Steel/Psychic
Ability: Tough Claws
Stat changes known so far: +Atk, +Def, +Sp.Atk, +Sp.Def, +Speed
Mega Metagross is used by Steven.

miFiVpy.png
Mega Latias:
Type: Dragon/Psychic
Ability: Levtiate
Known stat changes: +Atk, +Def, +Sp.Atk, +Sp.Def
Among the fastest Pokémon in existence, Mega Latios and Mega Latias can outrace a jet in flight and reach a speed of Mach 4! Latias becomes more agile and can make very sharp turns when it Mega Evolves. Its eyes are larger, and its irises are yellow.

Mega Latios:
Type: Dragon/Psychic
Ability: Levitate
Known stat changes: +Atk, +Def, +Sp.Atk, +Sp.Def
Among the fastest Pokémon in existence, Mega Latios and Mega Latias can outrace a jet in flight and reach a speed of Mach 4! When Latios Mega-Evolves, it is larger, and can achieve higher speeds in flight. Its eyes are narrower, and its irises are red.

RK2cPpR.png
Mega Rayquaza
Type: Dragon/Flying
Ability: Delta Stream
Stat changes known so far: +Atk, +Sp.Atk
Particles stream from the long filaments that extend from its jutting jaw. These particles can control the density and humidity of the air, allowing Rayquaza to manipulate the weather. Its green hide sparkles with an emerald-like quality. Rayquaza is said to be somehow connected with the mysteries of Mega Evolution. The Legendary Pokémon Rayquaza is said to achieve Mega Evolution in a unique way—unlike that of other Pokémon—due to its unique biology.

Uro43fi.png
Mega Lopunny
Type: Normal/Fighting
Ability: Scrappy
Known stat changes so far: +Atk, +Speed
New moves: High Jump Kick
Mega Lopunny's wild fighting instincts, long dormant, have been awakened! A full-power strike from its ears could crumple solid steel plates. Its personality transforms and becomes extremely aggressive, which often leaves its Trainer feeling bewildered by the change.

vEeTWOy.png
Mega Gallade
Type: Psychic/Fighting
Ability: Inner Focus
Known stat changes so far: +Atk, +Speed
Plates emerge on Gallade's arms, and the helmet and cape-like protrusions on its head and back give it a knightly appearance. When the situation demands, Mega Gallade can use its psychic power to reshape both arms into blades simultaneously, and fight using a dual-wielding style. Mega Gallade is used by Wally.

UrNZ7MI.png
Mega Audino
Type: Normal/Fairy
Ability: Healer
Stat changes known so far: +Def, +Sp.Def
New moves: Misty Terrain
Mega Audino emits a soothing pulse from its body that reduces hostility in others. This powerful pulse calms any who come in range. Additionally, any creature that happens to come in contact with its second feelers will fall into a deep sleep.

RY1C5AN.png
Mega Diancie
Type: Rock/Fairy
Ability: Magic Bounce
Known stat changes so far: +Atk, +Sp.Atk, +Speed, -Def, -Sp.Def
The impurities upon its body’s surface have fallen away, and it sparkles so brilliantly when reflecting light that you cannot look directly at it. The diamond on its head measures over 2,000 carats. In order to Mega Evolve Diancie into Mega Diancie, you'll have to start by obtaining Diancie for your Pokémon X or Pokémon Y game. Then, bring the Diancie you received into Pokémon Omega Ruby or Pokémon Alpha Sapphire!

Primal Reversion:

Primal Reversion is a new feature in ORAS. There appears to be a connection between Primal Reversion and Mega Evolution, as both allow a Pokemon to reach a higher level of power. However, Primal Reversion appears to be the Pokemon's original power, and sends them back to a previous state they once had.
62aL7Vq.png
Primal Groudon
Type: Ground/Fire
Ability: Desolate Land
Known stat changes so far: +Atk
New moves: Precipice Blade
The energy that fills its body pours forth as magma, and it burns with such an extreme temperature that its body is always shimmering with the haze of its heat.

XXmK3qZ.png
Primal Kyogre
Type: Water
Ability: Primordial Rain
Known stat changes so far: +Sp.Atk
New moves: Origin Pulse
The energy that fills its body spills forth as seawater. Its body composition becomes nearly a match for seawater, and its blue skin glows like a sapphire. Its body is half-translucent, and a golden light glows from within it. It is more mysterious and magnificent than ever!

The Protagonists
q95RGtJ.png
Brendan and May return as the protagonists. Whichever character you don't play as will also return as your neighbour.

