Pokémon partnering with Target for expansive 30th anniversary merch collection, to include apparel, home goods, beauty, and more

Retail giant Target has today announced a merch collab with The Pokémon Company International in celebration of Pokémon’s 30th anniversary. Target is touting themselves as the only major retailer in the US to be collaborating with Pokémon for the milestone, and is going to be showing off more than 100 colorful items, including plenty of apparel, accessories, home goods, and beauty products, plus some toys and food items. The collection will drop at all Target stores in the US in two phases, with the first arriving in-store on May 2nd and online on May 3rd.

Amy Sachtleben, senior director of licensing and promotions at The Pokémon Company International, said:
Target shares our commitment to thoughtful brand stewardship, ensuring the collection authentically captures the spirit of Pokémon while offering a wide range of products that reflects the diverse interests of the community.

Target reports that nearly half the items in the upcoming collab will be less than $20 USD, and contains partnerships focused on nostalgia, with brands like Caboodles, Trapper Keeper, and Lipsmackers. Marketing for this collection stars Joe Jonas, a longtime Pokémon fan who has livestreamed TCG pack openings and recently got a tattoo of Bubble Mew. About 65 items are launching in the first phase on May 2nd, with the remaining 40 or so launching in the second phase on June 6th. The retailer notes that the collection will not include trading cards. Many items, especially the apparel, are expected to sell out quickly, and almost every item is limited to four per customer.
