rip that y run if i ever come back to it. yeah that thread's not getting finished i think deciding to start a thread only after i was a decent chunk thru the game kinda screwed with things. BUT!!! right now i am starting a BRAND NEW RUN. pokemon platinum, featuring cheat codes and a little bit of save editing but hopefully not too much, i just really like sneasel and want one asap. i also maxed out all ivs and i might need to cheat in some rare candies eventually :V

also, i forgot that this is the last gen where you can name your rival (i get why they removed it but it's still suuuuper lame and i wish it would come back).

in related news i got immediately attacked by my evil clone.

first off, there's no way to actually type out my player name due to the lack of a single quarter (or more accurately eighth) note.
secondly, it's becoming abundantly clear that most of my comments right now are gonna be about the rival name, but do you think his mom and my mom have beef. alternatively do you think they ever kissed

well it's complicated it's my lifelong interest but i've also kind of drifted away from it especially with beyblade taking up space in my brain for over 3 years now. so overall i'd say yes buuuut i wanna see what happens if i say no. also those graphical glitches literally don't even worry about it those totally won't come to bite me in the ass later i totally won't end up in some creepypasta shit. though actually i'm not sure i could genuinely be fine this time we'll see.

anyway, the evil version of me cannot fathom someone not liking pokemon, apparently. if he was the protagonist of a creepypasta he'd lead it off with "i'm a total fan of pokemon much like everyone else". rowan is also more concerned about recklessness as opposed to my literal evil clone.

now, the moment of truth. usually i pick piplup and i've always wanted to use turtwig, but i'm actually using it in a run of a certain ultra moon hack that i really ought to get back to. and tbh infernape DOES fucking rule (not to mention we're quite lacking on fire types). i'm starting to understand why they did 3 fire/fighting starters in a row. so, i don't care much for chimchar but we're picking it anyway. my evil clone does have good taste in pokemon i must say... but there's no wrong choice in sinnoh, even back in ye olde hisui days.

there's only room for one rat around here, apparently. i always knew the day would come where i'd have to fight my evil clone.

one problem, though.

i lost. apparently you black out if you lose the first rival fight only for the cutscene to continue as you'd expect which has some really concerning implications. we have to stop this guy i think. (and the scoundrel did it by lowering my attack ten million times, too!)

I wouldn't like to think what the wild Pokemon might have done to you two.

unfortunately my evil clone is trying to pick a fight with a god now, so nothing can ever be easy. i haven't mentioned it but i'm seriously not looking forward to fighting and catching the legendaries i SO hope they overhaul that at some point.

i'm fully aware i won't be allowed to pick this but it's the honest answer. i also get return, which sounds really good for how early we are. i've neglected to mention this also but i'm playing a hack that, among some other things, mainly removing the need for most HMs, lets me use TMs infinitely.

i joke about not a lot happening where i live but atleast our claim to fame isn't fucking sand.

i'm gonna go eat some lunch now. expect a lot of yapping from this thread. hopefully. expect also to see an egg in my party next time assuming i don't forget to put it in there

nothing really interesting happened up to the catching tutorial. immediately after that, however, i managed to lose the FIRST TRAINER BATTLE. took an unlucky crit and from there i knew i was fucked since i didn't have any potions. didn't even heal at the pokemon center cause i was already at full health.

after getting back to sandgem town i bought some potions and caught a bidoof. his name is len :] i didn't take any screencaps of him though

good thing i got those potions though because i proceeded to walk into the same youngster AGAIN instead of going back to heal. i swear i meant to go heal my brain just did not cooperate on that

the rest of the route doesn't have anything to note, until i get to jubilife (i swear that place just SOUNDS like the ds) and lucas complains i don't have enough pokemon

oh, and looker is there

my evil clone is in the trainer's school apparently, so that's my cue to call it for today. updates from now on likely will be once per day at most, this first day is just the exception.

if anyone has any name suggestions for the future sneasel i will take them into account :3

before going to the trainer school, i screw around jubilife a bit. i caught a funny fish, who i... probably will never use. maybe i will complete that sinnoh dex who knows

i forgot to screenshot it but some dude asked me to make a group. a name, huh...?

...aaand there's our fight. i haven't mentioned it yet but weirdly you can't use the touch screen to progress dialogue outside of battle and i have no idea why. yet again he spams growl but this time i have more than one pokemon and don't bother trying to debuff him myself

WELCOME BACK! on today's update i go to oreburgh and screw around and then fight roark. upon realizing my team consisted of a fire type, a normal type, and a future ice type, i went to go check something.

very interesting indeed. grinding time it is then, even though i said i wouldn't grind for this playthrough

there are more pressing matters though.

for starters, my evil clone, and also finding roark i guess. that can wait though first we're exploring the city

Giving Pokemon nicknames is the way to go.
It makes you feel as if they're your very own.

But he named our Psyduck "Yellow" just because of its color...

do any of you guys know about autocaptionedroark. one of my favorite tumblr blogs i highly recommend checking it out even if he's been dead for like 4 years. that's what i associate with roark now (also is it me or does he have some transmasc swag)

after taking on a shift as a glue factory worker and turning horses into paste because they give good exp (my sneasel hatched during this time her name is biribi cause i like how it sounds) i make a horrifying discovery

the fight did go well as expected and i did infact need water gun for this. sneasel was able to take out onix but that was mostly due to ten million lucky flinches. jorts came out for like one fart so right now he's still level 13, so expect to see him evolved in the next update

anyway, i heard you can get a level 10 golbat in the oreburgh gate and i checked and it's true. i know who my next team member is. gardenia you are not making it out alive.

would you believe me if i told you like nothing interesting happened until i got to eterna forest? well, there were a couple of things actually, i got that golbat (who is named van) and i gave it pluck, which came in handy against mars, but that's about it. i also apparently never mentioned the name of my sneasel, which is biribi because i thought it sounded nice.

anyway, in eterna forest, i caught a misdreavus (named mira)! apparently we can get a dusk stone pretty soon so as soon as i'm happy with her moveset i'll probably do that. biribi, meanwhile, won't be evolveable until much later on so i might bench her for a certain period of time, we'll see. i caught a murkrow too (named BIRD UP) who i plan to use for contests :3

i have to question what the point of these trees is. it looks like it'd help you get past the trainers, but you don't have access to cut at this point, and to go to eterna city you have to get through here, so your only option is to fight them...

upon getting to eternatus i'm interrupted by my evil clone, and... wait what the fuck IS that?

well it's probably not important. anyway back to what i was doing- oh COME ON

AHEM. with that out of the way we can finally continue and pick up the explorer kit. YAY

next time i screw around in the underground and fight gardenia. on my last platinum run in addition to another bug i thankfully haven't run into (even though it would've been REALLY FUNNY to show here) there was one where if i spent too long in the underground i couldn't leave, so hopefully i don't run into that here.