The Professor
mDElckw.png
The story starts when you save Professor Birch as he is being attacked by a wild Pokémon. He runs the Pokémon Lab in Littleroot Town. When you save Professor Birch, you will have your first meeting with the Pokémon that will become your partner on your journey, and a new bond will be born. Birch has been good friends with your father, Norman, since their school days. He has a tendency to get enthralled with Pokémon and leave home for long periods.

A Rival
39pioj6.png
Wally is a Trainer who grows in the hope of catching up to you. This young man lives with his parents in Petalburg City. Shy, even meek, Wally speaks rarely and takes care to be polite. When you first meet Wally, he is a weak, fidgety boy. But your presence inspires Wally to grow into a strong Trainer. Not only have his battle skills grown, but his spirit as well.

The Champion
6YCrb9M.png
Steven will be closely involved with you while you explore Hoenn. This mysterious young man with the elegant bearing has a great interest in collecting rare stones. He is in pursuit of the true story behind the mysteries that lie at the heart of the stories in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire: the origins of Mega Evolution and the Legendary Pokémon. If you manage to defeat the Elite Four, the summit of the Pokémon League will be your next goal, where you must challenge Steven. As the Champion of the Hoenn region's Pokémon League, Steven uses Steel-type Pokémon. Steven is also a user of Mega Evolution. He wears a Mega Stickpin, which bears a Key Stone, one of the mysterious stones needed for a Pokémon to Mega Evolve.

The Antagonist Teams
EJ0nudz.png
During your adventure, you will battle Team Magma in Omega Ruby and Team Aqua in Alpha Sapphire. Team Magma seeks to increase the land, while Team Aqua wishes to increase the seas. In order to bring about these grand plans, each will turn to the power of a Legendary Pokémon: Groudon or Kyogre. Team Magma pursues Groudon, while Team Aqua goes after Kyogre.
Team Magma is an organization that plots to increase the landmass on the planet, effectively adding to the area upon which humanity can labor to achieve even greater evolution and development. Believing that humanity's development will lead to greater happiness for all the world, the members of Team Magma think that laboring for the equal coexistence of humanity and Pokémon is a foolish idea that serves only to hold back humanity’s progress.
Team Aqua is an organization that plots to increase the size of the oceans in an effort to bring back the rich habitats lost to Pokémon due to humanity’s greed. The ocean is the font of all life, and by restoring it, the members of Team Aqua think that they can recreate an ideal home for Pokémon.

KjolC6m.png
Maxie is the leader of Team Magma, the team seeking a world ideal for humanity. He pays attention to even the smallest of details, and is quite sensitive in some regards. He has a habit of describing situations in numerical terms. He possesses a cool-headed outlook, thinking that some sacrifices cannot be avoided if he is to achieve his goals.

MS2J0tA.png
Tabitha normally has a benign expression on his face, but when he gets worked up, his eyes become shrewd and his gaze is as sharp as a knife. His natural inclination to be helpful has apparently made him very popular with the Grunts. There are rumors that he has his sights set on becoming the leader of Team Magma.
Courtney is a former scientist. She is known to have a brilliant mind, and she adores Maxie. She does not speak often, and shows little interest in much of what goes on around her—or even her own situation. Her personality is such that once her interest in someone or something is awakened, she will pursue it tirelessly. As you stand in Team Magma's way time and again, she begins to take an interest in you...

AcLBmBh.png
Archie is the leader of Team Aqua, a man with an unwavering heart who seeks to build an ideal home for Pokémon. His big-hearted and stirring personality has won him deep loyalty from his subordinates. But he is also a dangerous figure, not caring what happens to himself or his team as long as he can achieve his goals.

JLj55Wo.png
Shelly could be described as the brains of Team Aqua. Her style and her attitude may both seem extreme, but her intelligence, her blunt personality, and her dynamism have won her many fans among the members of Team Aqua.
Matt's huge body, like that of a wrestler, holds a powerful will. He owes a debt to Archie, who once saved him, and he is loyal to his savior to the very depths of his heart. He has adopted Archie's ideals as his own, and he is ready to sacrifice his own life if it would help to make them a reality.

Gym Leaders
UICN7G8.png
Roxanne is both a star pupil at the Trainers' School in Rustboro City and a Gym Leader with true ability. She tries hard to sound mature for her age. You'll earn the Stone Badge if you defeat this tough Trainer. Roxanne uses Rock-type Pokémon, including Nosepass.

haWJ0Qp.png
Brawly uses Fighting-type Pokémon, including Makuhita. He is an agreeable young man with a refreshing personality. Due to his surfing hobby, he has well-toned legs and shoulders and a great sense of balance. Defeat Brawly to earn the Knuckle Badge.

g0Ciyr5.png
Wattson was born and raised in Mauville City, where many different people gather, so he has a very sociable personality. He gets happy just by talking to others. His motto for life is that laughter is the best medicine. Wattson uses Electric-type Pokémon, one of which is the Electric- and Steel-type Magneton. If you can beat him, you'll earn the Dynamo Badge.

feanGn0.png
Flannery uses Fire-type Pokémon, including Torkoal. She just became a Gym Leader and is struggling to act tough so people won't look down on her. She likes the Lavaridge hot springs because they have good aesthetics.

j7zfsvM.png
Norman is both your father and Professor Birch’s best friend from their school days. He dedicates himself fully each day to perfecting Pokémon battle skills. Norman uses Normal-type Pokémon, including Slaking.

