Pokémon PokopiaThe Pokémon Company is offering some sales data for the newly released Pokémon Pokopia, which had its worldwide release on March 5th. The company states that it sold more than 2.2 million units of Pokopia in its first four days, putting it on track to become one of the best-selling spin-off games in the Pokémon franchise.

The 2.2 million units figure includes digital and physical copies of the game, which was only released for the Nintendo Switch 2. The Pokémon Company also specifies that the number includes 1 million copies sold within Japan.

For context, the best selling Pokémon spin-off game of all time, Pokémon Stadium for the Nintendo 64, sold 1.7 million units the year it was released, ultimately reaching about 5.5 million over its lifetime. The previous most recent spin-off, Detective Pikachu Returns for the Switch, sold about 86,000 copies during its first week in Japan, a significant difference from Pokopia’s 1 million. Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the most recently released mainline game, is currently sitting at about 12.3 million units sold, and did release for both the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.

This figure places Pokopia in 13th on a list of best-selling spin-offs of all time, behind games like Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness, the original Pokémon Snap, and Pokémon Ranger. Though with only four days of data, fans can expect sales numbers to rise as Pokopia proves itself very popular.

this makes me really happy. i hope tpc will remember the value of good spin-off games now... we rarely get anything that isn't a mobile app nowadays

With all the buzz in social media this was to be expected. Will definitely reach at least 10 million, though it also depends if people get more reasons (other than this game and WIWA) to buy a Switch 2.
