Pokemon Online Game

So this is an idea that I've had in my head for about 2 years ago, there have been multiple instances were I thought of starting a fanfic with this but I never actually went on with that idea.

Anyways this fic would be what the title says, an online game where people in the human world participate and can live with Pokemon, kind of like World of Warcraft and other types of online games. The characters will go through multiple adventures in this game world while also dealing with their real lives as the plot develops.

I'm not sure what exactly you have in mind, but if done right, this could turn out well.

I just wish you could tell us more about the plot.

No xD not really.

It's not like Digimon in that sense, basically it's a virtual reality game so all the Pokemon and all of that is part of the game world.

So it is like .hack then.

At it's basic yes, it can be considered kind of like .hack and that was in itself what I used as a basis back in 2010

This sounds pretty intriguing, largely as I am a fan of mixing real issues alongside Pokemon stuff, but that is generally difficult in such a fantastical world. Doing a real life/fake life thing would solve that problem, and I would definitely take a look at this should you go ahead

I think that story idea has a lot of potential!

It does sound similar to other things I've read/watched, but that's only because core ideas often are the same between shows and stories. The idea allows for a lot of development, so I think it could really work out.

What would be the overall plot?

The idea sound good, but I'm more concerned on how you would go upon constructing the plot, because usually when using such popular ideas as massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) the main attraction becomes the concept and we end up using recycled plots, which tend to be redundant, and not worth the time if the only reason you're writing it for the concept and not the story.

I mean take Sword Art Online for example, it has a great concept but the characters, relationships and plot seem very cliche despite the writer doing a great job in making the story intriguing.

Yeah I understand what you mean. For now I'm still working on the plot itself, it's not easy for me to put into words but I will try to give it my own spin.

Don't forget about portraying interesting original characters. To tell you the truth, I kinda sick of the whole main character trying to fulfill his/her dream with the rest of the characters either the same or just helping him/her out. Aside from the fact that it's so mainstream it just isn't as entertaining as it used to be... at least not to me.

Oh don't worry about that xD every one of the main character is a protagonist in themselves, like they all get equal amount of treatment when compared to each other.

So it's like an ensemble cast. Nice choice.

given that kind of thought process, if this particular Pokemon world was online, a crossover with digimon would be intriguing (albiet a bit confusing, given that after Adventure 02, Digimon's universe generally reboots with later anime seasons...)