Jjms9OL.png
Wallace, the Gym Leader of Sootopolis City, is a Water-type Pokémon user. He seems to know something about the legends passed down in Hoenn... Wallace appears again in the Delta Episode.

Elite Four
Ugvk9Rs.png
Sidney of the Elite Four is known for his chill attitude and sense of fashion. Sidney loves Pokémon battling, caring little whether he wins or loses. Sidney uses Dark-type Pokémon, including the Grass- and Dark-type Shiftry.

qcXh5xR.png
While spending time at Mt. Pyre, Phoebe became able to communicate with Ghost-type Pokémon. She still thinks that she needs some training as a Pokémon Trainer, but she has confidence in her ability to communicate with her Pokémon. Dusknoir is one of the Ghost-type Pokémon that make up Phoebe's team.

Other important characters
sLFrrDp.png
Aarune is an expert on Secret Bases. An adventurer traveling the wide world, the enthusiastic Aarune can currently be found in the Hoenn region. He's quite taken with the Secret Base culture in the Hoenn region and wants to teach you about the fun of Secret Bases during your journey. His partner Pokémon is Flygon.

Vi131Xn.png
Lisia is the number-one contest star in the Hoenn region, performing as a pair with her Pokémon partner, an Altaria named Ali. She can see the potential in you and your Pokémon. Although she is a contest prodigy, she also doesn't shy away from hard work and effort, which is where her true appeal lies.

pEGhjfc.png
In the Delta Episode, it is Zinnia who holds the key. Wearing a fearless smile, she travels the Hoenn region in pursuit of her goal. Her true identity is shrouded in mystery. Zinnia journeys with Whismur as her companion. From the first time you meet, Zinnia talks to you cheerily. Zinnia appears and asks you some significant questions. "The actions that you're taking now... Are they based on the ideals you cling to? Or are they based on actual truths? And if they are... How much of the truth do you think you know?" What purpose is she working to achieve? Zinnia is a Mega Evolution user. She wears the Mega Anklet, set with one of the mysterious Key Stones needed to Mega Evolve her Pokémon, on her right ankle. In battle, she will Mega Evolve Salamence and send it out against her opponents.

  • Don't miss the conflict between Rayquaza and Deoxys!
Contests
po73Yho.png
It wouldn't be Hoenn without Contests!
  • There are still five kinds of contests: Toughness, Coolness, Beauty, Cuteness and Cleverness.
  • There are four ranks: Normal, Super, Hyper and Master. Climb the ranks!
  • Pokeblocks return to increase your Pokemon's condition in a particular contest category. They are made from berries.
  • The Introduction Round of Contests is the first stage of a contest and the more your Pokemon's conditions have improved by feeding Pokeblocks, the better the reception from the audience.
  • The Talent Round is the main round of a contest. Use moves of your contest category to increase the excitement, startle your opponents and create combinations.
  • Try to plan your moves for when the audience's excitement reaches max. When it reaches maximum some Pokemon can even Mega Evolve!
  • Contests can be played online, so you can compete against friends and family.
  • You can take photos during Contests.
  • As you climb the ranks you'll gain fans who will gift you with items.
Cosplay Pikachu
OuaCyBt.png

0zpFC8G.png
Cosplay Pikachu is a special Pikachu given to you after you take part in your first contest.
  • Only the Cosplay Pikachu can dress up in the special outfits.
  • It has five different costumes for each different contest category. Each one has its own unique move: Rock Star Pikachu (Cool) has Meteor Mash, Pikachu, Ph.D (Clever) has Electric Terrain, Pikachu Pop Star (Cute) has Draining Kiss, Pikachu Belle (Beauty) has Icicle Crash and Pikachu Libre (Tough) has Flying Press.
  • Cosplay Pikachu can wear the costumes in both Amie and battles.
Secret Bases
lCdGlVJ.png
It also wouldn't be Hoenn without Secret Bases!
  • Find Secret Spots in trees, bushes and walls. Once inside decorate the place however you want! Make mazes and traps or make it comfy. You can even make it your own gym!
  • You can share Secret Bases through StreetPass or QR codes.
  • When you visit other Bases you can talk or even battle other members there. You can recruit them as your Secret Pals to bring back to your base, once they are your Secret Pal you can continue to battle against them or have them help you through "special skills". Form teams using your Secret Pals!
  • The special skills the Secret Pals can offer include: levelling up your Pokemon, giving you decorations or making eggs hatch faster.
  • You can set rules for which kind of battles are allowed in your Secret Base. You can then wait for other trainers to challenge you to make it your own gym.
  • Capture flags when visiting other bases. Capturing flags increases your team's rank and can give rewards, including increasing the skills your Secret Pals offer. Flag colours change based on the owner's rank, so you can easily see what rank they are and they can see yours.
Soaring
rgR1WB3.png

