For curiousity's sake. I was reading that 'spin-off' series thread a minute ago, and saw a lot of ideas that would probably be pretty fun. Like The Team Rocket & Friends Cartoon Show; I'd watch it.
But having said that, I noticed a lot of that thread was basically just several suggestions for human groups or singular characters having a series focus on them. Very little mention of the actual pocket monsters going on. I suppose that's understandable. During a lengthy adventure, it's easier to get attatched to a character capable of expressing themselves through speech. Anime-wise, the humans have certainly got more of a rep when it comes to heated 'debates', be it for better or worse.

So taking that into account, I'm wondering. Ultimately, what really draws you guys into the show more? Is it the pokemon themselves that you find most appealing? Do you wish they were focused on a little more, as characters?
Or is it the humans? Do you see the pokemon as mere devices to make the humans stronger characters, or even just a reason for certain humans being in there in the first place?

I know this may seem like a bit of a silly question to some, but...uhh...cut a guy a break? Humour me? Huh? :D

I like many of the Pokemon themselves, but I doubt I would watch if there weren't any humans at all.

If every episode was like the Pikachu shorts, or the Mystery Dungeon series with no humans, I would have likely never gotten into the show. Without humans, I likely would have only played the games and never watched the show.

I love the Pokémon creatures, but I have to admit I've always watched the anime for human characters. Maybe as a kid I liked the Pokémon more for the first few episodes, but the interest transformed from "wonder what new Pokémon we will see in the next episode" to "can't wait to see Team Rocket again" pretty soon.

It depends.

If the characters were like Kenny, Brock or early Zoey and written that way...then I'd pass. But someone like TR, Barry, Paul, who aren't limited to what they do by advertising, then I'd be all on that.

For the Pokemon, daily life episodes of Pokemon like Gulpin, Ludicolo, and Bidoof would be interesting.

The show without Pokémon would be a pointless children's cartoon that I would never even consider watching, and probably never would have watched even back when I was six. The show without humans would be pretty lacking in the plot department, so I'd most likely lose patience with it. The Pokémon are more important to me, but there needs to be some moderation. I'd like them to get more focus (I really like the Pokémon-centered episodes; too bad they only subtitled once), but the humans still need to be there to tie everything together.

Because I mainly watch for shippings nowadays...definitley humans. But obviously you really can't have one without the other.

Good question ... though there wouldn't be much of a show withoug pokémon, the reverse holds true of the humans. At the risk of sounding like one of those Gym Leaders that tends to make a speech to teach Ash a lesson, without the interaction of pokémon and humans there wouldn't much of a show

I think the show already treats the pokemon belonging to the main cast and (to some extent) to Tr and the rivals as characters... They have their own personnality, their own storyline, their own issues, but you clearly need the humans in the show... What I enjoy more is the relationship between the human characters and between pokemon and their trainer, but like I said, even if the trainer has a great personnality, his pokemon need to have personnality too, otherwise the show woudn't work as much (like what happened in the very beginning of Kanto and Johto where Misty and Brock's pokemon seriously lacked in the personnality departement)

I used to watch for Kasumi.
I now watch for the TRio.

I think it's obvious which side I'm on really ;-)

I watch the anime because I have been attached to the human characters for 10-plus years, and I want to see what happens to them. It's the same with any other TV show I really get into.

But I definitely got into Pokémon because I like the creatures themselves. I like collecting merchandise with some of them. :)

i actually play the games for the characters
i feel like the only one :x

when i was younger, all i cared about was the pokemon. nowadays it's basically reversed. not to say that i don't enjoy the pokemon aspect of the games - battles are fun & some pokemon are completely badass [i'm looking at you, haunter]. i just greatly prefer the human characters.

the anime i couldn't care less about :|

The humans' pokemon. I'm much more a fan of any episode involving an evolution or a capture than any episode with development between two humans really. And don't really give a big whoop if some random pokemon is just being debuted in the anime.

I watch it mainly for the pokemon - I wish they'd get rid of Ash, maybe keep Brock & the other characters, though.

Both, I like to see the humans and Pokemon evolve.
Humans, evolve in a humanly matter, and Pokemon, in a Pokemon matter :)

For me it's all about the humans. I love the human characters (most of them) to death, all their amazing and diverse personalities. It should go without saying that I love the Pokemon too, who couldn't love those little guys? But they're not the reason I watch the show. The human characters are.

Without the Poké, these humans characters wouldn't even exist... Ash's character is all about being a Poké Master, Dawn is all about Contests, etc...
To have the show without the Poké would completely change all the characters and story and it just wouldn't be Pokémon anymore since, well, they won't exist XD
While on the other way, the Poké could get a series completely to themselves while it's still being Pokémon in a way, even if different than what we have now

I like both and I think we need both of them equally - maybe with a little more focus on the Poké since after all THEY are what makes this world special, not the humans...
I'd like an additional show like MD to run alongside the current show, but sadly it'll probably never happen
But I'd never take it -instead- of the current show
The relationship between humans and Poké is also one of the things that makes me love this show so much...

At first I mostly watched for the Pokemon themselves, just to see how a certain Pokemon would sound, I will always love the games more than the anime, and because I love a good majority of the 493 Pokemon out there. It was sort of how I liked Transformers for not the human cast, but the robots themselves.

But later in my life I got attached to the humans, as some of them were cool, badass, and funny.

I mainly watch the anime for the humans, as I have a tendacy to develop ridiculous attatchments to them (points to user title (if you don't speak Spanish it means 'I love Conway)). But despite that, the show wouldn't be the same without Pokemon. Especially epic ones like Slowking from 'The Power of One'.