  • Something more happens when you catch Regirock, Regice, and Registeel. The powerful Legendary Pokémon Regigigas will awaken!
PokeNav Plus
zYXLNNr.png
The PokéNav Plus is your best friend on your adventure. It's a handy tool that will help you navigate your adventure as a Pokémon Trainer. As you progress through the story, the number of functions you can use will increase.
  • The PokéNav Plus features four main applications: the DexNav, AreaNav, BuzzNav, and PlayNav.
  • The DexNav application displays information about Pokémon that appear in the area you’re currently in.
  • It has search function that allows you to learn more about Pokémon hiding in the field. You can know what what kind of Ability or moves it might have before battling it.
  • You can choose to search only for certain species as long as you have caught at least one. The Search Level goes up in proportion to how many of that Pokémon you have found. As the Search Level goes up: It becomes easier for you to encounter Pokémon with Hidden Abilities or rare moves and the information you see about Pokémon you’re searching for will become more detailed.
  • Pokémon encounters can also be used to register Pokémon in your Pokédex: Spot a Pokémon traveling together with its Trainer in the city, find a school of Pokémon swimming in a horde, spy some Pokémon riding on the winds and the DexNav will start.
  • You can see the area you’re currently in, along with Pokémon you have encountered and caught there. An area Pokémon that you have encountered at least once will appear in silhouette and catching it will cause its icon will show up in full color.
  • The AreaNav can tell you where certain locations are, where to find Pokémon and Trainers, Secret Bases, and your Berry Trees. You can even check in on how your Berries are coming along. You can also see which trainers are ready for a rematch and learn details about them.
  • With the BuzzNav application, you can view news from around the Hoenn region and from other players whom you've passed by. The TV shows that appear come in all different formats, from news about Trainers and Secret Bases, to interviews from the streets of Hoenn, and news and entertainment programs full of information about Pokémon.
  • The PlayNav application is the return of XY's PSS. It lets you trade Pokémon, do battle with others, use the Super Training app, and have fun in Pokémon-Amie. In total it includes the PSS, Holocaster, Battle Spot, GTS, Wonder Trade, O-Powers, Shout-outs, Super Training and Amie.
Bikes
MwjlVYu.png
Both the Mach and Acro bike return.
  • The Mach bike allows you to ride up steep slopes.
  • The Acro bike provides you with a way to hop over bridges and up stepping stones.
Trainer Hordes
rQUa6WM.png
Horde battles return and also have a new inclusion.
  • Hordes now aren't restricted to wild Pokemon and you can be challenged by trainer hordes!

Delta Stream is Mega Rayquaza's ability and changes the weather to strong winds, which has multiple effects:
  • The moves Rain Dance, Sunny Day, Sandstorm, and Hail will fail.
  • The Abilities Drizzle, Drought, Sand Stream, and Snow Warning will fail to activate.
  • Moves of a type that Flying-type Pokémon are usually weak to will only deal normal damage to any Flying-type Pokémon in the battle.
  • When it is swapped out for another Pokémon on your team, the weather immediately returns to normal.
  • Delta Stream and Air Lock are different in that Delta Stream fills the air with strong winds for as long as Mega Rayquaza remains in battle. Air Lock cancels out all weather-condition effects for all of the Pokémon in a battle as long as Rayquaza remains in the battle.

  • You can choose from Grovyle, Combusken or Marshtomp. And later will use the Mega Evolved starters.
  • During the course of this adventure, you’ll be surprised to encounter familiar Pokémon that can now Mega Evolve - Glalie in non-Japanese versions of the demo and Steelix in the Japanese demo. You can bring this Pokémon into your full Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire game.
  • You can even bring over the reward items that you obtained during your Special Demo Version adventure - these include Poke Balls, Heal Balls, Heart Scales, a Nugget and of course the Mega Stone.
  • You can play the Special Demo Version as many times as you like. Look for special scenarios that occur if you play every day.
